MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 10
John Crow Batty replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Being in every game is meaningless when we are out of it when it counts. 3 of our 4 wins we have taken decent big leads to the final quarter. Every arm wrestle lost bar one. Last season we only managed to fight it out back in round one. This year so far we have improved it to round 2. There is a pattern there. -
Selwood putting on a ducking master class tonight.

I just hope the players don think they'll get an easier ride because Ablett is out. -

It means they don't have a clue to how he will be like next week. Lots of weeks forthcoming. -

We make our own luck. It is clear we concede the initiative to struggling sides all the time. No longer a matter of co-incidence. -

I wonder if he said that about Adelaide? -
I think there is rule against that.

Didn't ruin Dawson's career. Been and still playing senior AFL since 2005. Been a constant criticism magnet though. The original long lived OMac.

One thing for sure, going by poster reactions here you are good at putting posters to the boil.
-
Lady Luck setting us up and the punters for another loss.
-
I guess at your age now you are only good for boiling for stock like an old chicken. But old tats have more street cred.
-
Some here miss sarcasm. The point is that the players don't seem to find a regular diet of 4 points appetising without out something extra added to spur them along.

A tetralogy of spuds.

Don't worry there will be those who will bring out arguments, excuses and facts GC are better than us and always have been if we lose. We have been dynamically strong in parts in all games. Leadership and fickle attitude has failed us badly in this topsy turvey season. Unrealistic to expect that we could have won all our games but for sure lack of strong leadership at the finish and sleep starts has cost us 2 or 3 wins.

Knowing a few old school tat wearers, those who wear tats are like soup and there are two kinds. The first are like a bag of rough bones boiled for hours and make a hearty stock. The other kind are water added to instant noodles.

Way to go. Something clearly has not been right for a long time. -
I hope the players go easy on GC and save themselves for the 'big one' on QB. Kent gets a reprieve.

Those morons at AFL House have finally woken up. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/afl-to-introduce-midseason-rule-change-to-crack-down-on-punching-20170523-gwautt.html

Mitch is a very strong player. Could turn to be a Jordan Lewis type

Agree, the umps were perhaps the worst I have ever seen in this game, but we overcame their outrages to draw level in the last quarter. It was not them that caused us to stop playing.
-
Well he better work harder on the on field leadership. He can't be a last minute substitute. Freo against Richmond is a prime example. The coach is in the elevator and the players set up perfectly to win a clearance and open up the forward line whilst our brothers in ineptitude Richmond don't even flood the backline with 21 seconds to go. Or like us when they force a turnover and there is 3 defenders to 5 forwards in their forward 50 when the ball arives. There must be a reason why Goodwin keeps his hair close cropped.
-
Just love how all the apologists keep looking for excuses in our structures, experience, blaming umpires, personnel or lack of to explain away why we have lost so many close games. In four of our losses the games were all winnable in the last few minutes. We always defer to the sides that want to win more than us. If we broke even and won 50/50 we would be flying high.
-
Freo know better how to finish off close games. They way they set up in the final minute to beat us and also Richmond is master class stuff. If we were more clued up we could have easily had two more wins and be 5th or higher. Cue in onfield leaders.

He doesn't do anything for the reputation and image of sleeve tat wearers. Compensating for what I wonder?
