  1. I always preferred the nickname of Balls, --the pause --expecting Ball -- the new Rodney Grinter
  2. A Guy who averages 10 to 12 marks a game has something many others don't. He must begiven even more time to bring this asset to fruition. Maybe simply a positional issues. Try him on the backline.
  3. I've said it before and I sazy it again//"JACKPOT"
  4. With all the talk of Hale coming to the Dees it was a bit disappointing to learn we olost him to the Hawks. However, to read of the 6 draftees that Kevin Sheehan was suggesting would likely be available at pick 12 my spirits lifted and I was glad the rumours that we were going to swap 12 for 17 didn't materialise. I'm looking forward to the draft now. Kevin Sheehans 6 are far more relevant than Mike Sheehans 50. Bring on the draft. With 12 this year and Jack Viney next year it continues to build. Go Dees
  5. All the lounge room experts, including journalists always know the best thing to do in an intuitive game. Give Roo a break, it was just one of those things that can go wrong in our oval ball game.
  6. I'm amazed at the euphoric admiration of Jordie. He's had a good start, but an aweful long way to go. Plays exceptionally well inside, but unless he develops his outside game significantly he won't go far. The game is increasingly becoming a running game. He is competing for Nathan Jones position. Hard to fit both in in the long run.
  7. Only collingwood people thought they could win at the beginning of the year I'm a modest tipster. I don't worry to much about the other team and their players, I just enjoy our boys and the red and blue. However by listening to opinions of others assess Collingwood, when they got Jolly and Ball I for one believed they would be particularly dangerous. I told several Collingwood friends ( excuse the use of the word) I believed this was the year they should put their money on them. Of course I wouldnot be so unfaithful to do such a thjing myself , but I'm sure I wasn't the only one to think along these lines.
  8. 17 other teams sir. Game plan plus positional changes Junior in terms of other experienced coaches Lets not wait, lets keep abreast of the current state
  9. It's not about one game plan. Its's about a few plans plus optional positional moves and a hell of a lot of luck with injuries. Collingwood had most of their players available. But you also have to have the ability to read the play of the other team.. who might try a few approaches/plans multiplied by 17, means you need a great tactician who gets a feel for the dynamic and evolving nature of any game as if unfolds - so you can punch and counter punch. My question concerns where is Bailey in all this. I believe he is still at the teaching stage more appropriate for an assistance coach. There is no way he is anywhere near being a priemiership coach. I cann't remember the last time I saw one coaching from the boundary line. These days that's for the Junior boys. Don't quote Roos, because he had virtually handed over to the horse up in the stand.
  10. Some discussion has centred around Kossy to the Demons, mostly negative. David Hale has been touted as one marking forward we might very well be interested in. But is he any better than Kossy. Kossy just played in an AFL Grand Final albeit without success. David Hale played in the VFL grand final and hardly set the world on fire. He hasn't played at AFL level for most of the year in a modet team. Is this just the usual Demon dreaming again. Have spoken to two North supporters. One claimed he has been passed by two maybe three better and younger players. Yes he can mark, can kick for goal and is a good tap ruckman, but would frustrate my friend because he wouldn't put his body on the line enough or more importantly into a pack. I spoke to a North supporter sitting in front of me at the Grand Final (I had lost interest in the way the game was going). His comment was that when the others passed him they tried to make him a forward but it didn't really work. Mind you Leigh Brown left the Kangas and he's doing Okay. Maybe Hale needs another opportunity, but then maybe not
  11. Man is he good. Goodes, Pavlich, Goddard are my preferred type of player for the number ones in the comp.Yes for me ahead of the Abletts, Judds, Swans, Pendelbury. Runners run with the tide. Large athletic utilities, more often that not turn the tide. Goddard would have won the Norm Smith if it included the two games combined. He was the series winner.
  12. I'd like to see as much innovation in our coaching department as there is in every other department of the club. I want to see more growth and development in this area of our club. I fear we think it will just happen.
  13. What's new? There are magpie supporters up there too!
  14. Bassett didn't want to play for us. He wouldn't want to cross the border for us.
  15. How about we cut the 8 down a few and end up with a best of three grand final. We could knock the pies off yet.
  16. I am prepared to congratulate the pies. Good wins over the Cats and Saints. However, I have two big questions about their future. Hugging the boundary line has gradually slipped by others but I think it has a limited success route. Do you remember the Hawks rolling zone, where did it go? Can a team endure without a centre half forward and full forward. I congratulate Mick Malthouse for finally getting the best out of a good even team of runners who could bypass these key position players.
  17. Last week I affirmed the performance of the umpires. Common sense, which I affirmed in their performance last week changed. They actually changed the rules today. There was little semblance of the rules we lived by this year. Then suddenly in the 3rd and 4th quarters they started plucking a few tiggy touchwood "2010 like" free kicks out of the air. Just shows you if you praise them it goes to their head and they lose the plot. Better luck next year.......who am I kidding?
  18. Why not start with Roos as a part time mentor. Pay him big money and fly him down a few days a week if he is now more family orientated
  19. I have a different concern about coaching. Collingwood, now Essendon, maybe GWS are all exploring a different approach to coaching. A far bigger comprehensive team, with some well experienced mentors. I am getting the feeling even now we are dropping behind the leading clubs. With great respect to Bailey, Mahoney, West there ain't much experience there.
  20. I've already said I'm against replays for Interstate teams concerns. A compromise suggestion is play two 7 or 10 minute quarters and if still level replay, although that doesn't help the interstate issue
  21. Good to know their is a way to address these matters. For a long time I followed Demonology then tried to join but it was impossible. Joined Demonland and have enjoyed the opportunity. The quality of this is much better, even if at times it still lacks a lot, but then who cares?
  22. Why were the umpires deemed OK this week? Because they changed their mentality. They used common sense and only picked the most obvious ( except Milnes push in the back - Yes and even I was barracking for the Saints ). They let the game flow properly. Why not for the whole year?
  23. Clearly in support of extra time. Replays of draws are a VFL tradition. So many traditions have changed, eg. away strip which is ridiculous. In 2 years we will have 8 interstate teams and 8 melbourne teams. The AFL is expert at managing an uneven competition. But certainly don't let them get away with the grand final. Fancy the QLd and WA teams having to play a replay in the grand final especially against Collingwood who don't travel but get most of the season on the G. Get it right now before it happens. Surely we want a semblance of fairness.
  24. Good luck to them. I'd let Gary Lyon walk straight into our coaching job if he was interested.
