  1. 6 to 8 weeks equates to 2018 AND beyond?
  2. Great first half, but it lost all of its appeal in the second half. Carlton couldn’t hold it together and gave the ball away far too easiy, while Richmond couldn’t kick to save themselves and showed glaring holes in their defence. Couldn’t take much away from that game in terms of indicators for the rest of the season from either team.
  3. Can we please have a new forum added to Demonland... perhaps call it The Chicken Little Forum (MFCSS is so passe)
  4. I seem to recall reading somewhere that like TMac, Viney's issue is with his toe - that is, unrelated to his original foot issue. So for those going on about his facia issue being mis-managed, you may be off the mark. This appears to possibly be an unfortunate coincidence.
  5. You have to be joking?? Firstly, the article states that it was unknown whether the gunman (student) shot himself or the armed officer shot him as both weapons were fired simultaneously. Secondly, by arming teachers you are placing them in the position of being the first target any shooter will be trying to take out of the equation. Teachers are not trained for face to face combat and therefore there is a good chance they will be unable to carry out their newly acquired responsibility. Thirdly, if a teacher does manage to avoid being the first shot and then is seen by armed officers holding and firing a weapon, are the officers going to enquire whether the shooter is in fact a teacher or are they going to do what they are supposed to do and take the gunman down? Arming teachers will NOT save lives... in fact it will likely only add to the toll.
  6. Aaaaaand, right on cue:
  7. Wow!! He was into everything wasn’t he.
  8. So you’re not a humanitarian then?
  9. Actually, ALS is a subtype of MND. https://www.alsmndalliance.org/what-is-alsmnd/
  10. This exactly! When all is said and done, we can only play the team they field. It’s swings and roundabouts as there’ll be times when we will be missing a star player or two, so we should be happy when it’s in our favour. I don’t celebrate the player’s injury, but I do celebrate the fact we have one less match-up to consider.
  11. Oh it’s PASSION... and here I was thinking it was just whining about irrelevancies.
  12. I watched The Shape of Water on my flight to Taipei on Tuesday... I thought it was brilliant.
  13. The only thing that surprises me about this is that it has managed to clock up 4 pages as a thread... seriously, why do any of us care about what ANY media pundit has to say, good or bad?
  14. Yet you seem to think that organisations such as the BOM will somehow benefit? There will always be weather and they will always be required to provide analysis regardless of the patterns... that is why they exist and nothing will change. Denialists just seem to go into meltdown because impartial organisations such as the BOM and NASA have something to say that doesn’t suit their agenda. And if, as you say, those companies have a diversified enough portfolio so as to benefit from other energy sources, why do they feel the need to bankroll supposedly high profile scientists, to support the denialist stance?
  15. No ET, I finished up there in the early 90’s... 15 years was more than any one person should have to endure. ?
  16. Haha... I worked at the Dept of Veterans' Affairs when it was located at 444 St Kilda Rd back in the late 70's... one of the few remaining houses was next door... it was a bright green massage parlour called The Gentle Touch. I recall one time 2 young guys trying to get their mate to go in early one afternoon... they looked up at our building in horror, and suddenly ran off in the other direction as quickly as possible; all 10 floors (or whatever it was) must have had crowds of people lined up at the windows watching.
  17. I'm not denying that possibility DC, but I do find it interesting that most conspiracies are directed at institutions such as the BOM and NASA, while it is the fossil fuel industry that stands to lose far more (much like the tobacco industry in the past).
  18. He lived out Ferntree Gully/Belgrave (or was it Kilsyth?) way didn't he? I really only remember him from Pick-a-Box... I know he was Science Minister but I didn't follow him too closely.
  19. If you compare T Mac of 2013 to O Mac of 2017, I think you would find not many would have selected Tom either... from memory, many on here at that time were questioning T Mac's worth.
  20. Barry Jones says hello.
  21. Yes, the BOM are collectively meeting in a dimly lit basement room, conspiring to manipulate their data in order to increase their salaries. Now from that conspiracy, how do you think that their jobs are going to change in order to facilitate that increase? Wouldn't it be the the non-fossil fuel industries that would stand to gain? Or are you saying that they are also secreted in that same basement room doing a deal with the BOM in which the BOM are guaranteed a percentage of their funding? I love conspiracy theories. Perhaps all of those scientists that ET cites above are meeting in another dimly lit basement room, along with executives from the fossil fuel industry, doing a deal in which they gain increased funding for helping to keep the fossil fuel industry afloat by publishing the occasional paper that talks down man made influences on climate change.
  22. No idea Choke... perhaps it's an indicator of someone a little different... it's always the physical traits that seem to be associated with marketability... Gawn only really got noticed once the beard appeared, Hunt with the locks and headband, Jones, Dustin Martin and Dane Swan with the tatts. Of course the talent needs to be there as well, but marketing, whether we like it or not, is about superficiality.
  23. Agreed... but relatively minor transgressions at AFL and VFL level that each resulted in one week bans, is hardly enough of a reason to go questioning the mental state of a player.
  24. But then again... https://www.smh.com.au/business/investments/joel-macdonald-s-getswift-under-asic-investigation-20180228-p4z233.html
