Better, but still lacking.

Couldn’t agree more....horrible attitude, offers nobody anything.

POSTGAME: Rd 12 vs Brisbane
And that’s the understatement of the year.

GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs Brisbane
Kozzie just needs not to lean back on the kick, push body weight forward, simples.

GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs Brisbane
We’re not even close to them sadly. They have the best forward line in the league, so playing one on one and making each of our back 6 accountable gives them the advantage, particularly cos they’re also winning the clearances with good possession, thus getting good service, and from the halfback line, where they’re also winning. Hard to imagine this not getting ugly, unless we somehow start taking control at the stoppages, moving quickly into 50 and accurately. Can’t see it, frankly. They’re by some margin the best team we’ve played this year, and by that assessment, best team in the AFL as of now. Still, footy’s a funny game.

GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs Brisbane
Gonna take a mighty shut-down effort this one. They’re outstanding, and making us look very ordinary.

Why Can't Sam Complete his Marks?
Funny thing memory. I remember Parke as too short for a KPF, too slow, and couldn’t kick straight, or take enough marks. Probably horribly harsh. Now Gary Hardeman could mark.

Why Can't Sam Complete his Marks?
Haha, haven’t played since before any of the current team were born, and not since ‘Dubbinning’ my boots to protect against some very sodden ovals. Thanks for reminding me....??

Why Can't Sam Complete his Marks?
Good stuff, Grippo. I used to use it, and on slippery days it was a huge help in marking. Waterlogged days and perfectly dry days not so much. Sam’s issue is confidence. Timing and belief are everything, both fly out the window when you’ve had some time out, and are finding the rhythm of the team. He’ll get it back, and it will grow with each mark. The bigger issue is, as some have said, his intent without the ball. Needs to get more urgency in wanting to get the ball back.

PODCAST: Rd 11 vs Western Bulldogs LIVE @ 8:30pm (31/5)
Excellent news, an early Demonland podcast. Will listen while doing the obligatory exercise this morning. Is always a great listen, thanks Andy, George, Grapeviney and binman.

Bayley Fritsch
About the most natural, instinctive footballer we have, someone whose body couldn’t seem less suited to the modern game, and yet he crops up consistently, making the most of his talents. Too many ignore his positive output, yet when he has a quiet game, jump on him like a ton of bricks. Easily our most productive forward, as the numbers tell.

What they're saying down at Barkly Street
If this COVID keeps up, we’ll be playing all our games in a Cage, and with long hair because we’re not allowed to see the Barber. (Oh dear)

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Brisbane
Suspect replacement for Lingers might come down to venue - size of ground, need for sustained speed, total km needing to be travelled on the wing and all that. Quite a few options even if he is irreplaceable. Also, happy that Lions weren’t tested this weekend.....much like Dogs v Saints the week before we got them.

NON MFC: Rd 11 2021
Agree, yet the odds are - Lions $1.20, Giants $4.60. Seems strange.

Langdon Concussion
This. Rivers, as we all know, is a gun. Fast, defensive, attacking, good hands, beautiful raking kick. He reminds me of Stephen Tingay.

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Brisbane
Rivers to wing (safer than Hunt and he’s going to end up a midfielder anyway), Lockhart in to halfback.

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Western Bulldogs
By biological calculations, (and, more squiffily, according to my mother) I was conceived mere days after our last flag. I could debate your claim on purely materialist terms relating to ‘existence’, but I won’t. If being alive is ‘breathing’, you win. Love how a win leaves such room for the existential things. More please...

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Western Bulldogs
Can’t agree, as once again there was horrible inconsistency around the tackle rules. Better than last week most certainly, and evenly distributed to both teams, but still woefully unpredictable. I have no idea which way they’ll decide on tackles more than 70 percent of the time. Needs fixing.

Because he beat Bontempelli in a one on one and wasn’t rewarded with a free kick? FMD.

COVID & AFL 2021
ManDee, you (and frankly most of the world) are misunderstanding what efficacy percentage means. Here’s a link to explain it - https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099(21)00075-X/fulltext. It’s a decent read, but worth it for clarity. Simply put, the efficacy of all the vaccines available to us (AZ no less) in preventing hospitalisation and death even if one contracts the virus is complete. There is no difference between them for what they are designed to do. Edit : Here’s another to explain the diff between efficacy and effectiveness. Thus far, all vaccines have had basically the same ‘effectiveness’. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/what-is-vaccine-efficacy

COVID & AFL 2021
I’ve been straw-polling my patients on whether they’ve been vacced, and reactions. All but a handful who can but haven’t, cite apparent lack of urgent need due to small/nil community numbers. The worst reaction I’ve heard was a 30 year old S.O.G Copper, superfit obviously, who reckons he couldn’t get out of bed for 2 days with flu-like symptoms. My own reaction was perhaps the worst I’ve heard for over 50 year-old (weak as p**s probably) - had about 3-4 hours of fever aches 12 hours after, and a bit rubbish next 2 days. Not one person has regretted having it. Obviously!
