Pray tell me, simple minded as I must be, just how has Strauss "improved his game" since his injury??? I am not aware that he has actually played a game, so how could he possibly improve it?? Have I missed something? He may have improved his "approval rating" here, but not his game!! -

I would venture to say that Ross Lyon doesn't give the proverbial rat's ass about the Aints missing Zac Dawson. ;-) -

But I guess the argument of many here is that, just as Geelong lacked that day someone else to take on BF, we have yet to see that Sellar is capable of filling that role. So, yes, IF Sellar or maybe Davis or Tom McDonald can take that role then we could be onto a good thing, freeing up Chip for the running, clearing, directing role, which we know he can do, but unless and until then ????? It will be interesting to see when the time comes. -
Agree with the sentiments above. Good luck in your new venture - just not against us!

Yeah Thanks for the pics A couple of observations Frawley's biceps look OK this year - hope he doesn't overdo it again! McKenzie looks as if he actually going to kick: maybe some of his harshest critics should check that out. He can Kick! -

I think Ricky was being used as a mid at Casey late in the season. Maybe he could join that queue too. -

Correct me if I am wrong but my recollection is that RDB left at the end of 1964 season, and that the Great Norm Smith was "terribly treated" the following season. Rumours had it that at least part of the "problem" with the Great Coach (from the club administration's point of view) was that he gave at least tacit support, or was seen not to have fought against the amazing player and man who was his defacto stepson, RDB moving to Carlscum. I am not sure if the real truth behind the sacking will ever come out: the real truth however (at least in part) of the effect is that we have gone nearly half a century without another flag, and that is a disgrace. It also destroyed Smith. I think that I am right in saying that he was involved either as a player or coach in all but 2 of our premierships! Not a bad feat. -
I had a look and could not find it. Do you have a link?

There was certainly a lot of very heated discussion at the time, though of course more word of mouth, and considered correspondence and not the instant "hit the SEND button" stuff of today. There were some shouts of "Judas" when he first played against us but really he was recognised as a longstanding champion of the club and though there was great disappointment amongst members there was far less anger than in the current situation - of course Ron didn't ever come out in the media and blatantly lie about what was going on: he is a very honourable man and was very frank about his actions and reasons, which were not just money but also opportunity to coach as a captain. The guy was a rare being, a genuine champion / legend of the club - disappointing to lose him, very much so, but there were so many proud memories and he had given the club so much. He even played with a little knee soreness on occasions. Actually I think it was (no draft at that stage of VFL history) Carlton United - Melbourne Bitter. -
There.....YOU mentioned the S (aka$) word yourself!

All too true. I guess I was referring to their youthful appearance.

Conspiracy theory re: Neeld/Prendergast
monoccular replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
What is wrong with - new coach, new ideas, new needs, new recruiting manager? All too simple for the JFK/LHO/CIA/FBI/KGB/ETC theorists? (With whom, incidentally, I tend to agree with on most occasions) -
It is always great to have hindsight - but who knows, Martin may well have been targeted and bought off, and lied his way through last year? And he may have had "such a poor sore knee" throughout 2011 too. not saying that he would have, but ????? And T$ may have had a stellar season at Ninthmond, with no knee problems at all?? Nobody knows.

Conspiracy theory re: Neeld/Prendergast
monoccular replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Maybe. Can we be sure that the reasons stated in this thread, ie that Neeld doesn't rate BP is the reason that he walked? There could be many other reasons - he seems to have been offered an opportunity to do something a bit different. Maybe a new challenge? It is all theoretical at the moment. I guess more may come out in the wash. Anyway, good luck to him. He did a pretty good job at MFC; not wishing him ill personally, but I hope he is less successful in his new job. -
If the guy wants to move on to new challenges, good luck to him. Good job, well done. Thank you.

Hear here !! And...we have picked up a monster KPP forward, and lost a certainly morally and possibly physically suspect young mid. LOL indeed ! GO DEMONS
-
Do you mean a bit like the group in your avatar, without the magnificent guernseys of course.
-
Try telling that to Al Gore and Tim Flannery True but obvious - if it is in our forward line all day, they can't score; conversely, if it is their forward line all day, we can't score. Hadn't though of that though, before last year's trip down Princes' Highway !!

Time Trials - Friday 13th January, 2012

Is having no Veteran's list so as not to "disadvantage" Vlad's two your darlings, GCS & GWS, who won't be bake to produce and Veterans for nigh a decade ??? -
....and may I note that you, and I, are amongst that huge number who have read and posted on this "ongoing matter of interest". What will be most interesting to me will be to see if his degenerative knee problem is miraculously cured by the fresher air and beautiful climate of Rooty Hill, (or wherever that Godforsaken hole is situated). Only time will tell whether we have avoided the poisoned chalice, and been well compensated for it! As noted earlier, running 3km in a straight line is very different from a twisting, turning, stopping, accelerating, jumping game of AFL. On the other hand nobody in their right mind would ever again believe one word that this $$#@%^&&*$$$ said, so there may well have been absolutely nothing wrong with his knee all last season (except maybe bruising from kneeling in awe before Vlad, or is that the other way around). And others have also noted, one Brock McLean also excelled in this aspect of training. Was he the quickest when it came to match day? GO DEMONS !!!!!!

I thought that she said that she was going to play for Footscray

Not even on the list!

And pleeeeeeeease don't mention the ND myth: ruthlessness, at least not unless and until our players can actually deliver it !!!
