Disagree. Bate does not play tall - it's hard for me to believe he's over 190cm. Besides, we'd still have Dunn at 192, Jurrah at 190+ (is he still growing) and Petterd takes a good grab. Rivers plays best as a loose, third man up type defender. He reads the play so well that he basically can't stand right next to the forward. IMO Garland should take Roughy, with Rivers playing back deep helping him out. He did destroy Fevalenko two weeks ago before he got injured.

If I were GC I'd still take Miller over Bate - sure, he kicked 10 against rookies, but he's the big bodied leader they need. So did anyone else hear about Bate supposedly signing?

We get a draft pick based on how good the player is in the future. I think it might be in 2012. A player like Ablett would be worth a first rounder or two, where as I imagine Bate would be a second-round pick. Maaaaaybe end of the first round.
