He is so NOT the problem!

Not sure we’ll see Weid again this year, unless Tmac or Dogga go down (or one of the big 3 in the backline go down and Tmac gets moved back). Based on Casey last week, that’s the ‘replacement’ role I reckon he’ll now play, which is much more to his strengths, not a permanent KPF, but a mobile tall/2nd ruck with forward skills.
  3. As with all comparative awards based on such variable criteria, it’s really a bit of silly fun. JJ and Dogga are very different players of whom different things are expected and required. That they’ve both jumped to ‘undroppable’ status so quickly is remarkable, particularly as to those outside the club, including us, JJ is a completely unexpected gift. In the space of 14 games, he’s already the complete footballer …. Hard, smart, on the pace, good hands everywhere, great tackler, decision maker and user. Unglamorous no doubt, but hardly less valuable than Dogga to a successful ‘team’.

Contraceptive pill also something like 5 times more likely to cause clots, but that’s just women, so much less important. Obviously. ?

Thrombocytopenia, which is the very rare AZ issue, has no relationship, as far as I’m aware, to other clotting issues like your DVT history. I’d discuss this specifically with your GP, though, picket. If there’s no increased associated risk, get the AZ. Everybody who can should, cos who knows when we’ll get the supply our Government insisted we were ‘first in the queue’ for, which they now admit actually means LAST. FMD!
  6. Mostly May as I recall, but TG was everywhere, including midfield starts. Great show again gents.

Can also confirm that his wife and kids are Dees supporters. I know, shocker!

I’ve been to the footy with your Uncle Wilbur. I can re-confirm he is most definitely a Dees supporter, scarred yet hopeful, like others of his gen.
  9. It is obvious, but it’s worth reiterating, because most forget that it’s the most relevant fact. Week to week form is king in the media, because they lack both foresight and hindsight.
  10. Loved his game too. Was nostalgic. Would make me tres happy if he were given a promotion and stayed there. None more deserving, and his efforts on Sunday suggest (I hope) that it’s more likely than not.
  11. I’ll leave it to Steven May’s assessment to sum up my thoughts ….he seems to know what’s needed to go somewhere in finals. “We’re nowhere near [our best form],” May said. “We need to be a lot more efficient going forward. “Even though we defended well, we don’t want to defend like that every week – it’s not sustainable. “But in saying that, I’m proud of how we have set our season up.”

It seems obvious that Brown will be tried again before finals. That’s why he was brought to the club. So if not now - 8 weeks out from finals, then when? He’s a tall marking, goal kicking forward, who for all the argued ease of his game yesterday, nonetheless kicked 5. If that’s not enough to bring him in this week, particularly considering our ordinary performance inside 50 on Saturday, then the match committee must have a mysterious plan. Well, a mystery to us, anyway. Who makes way? I’d tip Sparrow, which is harsh, but Viney will pick up some of the inside slack as he finds his groove.

Eagles at home in Perth without a crowd is worth 1-2 goals a quarter. With that neutralised, as just now, they’re just not all that. Good luck for the Bulldogs, and have to say I’m jealous at how well their forward line is functioning.
  14. Because finals usually defer to defensive contests, proving your own point about defence being primary. By saying we could have kicked 14.9 instead, like it’s a stat you can invert, ‘just like that’, is one of the most annoying, frustrating, pointless things I hear supporters say. We didn’t kick 14 goals because we weren’t able to. We kicked 9. If we had kicked 14, obviously no-one’s complaining. Isn’t that the point?
  15. Essendon had 13 AFL listed players out there. 3 or 4 of our old boys excepted and I doubt they were any younger. Still, you’ve got an angry agenda, so whatever.
  16. No problem with all that, and our defence is currently the best in the AFL, which is the MOST important factor in finals success. I’m not sure we can get much better defensively, though. If the other part, the NEXT most important part in winning games isn’t better by finals, when we have to assume the other contenders will have raised their defensive game, there is no doubt to me that we’ll struggle. Exactly like we did last night against a team who probably WON’T make finals, let alone top 4. To our great credit, we seem to come up for the big games, of which there’s a bunch coming up. FWIW, I think we’ll get the forward 50 stuff together, but last night, the goals scoring part of our game was dysfunctional, and it won’t end well if it doesn’t improve.
  17. Haha, that Hird goal was 4 Casey players going up to spoil, only for it to come off for the crumb. Dumb dumb footy. Most of our Dees brigade look a serious class above. Like the look of all the newbies, no exceptions. Bedford is very very quick, and good. Needs an AFL gig, poor kid. Love that Nathan Jones, no. 2. Is he on our list?
  18. He’s a monster kick though and pretty good with set shots, was well in range, so playing on seemed a bit low percentage to me. Otherwise, you’re right of course. Dare I say the same for Dogga’s brain fade.
  19. Not based on the last 2 games. So much is fickle about this game, any team can be on the rollercoaster downslide at any moment. If we rediscover the form, and become more offensively dangerous, of course we can. No doubting we’re in the best position of any team currently to do it, and that’s a huge credit to the team, but past achievements count for nothing when it matters most.
  20. Hope so, but we can only speculate. If not the case, best we can hope for is that we’re just having the inevitable form slump. Otherwise, it’s a worry.
  21. Not sure I agree about the extra tall issue, because too often tonight we were kicking to horrible height disadvantages in the forward fifty. We just ‘looked’ short up front. Luke Jackson, for all his impressive work and star quality, doesn’t yet have the forward craft to be an effective second tall. The worry, as you say, is that BBB or the Weid do nothing for stopping easier exits, and I agree, too often tonight they had the ball outside our attacking fifty before we applied effective pressure. Where that’s gone since the Bulldogs game, who knows?
  22. Was at the game. None of the comments here dissing the Essendon supporters is unfair. They are/were ABSOLUTELY FERAL! I knew this about them going in (there’s a reason I never got taken to Windy Hill as a boy), but somehow forgot….COVID memory weirdness maybe. No doubt the most bizarrely aggressive/aggrieved/irrational supporter group going around…..still! Good that we won, ugly and all that, but we’re simply going nowhere in finals if the current attacking/goal scoring dysfunction isn’t sorted. At the moment, our defence alone is what’s winning us games, and that’s not going to be enough at the pointy end, I don’t care how good it is. The reason we’re not having any ‘big’ wins, is because we just don’t have the scoring capability to put teams to the sword. Add to this that our disposal efficiency/skill level has dropped away noticeably (includes set shot inaccuracy and distance issues), and we need to find better, sharper, fresher form in general. The good thing is we’re still on top and have 8 more games to do so. Without it however, we’re not getting anywhere near the silverware. Steven May and Gus Brayshaw best on by some margin for mine.
  23. Clearly we know what you think, but what’s the answer to the question?
  24. Yeah, not sure if you’re not getting the point deliberately, or just don’t get it. I have no doubt Weideman will be dropped, or that his form means he deserves to be. I dare say he’d agree. The point is that you’ve personally judged him as being a failure in his chosen career. If you met him, would you say that to his face? I sincerely hope the answer is no. If it isn’t, well…..
  25. This sort of stuff is unacceptable. Have a bit of a think about it, and tell us all if you really think making that kind of personal judgement about a footballer at the highest level, who is undeniably valued by his peers but who you DON’T know, is either fair or justified. Just garbage.
