  1. My thoughts at the time exactly. Richo doesn't do random. This was well thought out inside the Dees. Its a case of now from us of "...You know that we know... beware lest you cast the first stone...." Who supplied Ginnivan his white powder?
  2. Tim Watson discussed it specifcally on SEN to Gary Lyon noting the bizarre openess of Richo and this being one of the interview highlights about the Dees he gleaned when discussing culture.. Last week he did a special interview for Ch 7 with Richo. Tim's take was if the ladder exists, and it probably does, why is it secret?
  3. Your'e right Deestar9 it achieves nothing. But it will benefit me re: the filth supporters etc. Theyll'have a banner for Maynard probably.
  4. With you on this feeling. This Forum is providing some level of catharsis to enable us to vent, but I have noted on here other aspects to feel better. Such as the Duncan Wright incident and what I believe will be , or now is, Maynard's legacy for life. Thug. Where's Rod grinter when we need him. I love the Dees still, but hate about everyone else associated with the game in positions to have a microphone and opinions, top of the list being the AFL funnily enough for denial of justice to Gus. Collingwood fans and behaviour after the Act is on another level altogether for hatred however which is why I will boycott KB this season, being a Pies home game.
  5. Well done to Max and Richo for recent media messaging strategy. Max is representing the players admirably and interestingly was lead skipper on the interview front at yesterday's launch. With Bont running second. Age's lead article was Max today. Face it he's way more interesting to the media anyway. But...the clever component was Richo's sneaky aside to tim Watson last week that the Dee's are near the bottom of the hair testing ladder. Firstly we didn't know there was one. Secondly upwards of maybe 16 clubs have more issues and by the media"s definition poorer culture than us. But no one is following this thread lest we find heaven forbid the Pies are top of the ladder.
  6. Nailed all of them. Succinct and spot on. Esp on Stewart. May is my first pick for the Dee's every day of the week.
  7. Spot on. And I would grab any day 3 top 4 finishes and a flag.
  8. Correct on this Mono, but when you read the interveiw of the late Duncan Wright towards the end of his life he talks about no regrets on the one hand, then sheds a tear etc, and feels hard done by that the Pies sacked him. Don't tell me it didn't affect him. I know a close member of the Somerville family who told me John was not quite the same after the knockout. As it will Maynard - no sympathy for him and will be reminding all my Pies friends on the Wright issue.
  9. I'm bent out of shape over this I admit, however I am planning to not attend KB. Its a Pies home game and my way of denying something they love - money. Imagine if the Dees fans en masse took this approach as a once-off. Media would go ballistic but the point would be well-made.
  10. None. Two examples. 1. Princip got 20 years jail time . Maynard gets off. 2. Princip played as a forward for Sarajevo in his youth in the Balkans Football League (or BFL as it was known then) Maynard's a defender.
  11. I looked at the O'Dea case and noted the victim in Greening was a Brayshaw-type player - all class, except O'Dea got 10 weeks - because it was on the tele. Thus Wright's defence of " no Comment" to the police investigation, along with no tangible/reliable witnesses meant he walked- just like Maynard. O'Dea not so lucky. But Wright was a "good bloke" notes the Pies club website. Just like Maynard. Gee, that's another similiarity too I missed. I'm signing off now and will follow Gus's career post- playing with love and affection. My spies at the Club's launch had nothing but pariase for the feeling in the room, and the leadership shown by Max, Kate and trac I think. Go Dees.
  12. Gladly, "...There was a public outcry; and the press was outraged: Gladly and thanks for not extrapolating my post as some on here have done as a sort of comparison of both acts. Its not, but it is a view on the non-collingwood legacy now of player Maynard. I thought the similarities/differences were also interesting
  13. Didn't say the acts were like for like if you read the post. My conclusion however is that outside of Collingwood this act defines Maynard's career. And like Wright we will hear now a lifetime of justifications etc. That, for Maynard's far worse a penalty than 3 weeks from a Tribunal. Most interesting to me is how the Pies handled each case. Pretty classy in 1965. Disgraceful in 2023 thanks to current culture. Note the great Thorold Merrett's comments after the Wright incident.
  14. Factual Similarities: Both Played in losing Grand finals Both wore original jumper numbers in the 30's Both took out a champion opposition player in finals (those players' season over as a result) Both victims have a flag to their name Both victims were wide open and undefended Neither Wright nor Maynard were suspended Both instigators were Collingwood players Factual Differences: In Wright's case the ball was about 40 metres away, Mayanard was around 10 metres away. Each act occurred in different centuries. In Wright's case , no-one saw the act - In Maynard's.......the AFL world saw it, me live. Conclusion I guess in my mind I'll see both acts as one in the same on balance That Gus's hit happened 58 years later and still went unpunished is unfathomable - but that's just my opinion. At this stage only an opinion - but like Wright - Maynard will forever be associated with the recent act - thanks to the internet. A legacy that he will spend his lifetime justifying - as Wright had done till he passed away.
  15. Gus is contractually owed his player contract payments. He would be ill-advised to sign any 'no future legal action' taled by the AFL. These two issues are unrelated and payout is not predicated on him signing anything I suspect.
  16. Read today's article by Peter Ryan in the Age. Sums up Angus beautifully, but also refers to mayanard having to carry the load for this decsion by Angus and maynard's action. IMO, Brayshaw is and will be all class and revered into the future. I know I will. mayard is now a footnote/stain on AFL history (along with the Tribunal members who found him not guilty). A much bigger lifetime burden to carry than a lousy 3 week suspension he should have been handed.

  18. Thanks for this pitmaster. Realistic but agree with 3 word summary as you noted. I think back to last seasons match sim where Brody was on fire forward etc. Media were in a lather. Like this year's mainly meant nothing as a predictor. Roll on Round zero
  19. Probably seen as blasphemy by some but I rate big game performance highly Ns robbo was never convincing to me. Fritsch ahead of him imo. And Steven May absolutely stiff. But who goes out. But apart from neither in early years not a single defender which say something about the period. Think Rance Scarlett Taylor .
  20. I try to avoid Clickbait Cornes so thanks for nothing Demonland. However I think top 3 are spot on albeit Goffys Bont comments above are on the money. There's Bont then daylight in leadership at the Dogs. Max is a more well-rounded leader than bont or Toby. Should be top for this reason. And he's not advertising alcoholic drinks like Moore.
  21. Greater Geelong plus Surf Coast Shire 15 minutes down the road combine for 300k ferals and growing.
  22. Tassie is but that's not the point. Geelong is bigger than Hobart and growing . Hobart's flatlined as has the state for decades.
  23. Many thnaks for your great work on here.PF. I'm interested to hear not your starting 22 yet, but the 'locks' and who you think conversely are at risk of missing out as a result of these newcomers. Thanks in anticipation
  24. Yes for sure. Jenkins is just another 'clickbait merchant' from SEN. Move on for gawds sake.
