  1. Just listened to the podcast - well done guys: some great questions. I don’t know why, but I always get a bit emotional when I hear Roos talk about his journey with the MFC. His opinions on the club have the benefit of true insight and should be listened to for a more measured analysis of where we are at right now. Regarding QB, he simply said that the Pies played really well and we didn’t play so well. That was it - no panic stations. He said that you can’t compare the current club and team to 2013/14 as it is a completely different entity - that club no longer exists. His only expectation is that we play finals this year, which continues our planned trajectory and sets us up for sustained finals over the next 5-8 years.
  2. I was at this game tonight (builders’ night out!) and thought both teams looked ordinary. There was very little pressure, except in the 3Q when the Pies won the game. Collingwood do have some genuine talent, but I think the relentless pressure we bring, when we’re on, will account for them. Not sure what has happened with the Doggies - they were atrocious.
  3. A well-balanced post. For a lot of that game we were equal to or slightly shading the Tigers. At 3/4 time, we led all the key stats which tells you something. To my mind, the return of TMac and Viney will help things considerably - they are amongst our best 10 players and both leaders on the field. At the moment, we have too many of the Harmes/Bugg/ANB/Stretch and, dare I say, Tyson brigade in our best 22. To my mind, only 2 out of those players should be making the team each week once TMac and Viney return. Also, our disposal and conversion is killing us! A few more of those inside 50s converted and the momentum swings our way. On the positive: it was great to see Brayshaw bash and crash again; OMac was a tower down back as was Lever; Oliver is an absolute gun - so tough and sublimely skilled. We’re still a way off, but I hope that we’ll settle into what will be a very even season and start to chalk up some wins before long.
  4. I think that TMac and Viney are huge outs at the moment. Both are in our best 10 players and both leaders on the field. Out of necessity, we have too many of the ANB/Harmes/Stretch/Hannan- type players in the team at the moment, when really only 2 of those guys should be making up numbers 21 and 22 in the team. I'll be interested to see how things change once we have a fit TMac and (hopefully) Viney out there, flying the flag.
  5. I was on Level 4 on the wing, so that was the first time I’d seen Dusty from that vantage point. As previous posters have said, there are/have been very few players like him, who have the physical, core strength, speed and kick that he does. It was impressive to watch, but not BOG for mine. When we pressured him in close, he often coughed it up or fumbled. I actually thought we dealt with him pretty well - two crunchers from Oliver and Hunt were great to see. He’s also something of a protected species: he should have been pinged at least once for holding the ball and also got a couple of very soft frees close to goal in the 3Q, which killed our momentum. That said, I would love him on our team.
  6. You should be fine - just get there as early as possible. I went last year without reservation (GA) and snagged a seat on Level One Ponsford, just round from the goals. Otherwise get up to L4 Olympic, which will be reserved up to about halfway back. Good luck!
  7. Anyone thought that maybe they were trying him back in the Coaches Box, but given what happened last week, they’ve moved him back down to the bench where he can get closer to the players?
  8. I also thought Lever was good yesterday, after a bit of a slow start. As well as his intercepts, he’s great at getting himself out of trouble and into space once he takes possession.
  9. Spice Girls shoes. Not that I’d ever say that to his face.
  10. In my opinion, the concussions have set him back a fair way. It seems as if he’s starting to get back to his best form, though. He is a gun, but still has to prove himself, like everybody else, and earn his spot. He probably looks [censored] off, because he’s running around at Casey this week, when he thinks he’s done enough to warrant selection. Hopefully, it’ll just make him hungrier - I think we’ll see him back for the MFC before long.
  11. Some good displays of hardness - bumps etc. Confidence that they were still in the game. Petracca, Oliver, Gawn, Hogan, Jones As a side note, Gerard Whateley said that he felt the Melbourne v Geelong game was the highest quality game of the weekend and that if you’d picked those 2 sides as legitimate contenders at the end of the year, you would have left the game convinced. Always good to get an outside perspective.
  12. This is crapola - poor pressure and tackling. Lewis and Vince are liabilities.
  13. I love it - it’s a little bit OTT, but adds to the theatre of it all.
  14. Don’t Believe In Never Not sure if everyone’s seen this yet, but fresh out of the club...
  15. My thoughts exactly - stick to a captain and vice captain only: the older and more experienced players should be leading by example regardless and should provide a sounding board for the captains, if required.
  16. I love watching the AFLW - comparing it to the men’s game is not comparing apples with apples. Yes, the skill levels might not yet be up to the (full-time) men’s game but, to me, that just adds to the excitement. Today’s game was super exciting as a Dees fan in fact the effort and heart from both teams was incredible - they were out on their feet at the end of the game. Long may it continue!
  17. We didn’t have a rookie pick.
  18. Surely the campest ad campaign yet? #toughguys
