I have the same paint Chook.

Yes the one and only DJ, was a modest ruckman in his day but as a coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The sad bit Deeoldfart is I have been around that long I remember them all Well most. There are actually a lot of years that I wish I could forget. But you are right as my wife keeps telling me " don't worry about another birthday it is a lot better than the alternative".
-
Lighten up just a little joke there
-
The name does not work for me! Sounds like he should be singing in Memphis or Tamworth not running around the MCG
-
Can you speak to him about a couple of tips for Saturday?
-
My God there are some old Bastards on this thread! The really sad think is I remember all you are talking about. Yes Prof, Denis Clark was good for a few years . I think a knee injury took him out, probably the sort of injury theu fix now and have the guy playing again in 8 weeks. Somethings have definately improved. Some one mentioned Greg Parke he must have been the worst kick for goal the Dees have every had in the forward line ( and we have had some poor ones over the years ) I would hate to know the number of matches he kick 1 goal 6 and 4 out on the full. He left the dees and went to the Dogs and then used kick 7 straight from 50 meters out against us. How a hated him in those years. Better stop I am starting to depress myself. PS Anyone remember Spud Dullard? PPS Gary Hardiman was my hero, played his heart out for the Dees when we were very ordinary

Now how old do you feel WYL? Seems like only a couple of years ago!
-
Not sure how you do that, how do you work out if someone intends to leave in 2 years time? You pick what you see as the best player and then try and instill in him the desire to stay. It worked with JT but not TS. I keep promising myself I will not talk about him anymore but here I am. That is it I promise no more TS talk from Me!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing WYL. I believe he had every intention of moving on from the MFC when he was drafted. It was always about the highest bidder, if the highest bidder had been the MFC he would still be with us. But he is not. Now hindsight might show he did us a favour with his knee. But you have got to let it go. We picked the wrong guy he is gone to GWS. Nothing more to do but get on with life and enjoy the players we have and will draft in a few days time.

Fortunately She has other saving graces DC and with the exception of 2010 you get to laugh at the numerous GF losses. Would not swap her for the world.
-
No mate I am not that silly just drop her off and Friends Husband and I go off to the local. Well that is the plan
-
DC have you ever been to a NFL game. I went to a couple of times in the mid 80,s Taken by some yanks I was working with at the time. Very stop start, I enjoy it a lot more on TV

My wife and her life long girlfriend think it is great the new deal with Foxtel. They are mad pies fans ( is there any other sort ) They gave up their memberships after 2010 because it is in their view "Too hard now to be a PIES member and go to games". "too many members makes it hard to get a good seat " They got very tired of finding their way home from night games amid all the drunks etc. Her girl friend is getting Foxtel so they are looking forward to games in front of the big screen with a Champers. No drunks ( well except them ), always a good seat, no transport costs, Pies are cheap and Champers reasonable. Guess who gets to play taxi?

You are correct RR I should have said "two weeks starting 23rd July"
-
Hope you have better luck than me DC I find the AFL site poor, I always have trouble finding historial data. But maybe it is me
-
Whatever way you look at it this it was not one of the finest hours of the MFC. A disaster all round w/c 30th July.
-
dead right we are in total agreement.
-
That covers it for me RobbieF PS how is Mrs Robbie ? hope she has improved
-
BB I was never a big fan, lots of comments from me on Demonland bemoaning his game plan etc. Do you think he was hardly done by? PS who was the last good coach who's team got beaten by 25+ goals?
-
It does not hurt if the team plays well. If the storm were finishing in the last 3-4 would they have such good attendances I think not. But you are correct it is in the blood of Victorians. The two Vic soccer clubs are top of competition.
-
Are you suggesting that DB was hardly done by? Was he a good coach IYO?
-
This is the extreme rpfc but have you ever been to a NFL game. It is so stop start and takes 2.5 - 3 hours to play a 1 hour game. It is the most boring football game on earth however put it on Tv with replays and good commentary and I enjoy it. While not to the same extent I think NRL is similar. I don,t mind watching it on TV but the games I have been to leave me bored. Basket ball is terrible on TV but I like it live and go to a number of Tigers games ever year. Only my opinion but I think some sports are definately better on TV.
-
You are right but on the November 8th 2011 I do not care beyond the fact that it was a very poor year for the MFC. DB was the coach he was ordinary and he is gone.
-
I reckon there will be a lot of free tickets given away the first year. Not sure what other people think but IMO NRL is a game that is better on TV than in the flesh, I think AFL is the reverse.
