2024 AFL Grand Final
The Lions of 7 years ago aint the Lions of today. Whats their record since 2022? Way better than 3-16

2024 AFL Grand Final
Yes maybe not. But possibly the recent work in winning multiple finals on the G (against us in 22 and this year against the Cats, plus other in season wins may point towards Fagans growth and rectifying the issue. It can be argued they were stiff in last year's GF also. The G problem for the Lions is now a rear view mirror issue IMO

Andrew McQualter - Appointed coach of the West Coast Eagles
No your not. I am too as it opens up a much bigger re-fresh opportunity off field Providing we choose wisely.

2024 AFL Grand Final
Might say somehting about Fagan and the Lions given the Gabba is very close to SCG dimenions. Only a metre longer and wider and they played it superbly. Lions cope with MCG . Swans maybe don't. This issue was raised as one reason the Roos beat them in 96. Couldnt adjust to a longer ground.

Nathan Bassett to Dees as Forwards Coach?
That back pocket plumber Kevin. And I can't type. Doesn't mean Basset can coach. Just as that type of history shouldn't preclude him

Nathan Bassett to Dees as Forwards Coach?
Post of the day. Many thanks

Nathan Bassett to Dees as Forwards Coach?
Some of the great coaches were back pocket players who the theory goes can see the whole field. Hence their coaching insights across the ground. Speedy jeans. Parkin. Hafey. Assets record at Norwood is second to none.

Andrew McQualter - Appointed coach of the West Coast Eagles
Not if he's a yes man and doesn't challenge Simon. Buy hopefully he's not.

Angus Brayshaw Forced into Retirement
Nicely said. Maynard will be foreever remebered for his act taking out Gus. Oh yeah - he played for collingwood too. Duncan Wright complained in old age how hard he was done by for the john sommerville punch. Stiff mate. Maynard will have similiar thoughts ongoing, and if he hasn't, then he's lying. Sleep well.

Nathan Bassett to Dees as Forwards Coach?
Why can't he be a forward coach? I would have thought being a class deefender would give valuable insights into forward craft and how best to beat a defence. I like the idea. Chaplin needs to stay where he is, if he wants to that is.

Angus Brayshaw Forced into Retirement
Wonderful speech by Angus. The cutaway to the Dee's table was great too. May,Lever, Max together. I hope the afl hierarchy and the Filth table shifted uncomfortably in their seats. Go well Angus. Our 21 flag had many contributors. But your 3rd quarter all over the ground was number one for mine.

2024 AFL Grand Final
The Swans have huge latent interest in Melb and all GF's they have been in since 2005 , whether against Vic or interstate teams have had 98K plus. One year they had 100K. It all depends where you really want to sit I guess. When the mighty Dees are in finals in 22 and 23 I queued from noon for 5.00pm opening. But that's me.

2024 AFL Grand Final
40 year MCC member here Roy11. At 7.00am the queue will be at the Pullman. DON'T DO IT, or you'll be stuck with back rows of Level 4 if your lucky (the front rows of Level 4 this year are reserved. As an experienced queuer, 4.00am will guarantee you a good choice. There are only 9000 seats available. Take a folding chair- everyone does - leave it behind against a tree when the queue movement starts usually around 7.30 to get everyone ready for opening at 8. Get your seat and your chair, along with 5000 others will still be there in Yarra PArk, then wander home. 4.00am will ensure you get Level 3 in front of Grey Smith bar - best seats IMO, and probably Level 2 balcony if you prefer. Definitely Level 1. But get your plan/strategy ready and don't prevaricate or you'll be elbowed aside in the charge. . Good luck and have a ball. Also they open Hugh Trumble cafe overnight so you can grab a coffee there or other spots to kil the time. You'll be surprised how quickly 8.00am comes around.

Sorry Biff. Just saw your post too late.

Last time they met in a Granny
The VFL started in 1897 after 8 clubs, Swans included, broke from the VFA to form AFL. The 1899 GF was settled under the old play off process used in the VFA. With the two playoff teams being South and the Roys. I wasn't referring to VFA. In any case the post was about specifically South vs Fitzroy last time they met in something approaching a GF- 1899. My data came from the AFL Tables website that has all match scores from 1897 to last week's semi finals.

Last time they met in a Granny
Good call. I was trying to give it a modern context . Bloods up to 1933 when they adopted the swans moniker. We're at the great lakeside oval from 1873 is. Really old club.

Last time they met in a Granny
Fitzroy vs South Melbourne 16th sept 1899 at 3.00pm (a good old afternoon game. No tele in those days. Junction oval with 4800 attendance. Roy Boys won by a point. Keeping swans to 1 goal after 1/4 time. 3 goals 9 lions to 3 goals 8 swans And the umpire was I kid you not. I . Crapp. (Ivo was first name) 148 games and 7 grand finals umpired. Could be the razor Ray of his time

Goodwin is the MAN!
And discussed as the Crows best ever on field leader

Goodwin is the MAN!
Great call on what is finals footy and flag winning. It ain't the hawks current style. Will win enough games to make the 8 but that's it
-
Christian Petracca
And from Schwarter too! Amazing and positive

Christian Petracca
Exactly why I've given sen and afl360 the flick. Whateley's a pseudo mouthpiece. Lost me when he ran the party line on Maynard

Training Ground?
Chin up Old Dee. You will be around for the opening, just that your moniker on Demonland will be "Older Dee"

Training Ground?
It will appear on our Balance Sheet and has true value, not something like treating players as assets. The whole state runs on long term crown land leases. Nothing serious in that. Think Yarra Park, or Cunningham Pier Geelong(which the late Frank Costa held a 99 year lease for, then a serious building built on the end. Frank wasn't concerned),
