And take the gamble on another high end pick of God knows what quality. On top of that how many are you going to "cull" and how are you going to get a large number better replacements?

In earlier years players were not paid like they are now and many hung up the boots because they could no longer afford the time involved in playing at the highest level or what may seem strange now but there was more money available if you went to a VFA team or major leagues in the bush. 150 game players could literally double their pay by accepting a captains job at a club elsewhere.

We demoted the captain at the start of this year, it’s not a long bow. And as you say we have a history of poor treatment.

It is hard to see him leaving WA and even less chance of him returning to the MFC. He was a good player for us but also very high maintenance. I would love to have his 47 goal season back but it won’t happen.
