  1. Screw that, give him AFL experience. The sooner we have a key forward the better
  2. YES. That's what I was forgetting. He allows opposition to set up zones...argh, he needs to stop that
  3. Nah, he's created joy by joining a Demons forum. LEGEND MUCH
  4. STOP MOANING ABOUT SCULLY AND GYSBERTS' KICKING. They're first year players. They're not going to kick like Luke Hodge in their first year. I think you're asking a bit too much of them. Even when Gysberts got 27 touches on Saturday and 26 the week before, and Scully's consistently 20 plus. They're inside midfielders anyway, they're not going to kick that much.
  5. Not another thread about Petterd supposedly leaving... He's already developed IMO. If he can take big pack marks and kick goals the way he had been before he did his shoulder, then he's developed. And right now we really need him back.
  6. Grimes - but only on a good day. It amazes me how some of his kicks hit a player 40 metres away on the chest and some go to straight to opposition who are closer than that
  7. 6 - Jordan Gysberts 5 - James McDonald 4 - Cameron Bruce 3 - Neville Jetta 2 - Cale Morton 1 - Brent Moloney Top three of mine were probably tied best.
  8. Max Gawn - Will slowly develop into our No. 1 ruck. Expect him to be second ruck by 2012, first ruck once Mark Jamar retires. Paul Johnson - Expecting to see him delisted. Jack Fitzpatrick - Tall, high marking ruckman/forward? Can't wait until he develops, he'll be our CHF for sure. Stefan Martin - Not AFL standard IMO. Mark Jamar - No. 1 ruck, can play FF. Hopefully we can get a second ruck in ASAP to allow him to spend more time forward. Jack Watts - Just let him develop, it takes longer for the talls. Riewoldt wasn't a star in his second year. Brad Miller - Our key forward...down at Casey. Michael Newton - See Brad Miller James Frawley - IMO similar to Matthew Scarlett, tall defender who plays on tall and small forwards who rebounds and wins a lot of ball. Matthew Warnock - Premiership full back. Jared Rivers - Plays best as a loose defender but DB doesn't like playing him there. Cale Morton - Tall midfielder/half-forward. Not a KPP. Lynden Dunn - Right size for a key forward, but doesn't play like one. Half-forward flanker. Matthew Bate - Plays smaller than he really is. Half-forward who wins ball and kicks goals. Way better at ground than in the air. Colin Garland - We really should play him up forward, that's what he was drafted as. Will allow Joel Mac to keep his spot. I'm expecting our team to look like this eventually (obviously excluding injuries and players we'll draft in the future): B: Cheney Warnock Macdonald HB: Rivers Frawley Grimes C: Davey Trengove Morton HF: Bate Fitzpatrick Watts F: Jurrah Petterd Green R: Jamar Jones Scully INT: Gawn Moloney Gysberts Tapscott EMG: Bennell Jetta Garland That's 10 out of 25 that are talls. Hopefully it won't be any problem in the future.
  9. That's exactly my view on it - prior opportunity = holding the ball. I've said this and two other things, dropping and diving on it, cause a free for holding the ball, in an earlier post somewhere. But the umpires are so inconsistent that there's now so many more views on what is and what isn't a free kick. I was listening to North Melbourne vs Brisbane last night and a North player gave away a 50 metre penalty for asking the umpire to show some consistency. No anger, no threatening, just a simple question that gave away a 50 metre penalty. I think Brad Green's tackle on Heath Shaw in the last quarter in Round 2's a great example of how bad the umpires are at being consistent.
  10. IN: Frawley, McKenzie, Cheney, Dunn OUT: Rivers, Jones/McDonald (inj), Bartram, Miller Rivers needs a warning for a run of bad games. We need McKenzie in the team - the pressure he generates is amazing. Cheney should be rewarded for over a month of being in the best at Casey. Miller's not AFL standard. Even if he got superpowers and was able to fly, he still wouldn't be in my best 22. Dunn to be dropped the week after unless he kicks 3 goals at least, 2 and he should be considered. WE REALLY NEED PETTERD.
  11. Get Dermott Brereton over to talk to the club and get Luke Tapscott in ASAP
  12. Bartram - didn't see much Bate - pretty damn crap Bennell - rarely got it Bruce - great rebounding work Davey - maybe the worst Garland - very solid game Green - great marking Grimes - fairly good game Gysberts - rising star nomination Jamar - yet another ripper Jetta - pretty quiet game Jones - 1 great quarter McDonald - tagged Judd brilliantly Miller - out for Dunn/Hughes Moloney - great contested play Morton - more like it Rivers - possibly trade bait? Scully - first quiet game Sylvia - possibly regaining form Trengove - see Scully Warnock - check O'hAiLpin's stats Watts - one's not enough
  13. He and Barlow were being compared to Judd, Ricciuto and one other guy on the Fifth Quarter. Lock in the nomination, it doesn't get much better than 27 touches in the wet...unless you do a Round 7 Tom Scully
  14. Thing is, we really don't have a second ruck, so he would slot nicely into our 22...well, not nicely, it means taking somebody out of the team, which is hard enough already
  15. He's been sore all season. No surprise really.

    Watts the rage

Don't forget the bruised polystyrene cup.
  17. Hahahahaha Well, I'd take...uh...Jack Trengove and Tom Scully to start...
  18. Out of all our young guns, Scully is the only genuine in-and-under midfielder. We're gonna need more than one, and Jones will be the next best.
  19. Carlton is the preliminary final, then Collingwood is the grand final. We're going to go out and we're going to win, and I hope that's what Dean Bailey is telling everybody.
  20. Scully - Chris Judd Trengove - Not-as-tough version of Nathan Buckley or Michael Voss, but quicker Gysberts - James Hird-ish Tapscott - Paul Chapman like, but taller McKenzie - Cameron Ling/Junior Gawn - Aaron Sandilands Fitzpatrick - Tall marking ruckman/forward? A lean Brad Ottens Blease - Hard to say, I'm thinking Blease is to Melbourne what Joel Corey is to Geelong...except younger Strauss - Haven't seen or heard enough Watts - He'll make his own name - then again, I could say that about everybody
  21. The Herald Sun came up with this rating thingy based on form/injuries and gave playres a rating out of 30 (and of course Ablett and Judd both got 30) and I'm pretty sure Petterd was low to mid 20s, one of the higher up at the club. I'm pretty sure low to mid 20s was a second round pick. Not that it matters, he's playing for Melbourne in 2011.
