On the question (thought it was a good one) of what we'd take from other trades (because you cannot just pretend that we missed out on Fyfe or Rocky ) Getting Hawthorn's first rounder next year and 2 second rounds for a first round pick (St Kilda for the win) Nankervis for 4th round - we do need a ruck, but he does want to be 1st ruck. Ahern - for a 4th rounder, yep! Hanley - but he wasnt going to leave Queensland Brad Hill - would have loved but WA bound Lewis and Mitchell for nothing. Lewis is the better one in here and we got him. Hibbard - exactly what we need. Wish we got him.... oh wait! Tuohy - he is what we need of half back, but I think we got a better version with Hibbard and without the 1st rounder. No interest in: Marley Williams (heading to North apparently) - meh I wouldnt have taken Prestia for the money or the trade. I think that Lewis works well for us here and we have a strong inside team building. Same reason for Mitchell. Would be great, wouldnt say no, but dont care because of $ and picks. Lids - great player but not at the $, not at the draft pick. Hamling - no need Nathan Brown - if we are keeping Garland, no need for Brown Steele, Hrovat, Stevens - really only depth for us and our depth is just as good as these guys. Mayne Wells Vickery

It's over now. He's committed back to Brisbane - press release just came out.

Mahorney on Trade Radio: Dunn - In Collingwood's court. We are after the best for Lyndon, not the MFC. Dawes - see what happens this trade period and then make a call Lamumba - playing next year. Rockcliff - Never spoke to him - we have his type and want to give more time to Brayshaw, Salem, Oliver rather than bring in Rocky. Hibbard - held up because of Lewis trade. Need more ruck options (No mention of Max King, just Mitch King) looking at the draft for this.
-
Maharoney on Trade Radio that it is up to Collingwood on the Dunn trade. He is happy to extend Dunn's career at Collingwood and not too worried about what is coming back as long as they are looking after Dunn.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
Dee-licious replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Been thinking about this. I wondering if with the bottom end of the draft being so open where you could end up with someone in your top 30 at pick 60 if a 10 pick upgrade is worth it? Maybe having 2 stabs in the 50's is better than 1 stab in the 40's? I'd keep our next year picks because this is not a great draft year. We need to take 3 picks this year - I dont mind putting Smith on the senior list (cheap). and go with the 57 and 59 (or make a call on the day to upgrade?). -
We need to have 3 picks so 3 spots on our list. Right now we only have 1. So regardless of the upgrades on the rookie list, we are going to need to trade out 2 players to make the required list changes. Dunn is one the other is ????. Interesting last 2 days.

One year not going to the draft is alright by me. If you think about it, Oliver would be in the top 3 this year, and Weid would be the number 1 forward this year (if they were in this draft class, all things being equal) and we got them both last year. We have also added Lewis and Hibbard which is a big win for us. Not worried about the draft picks this year, we will get who we get it doesnt matter if they dont go on to be guns. We have a first rounder again next year and a free agency period with a lot of juicy free agents. We're in a good spot. -

It is the equivalent of pick 35 (186 points), so while we dont get into this draft until the end of the third round, I think that we can all agree that we would have been happy with this at the start of trade week. -

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JORDAN LEWIS

The article also says he is taking a pay cut to come to the dees as well. -

I'll play. Spread butter - knife (like he knifed the crows in the back) spread wings - crows and swans. Ocean bound - contracted at Sydney. Is Tippett the player you are talking about?

It's getting around twitter now that Lewis is going for a third round pick. Now we know twitter is a place for trolls but this is a lot of trolls. -
Trade Whisperer saying Tippett won't be moving. Cold water quickly on that one.
-
From the DTTalk twitter account: "There could be a big man joining the Demons that many wouldn't have 'Tipped'... as if he was moving, he could have gone further north. #hmm" I wouldn't read anything into it. They have now asked Trade Whisperer if it is true. Harley said 2 days ago Tippett is not on the trade table at all.

Podcast on Lewis up now on Twitter https://twitter.com/traderadio Disgruntled- not a happy man He thought he was going to be captain, but doesn't think he is going to be there next year Clarkson and Lewis' end of season discussion was really bad (apparently), left angry from it Pickering (manager) has gone straight to Melbourne (Lewis' choice) MFC saying they were approached by Lewis' management Melbourne seem happy to take Lewis if Hawthorn Agree Hawthorn in damage control and dont want to lose him.
-
On Lewis' Wikipedia page it says current club Melbourne...... Anyway, we are talking Lids having 4 years in him, Buddy having another 5, so why cant Lewis who has barely (really barely, look at it it is amazing how durable he is - never under 19 games per season (first season) and played over 22 games every year since 2010) missed a game his entire career play for another 3-4 years? Is he who I want? No - I'm pretty annoyed that we are not chasing Ahern and Pickett as they are exactly what we need. But I wouldnt say no to a champion.
-
I stand corrected.

He outperformed expectations of a key forward in his first year. He leads well, can take a good grab and a solid set shot at goal. Cant blame him for lack of supply. His tank wasnt great this year (adjusting to the running patterns and the work that key defenders put into you) and would fall out of games in the second half - which is why he was rested in the back end of the year. Brissy fans boo'd him during the WC game (uncalled for!). Basically imagine that Weiderman played the same way for an entire season that he did for the 3 games he played, Schache did that for the 17 games he played. You see something there, saw some flashes of brilliance, but a positive work is progress. Cannot imagine he comes back to Victoria unless something worse than this season happens up north. Even then, I think he is what we have (Weideman) rather than what we need (Lobb).

Teams are up but no Kennedy-Harris. Any news on him demonland?

I was thinking about this and if the grass is greener. We were hoping that Frost was going to fall into the PSD for us and St Kilda wasnt going to pick him up. Let's play a game of what you would prefer: Frost (19 for us and 5 VFL games), O Mac (17 games) and Nibbler (15) or Pick 23 (we didnt have any other picks in the draft). So for Pick 23 you can replace these three with Pat McKenna (0 games), Toby McLean (16 games), Daniel Nielson (0), Lucas Webb (16), Touk Millar (41). Clearly individually Touk has played the most games and had the greatest impact. but the combined of Frost + O Mac + Nibbler is much greater than Touk. Goes to show that Taylor really does know what he is doing.

As interest in the AFL grows, so do the insiders. There are a couple of twitter accounts which summarise the trade news from all of the reputable sources. The three that have been the best so far in backing up their claims have been Trade Whisperer AFL Trade News First and NAB Trade Radio. I bring this on to a separate thread as this morning, there was the first solo post regarding Garland and the Lions. Lions have picks 2, 20, 24, 48, 56, 74 and right now I don't think 48 gets it done. Maybe it is a 20's pick and something back to them. But I don't know if that is best for their development. I'll post anything else that is Melbourne related on here.
-
He really did look like the answer to half back in his first 10 games. Tired badly - but something seriously to work with. Will be good to have him competing with the other half back flankers. 189cm - did he play any midfield time this year? I can't remember him being anywhere bar they back 50.

Who are the Dees chasing for 2017 and at what cost?
Dee-licious replied to junk's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's really interesting that it seems to be the flavour of the month. More than happy to have both.
