  1. Given the gws result a few minutes ago any win today puts dees into 8 tonight. Cannot fall out regardless of results tomorrow.
  2. Someone needs to instruct Sicily on the concept of karma. His spay at the umpires post game, after his less-than-classy exchange with Parker who was clearly concerned for Impey, was a bad look. Was he expecting the result to change?. He's no Dermott. Brereton used to hand it out but copped it the other way in good spirit.
  3. Last week I may have imagined this but I believed we saw the first good signs of Lever and OMac playing very complimentary sides to their games on Sunday, along with Hibberd being their go - to player in a tight situation. Time will tell but quietly confident the team has close to a finals standard defence now in the making.
  4. Well said. BN Other posts smack to me of the ' messiah' complex about Viney so common with Melb in past years. Not the case, nor necessary. Tom McD has stabilised the structure, Hogans now a talisman, Gawn's on fire, etc, etc, (apologies to Oliver, spargo, Brayshaw, OMc, Lever... etc , etc,) Viney is now the cream and won't deliver this week although I'd love him in the team he's not the key to success. The team will do that as a whole, then he's a bit more match hardened to blow away the blues at home having avoided the long haul to the gabba.
  5. Kane Cornes stated Hogan is the successor to Nick Reiwoldt, when discussing his AFL team of the week yesterday. Nothing more needs to be said.
  6. Great post Joeboy. But who's underrating Oscar McDonald? We now have a 10 year Full back. His first pack mark in the first minute against 3 saints was sensational.
  7. I think the club overall may be working on the lowering the eyes to hit forward targets. Done well yesterday, and noticeably by serial offender Jaydyn Hunt who made some great first 1/4 decisions in the game.
  8. Good call. Bernie was running up and down and couldn't jump in the last. He's 32. Mad not to rest , and save the trip to Brisbane which is a bit of a hike as well.
  9. The umpire was about 5 m away looking directly at the incident and immediate whistle. Not an issue. Missing the goal though was the issue and punishment enough.
  10. Good call WBlood. Was at the game and they were stuffed in the last. Yes they wasted inside 50's but absolutely dominated. Jetta back to best and saw brayshaws first 1/4 in defence close up and he's re-arrived. Room for improvement for sure but that's a good thing - isn't it?
  11. Carlton are now irrelevant and done as a topic. Saints had their turn this week. North have come good. Dees go down today and we're the story next week. If we win it'll be tommy Hawkins touching the umpires that will be next weeks SEN fodder that lets us off the hook and the goal review system.
  12. Good effort D is G. I think it also has an aspect on transition and succession planning. Fritsch has earned it now, but Spargo will by end of year so as an emergency recognises this. By end of year two other spots needed - for Lewis and Vince maybe??? Hunt may be a bit lucky too.
  13. yes they are, but usually at home. GWS took the foot off and never should have lost/drawn that game. The saints couldn't believe how lucky they got getting draw. But...... use it as a wake up to start off as they finished on Sunday.
  14. The Age is reporting this morning online that Viney is strong chance for this week. They may do a T Mac and match harden him in th AFL, or maybe avoid Etihad and next week in Qld.
  15. The context in this interview was that he had forgotten how hard the game is after such a long layoff, and he would normally have come through Casey to get that adjustment back, but they chose to get him match hardened in an AFL game instead. Works for me.
  16. Does Petracca know what the word professional sportsman means. Basketball injury 2 seasons ago cost him a pre-season and a wasted year then too. I'd be asking for a refund from him. Furious. These are the issues that separates the men for the boys.
  17. Great post. But remember the kids barely 21 if that. (How good at public speaking were you at that age, or any of us for that matter) He has leadership and professionalism all over him. Oliver, Viney, Hogan and TBD.... will lead the club as a group and the sooner the better
  18. In line with Mahoney's comment on SEN today. he also said Viney was only " a couple of weeks behind T Mac" Just reporting what he said.
  19. Josh Mahoney said tonight to KB, Doc and Dermie on SEN that TMac would be playing next weekend - " AFL or VFL".
  20. Repeat history and expect a different outcome? = definition of insanity. Lets hope he's flexible. The football world's microscope will be well and truly switched on next Tuesday night.
  21. Good post H as H. That's my memory of the Geelong games as well. I also was concerned after Brisbane, but after the first 1/4 against North for the first time I sat back and felt the team was in control all day and confident of a win, although tricky at times. That instils some confidence that last week won't be a repeat, but it does get down to selection and match day coaching as well. People are talking up North, yet they only beat the Blues in Hobart. Commentators are fickle and many its the first thing that comes into the head. Its a bit more complex than that. If Viney and T Mac were available I would be very confident about Anzac Eve. Its tricky drawing form lines on anyone exepcte GWS at present with confidence.
  22. Couldn't agree more. SWYL. Jones is capable , and does, some fantastic things each week, but not since Todd Viney have we had a true on-ground leader. Some say neitz was but the evidence of fragility over the early 2000's puts that in context. Selwood, Hodge, Barassi, Riscuitto, Worsfold just never allowed nor accepted fragility. Jack Viney's loss was immeasurable and I can't have him back soon enough to instail the missing component on ground. He is the key.
  23. I had 50 on hawks at $2.20. $110 collect tonight..
  24. Re-read the article. Its not overly analytical and doesnt' rate the ruckmen. Discusses a few but very superficially and lists the best 9 Which includes Max. Year 10 English Comprehension needed for this post. IMO
  25. Agree. He did a Jack Viney today. In the HFF members side a hobbling north player received a decent side bump from Salem while waiting for the ball up and pushed him over just for fun after the Roo player just got to his feet. A mean streak?
