  2. He’s from NZ isn’t he? 😁
  3. Thanks mate… no problem, I’ll try to find it myself (I’m a lazy sod 😁). EDIT: found it, but unfortunately it’s behind a paywall, and the usual trick I use for the Age and Sydney Morning Herald (turning off Java script in the browser), doesn’t work 😞
  4. It’s a bastard of a disease that sadly doesn’t discriminate when it comes to the victim’s age or situation. It’s so wrong that someone in the prime of her life and with a young family who love her, should have to suffer so much and be taken from those who love her, far too soon. Do you have a link to the article @Redleg ?
  5. I thought that was a very good article which was a little more honest (transparent?) than anything I’ve read coming out of the club in recent years; however, my inner ‘Nosey Parker’ would love to have read the reason for Clarrie’s supposed storming out of his meeting with King and what was actually said at that point of the meeting (particularly Clarrie’s parting words). There’s a lot of talk about the new recruits such as Mihocek and Steele and the influence they will have on the playing group, not to mention May’s commitment to teaching the young up and coming players that will replace him in the not too distant future. However, the big unknown is whether King is capable of successfully implementing the plans he sold to the interview panel… I live in hope! I’m looking forward to season ‘26 with a reasonable level of excitement!
  6. Hopefully we pick up Lachy Dovaston in the draft.
  7. I don’t think it’s baloney at all… for all we know, I could be as old or even older than you 😉, although if the 1947 in your profile name is your year of birth, you do win by 5 years 😁 In this case I believe ‘trite’ is appropriate… particularly as the comparing of a footballer’s onfield performance (or lack of) with ‘being in the trenches’, is somewhat trivialising something as serious as trench warfare. Anyway, it was a tongue in cheek comment and is definitely not the first time this point has been made on Demonland over the years. Let’s just leave it at that.
  8. Well, you actually didn’t mention anything about ‘discriminatory’, and as the Oxford describes that term as “making or showing an unjust or prejudicial distinction between different categories of people, especially on the grounds of ethnicity, sex, age, or disability.”, I’m a little unsure of the point you are making. I doubt that you’re much older than myself so can you explain what your last sentence means. I certainly wasn’t inferring anything at all…merely commenting that the expression is ‘trite’ (if that’s what you were getting at).
  9. It was a joke…but just out of interest, in what way was it rude? It was not directed at the poster, but at that phrase which is so often used and so inappropriate, in describing a footballer.
  10. As you should be! You’re most welcome.
  11. While I agree with the rest of your post, this trite old phrase should be put on the banned forever pile!
  12. Does it really matter what these media pundits say? Not worth wasting energy on, in my opinion.
  13. And let’s not forget Noah Yze is a possible rookie (is there room for him?). If we trade 7 & 8 up, then I like the look of Robey. If we go with 7 & 8, I’d be hoping for Noah Hibbins-Hargreave or Grlj and Dovaston.
  14. I haven’t seen it actually stated anywhere, but are GCS taking on all of Trac’s contract? If so, that really softens the blow of the Clarry ‘deal’, in which case I’d have to say B+ to an A-.
  15. The part of the letter that I find a bit dodgy, is the bit I’ve quoted, regarding Clarrie… requested? Really? Takes me back to the old Bellbird days…Charlie Cousins, did he fall, or was he pushed? (oh, and Andy, you may want to consider a minor change to the post’s title 😉)
  16. I don’t know the truth or otherwise of this, but someone in one of the Dees groups on Facebook just posted that pick 8 was off to West Coast. Anyone know anything about this?
  17. A couple of more clips from that gig a few weeks ago follow. We will play another show on Saturday week 25th and then our 10th anniversary show on Sunday November 23rd. I’m still feeling the effects of chemo, even though I’m now almost a couple of months free of it… the peripheral neuropathy is here to stay, I’m having constant vertigo if I’m getting up from bed or from reclining on the sofa, my taste buds are still screwed and my energy levels are somewhat depleted. Other than that, everything is hunky dory. Anyway, here are a couple of tunes on my Instagram… https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOvVCLik5Cp/?igsh=MXJldXBmYTBjeGIwZg== https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOA7AQ-E5Fs/?igsh=c3V3Nzl3NzU0MzZ2
  18. I gave him the nickname of ‘The Difference’… now my son is certain that I’ve lost the plot! 🤣
  19. I don’t know about that… we’d be paying a substantial portion of Trac’s contract as would the Pies, assuming he’s still contracted (I’ve no clue), be paying fair slice of JdG’s; not to mention that they’ve moved on Flanders and others, who would clear a fair amount of cap space.
  20. @Rockets , is that you? That is remarkably close to your post on page 140 😉
  21. Consensual?
  22. We’re getting Sir Anthony Hopkins now??😵‍💫
  23. Understand, and agree.
  24. It’s not political, but I can see why you might think that. Anyway, we can agree to leave the discussion and yes, I’m always hopeful that we might experience success. At least I got to see a GF in ‘21 (albeit on TV) as I only got to listen on the radio when I was a kid.
  25. You’re way off in my case; I’m regularly checking in on the AFL app to see what developments have occurred… but as far as the footy media are concerned, and I’m sure you’d have to agree, they would usually be all over something like this! I mean, apparently channel 9 I think it was, used The DeeBrief’s (Facebook group) photo of Humphrey in a hoodee walking with Chunk and King in their secret meeting, on the same day it occurred; the fact that there’s just crickets/silence in this instance, makes me think that they did their due diligence and their investigations turned up nothing worth reporting.
