Junior I doubt it has escaped your notice but we have a poor list. Changes have to be made, if we cling to every player who once played good games we will stay anchored to the bottom. For whatever reason Moloney has been poor this year. His contract is up He is a restricted fee agent This will be his last contract He obviously sees his future else where or his agent would not be putting out stories from early this year. I think he has played his last game in the Red and Blue sad but that is AFL in the 21st Century

You are on the money Dee_flower Making the 8 in 2013 is the stuff of fanasty. Reality is we will struggle to get 5- 6 geniune wins.

I doubt it is that good Redleg having said that I think the chance is not before 2020 PS For me it has gone beyond winning a flag With 18 teams and the two new ones getting plenty of assistance for the next 20 years it will get very difficult to make a GF let alone win one I doubt it will happen in my life time. I will be happy if the MFC can improve to the point we are a powerful team that wins 2/3 of our games. That will make me a happy man.

I think Dees supporters are close to the most patient on Earth. Why would we still be around after the last 7 years if were impatient.

Of course we cannot dump 25 players from the list but a large number of them have to be replaced over the next 3 years If we had Hawthorns list we would be discussing finasl action and who the best 22 will be. Yossarian I do not think your statement is actually true. The MFC has not been shite for the whole of the last 47 years we have had a few purple patches. Having watched Fitzpatrick from the start at Casey Jt I do not agree. He has shown signs since the start, in his second year he was playing good games at Casey to be given his first AFL game at the end of that year. Cook is not within a bulls roar of an AFL game. He cannot even play in the Casey senior side at the end of his second year.

DemonWA far be for me to defend RR he is capable of doing that himself. But I think we all have to acknowledge that the MFC has a poor list, it is no accident that we have only one geniune win and sit last on the ladder after 5 years of rebuilding the team. That suggests to me that a large number of our team are not AFL standard. As Dees supporters we try and find the best in our team even when it is crap. AS you describe JM's best attribute is his endeavour, and you need that ingredient as an AFL football. But against the top half dozen sides it will never make up for a lack of skill. JM may well be a symptom of our problem He gets a game every week!

I actually think the whole AFl attitude to players and coaches having to do interviews is wrong. What was gained from watching Ratten last weekend after his career just went down the toilet. Or some kid clearly out of his depth?

I agree with your basic premise hardtack but unfortunately his poor kicking means he struggles to do it well most weeks. I do not think he has the skill to be part of a top 4 side. I said "He is a good tagger and will play a useful role for the next few years" But I do not see much more value than that in him.
