Is Ling a commentator or special comments?
John Crow Batty replied to TGR's topic in Melbourne Demons
What has been annoying me is how he's been going on the past fortnight about how Geelong have the right know how and template to beat the Crows. Does not mention that we beat them on their own turf and also neglects to mention that beating them with their own huge home dung hole advantage may be a factor. -
I am puzzled why those Adams comments gets supporters carnal juices flowing and think it will fire us up. Implies the players need something extra to give a 100%. Are not 4pp's and possible jump to sixth place on the ladder enough motivation? I am sick of the so called need for all these external motivaton excuses, blah! Happens ever year on QB before we promptly fall off the perch for the remainder of the season.

Luckily they didn't jumper punch him.

Doubt on Watts playing QB. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/melbourne-confident-jack-watts-will-face-collingwood-despite-ankle-scare-20170606-gwlei3.html

Are you really that tall or just standing on your soapbox?

Tom Hawkins gets a week down from two for jumper punching Crouch. I guess Bartel had boxed himself into a corner with his comments last week.

Since 2015 we have won a total of 22 games with an average winning margin of just under 32 points. In that time we have only won 2 and lost 9 games under 15 points. We beat a very wasteful GWS by 2 points in round one 2016 and GC by the same where we did everything to lose and got lucky they fluffed the last kick of the game. By form we have far less than 20% chance of winning a close game and when we win it will be more likely by 5 or more goals. 14/22 wins were by 5 or more goals. 6/8 wins were between 22 and 29 points. If close we rely more on the other sides greater incompetance rather than our efforts. We are a better side this season and in contention but inability to close out the mentally tough games is keeping us in the middle of the pack.
-
If the game is close and Collingwood play with the same intensity and desire as against Freo in the last quarter despite a bench full of cripples we won't win. It was a long time ago when we finished off a hard fought game like that and prevailed. If we win in a canter, hard questions will still not be answered.
-
I don't fear Mayne and Cox. But then again they are playing us so they could be anything.
-
I can see two possible results. We win by 40 odd points or lose a very close one. That has been our lot this season.
-
Wow, a few key Collingwood players could be out! A chance to maybe move up to sixth in our marquee game? What can go wrong? We don't ever let these kind of opportunities slip.

And letting poor sides to take the initiative and relying on 'the fight back' all the time. Also not being able to close out tight finishes.

Bombers in the Land of the Fakirs... AFL in India
John Crow Batty replied to Diamond_Jim's topic in Melbourne Demons
The altitude might bother the players. Dharmasala is more like Tibet than typical India. 1000 to 1500 metres higher than anywhere where footy is played in Australia. -

Love Indian food but it can be dangerous especially street food. Haven't been there for 30 years and got sick often on both my trips there. Eaten street food in places like Laos, China and Vietnam without problems many times. The worst case was being stuck in a stinking hot airport transit lounge for about 18 hours. Couldn't get out and there was no food or drinks for sale. Only water was from a water cooler which I was forced to drink or die of thirst. Had to be hospitalised when I got back here. -
It was common knowledge that Scully and Trengove were the ones even before midway through the season. We got karma for tanking. If we didn't tank and finished higher up, those two may have been taken by other clubs and we could have got Martin. Two more wins would have pushed us up to 14th and I believe we were good enough for up to 8 wins that season if we played fairdinkum.

And the Delhi Belly and ring of fire. -
Trengove might get a tribute game if we bomb out of the finals race.

Take your time and relax. You can have the whole stadium to yourself. Whats sure is we can't lose this one.

2017 State of Origin (Hypothetical)
John Crow Batty replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
SOO ultimately died here because it was a big yawn and when the AFL became national that was the end. The fans, clubs and players almost all gave it the thumbs down. Club culture in AFL is rich and strong unlike rugby where it is a fringe sport pretending it is a major sport. Just like dull Olympic sports which need externalised competition to stir up primeval parochialism in a circus environment to generate any interest. Never liked SOO when it was around and don't miss it. We have the perfect game and why mess with it with lesser silly glorified exhibitions which will only degenerate the game? -
