  1. I will be interested to see if any one of our players is going to "test" LeCras' arm early on in the game... I like LeCras as a player and don't wish major injury on any player, but a statement of intent is required and if they can unsettle (NOT injure) him early in the proceedings, our chances improve dramatically.
  2. Ridiculous comment... sports medicine and treatment of fractures etc is extremely advanced. I've seen MotoGP riders come back from leg fractures to be riding in just a few short weeks. Besides, do we know how serious the break was?
  3. I agree on everything you say about Grimes, but I think in the long term Jones is the better prospect as a captain... he has proven himself to be the most consistent on the field and at training and has proven that he is one of the very few who can perform under the pressure of expectation. Anyway, I shouldn't have taken us down this path I think... I will just praise Grimes for his committing to the club (and hope that a few more follow his lead) :-)
  4. Why, because he signed a contract? He is a good captain, I don't doubt that, but I'm now more of the thought that we would be better off with him as VC and Jones as capt. Both bleed red n blue, but Jones is the more consistent performer and sets an example every other player would be wise to follow; he is relentless, fearless and hard at it 100% of the time and on top of that, he has shown that a mediocre player can step up and become a class act.
  5. Oh come on... Byrnes has seen little of the ball simply because the likes of Blease were not getting it to the forward line.
  6. Well, living in Sydney, I have to say I don't get a lot of opportunity to pop over to Casey and am obviously not across all of the issues. However, the problems you are raising are not insurmountable and will hopefully be addressed by the new CEO, whoever that may be. My point was that it is an initiative that could be a boon to the club... and I believe I did use the words, "vast potential", which is very much the case.
  7. You asked for just one initiative... regardless of what you may like to imagine, Casey IS the fastest growing area around Melbourne and will have vast potential as a membership recruiting ground. As far as the Bentleigh Club goes, I have no idea of the figures, but I do recall many were becoming rather apoplectic over the potential loss to the club if we were to lose our gaming license as a result of the alleged tanking affair. You asked for one initiative and I gave you two... regardless of your own personal opinion.
  8. No idea what will be presented, but AD is apparently addressing the media in Sydney at 2pm regarding the latest events.
  9. I don't know about all of that, but as I understand it, the potential for memberships in that area is great... and I doubt too many locals would be concerned about the "isolation chamber" if the MFC starts to perform.
  10. In the case of Caro, shouldn't that be schadenFRAUD?
  11. No no no... let's do a poll about whether we should in fact, do a poll.
  12. Fair enough... being in Sydney, SEN isn't something I listen to regularly :-)
  13. At least he is out actively doing something for the club assisting with the membership drive... what exactly are you doing other that suggesting we just summarily execute anyone who has anything to do with the running of the club in the past 6 years?
  14. Bentleigh Club? Casey move... fastest growing region with great previously untapped membership potential... since the move in the area just by the sporting complex something in the order of 400 new houses have been occupied and the growth continues.
  15. Ok, I admit that the use of the word "temporary" was my own interpretation, and as I have not read anywhere that he would take a seat if offered, I took the following to mean that he was not really interested: "Schwarz said his discussion with McLardy was not about seeking a position on the club’s board. It’s not about getting on the board. It’s about helping, and whatever needs to be done will be done." http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/melbourne-will-accept-help--from-a-demon-20130410-2hl2t.html#ixzz2Q7QL2qe5"
  16. If McLardy is a reluctant president (and yes, he is), then so would the Ox be, as he has stated very clearly that he is not interested in any role on the board, but is simply willing to offer assistance in the short term.
  17. Actually, I don't mind the focus being on us, because it will hopefully hurt to the point where accountability kicks in and the players will make a determined effort to prove the pundits wrong. But yeah, I do know what you mean :-)
  18. If Essendon goes down for these charges, what will happen with their premiership points for this season? If they lose them, does that mean we gain 4 points from last week, or does the AFL look at our performance, laugh and give them to a losing side that actually made an effort?
  19. Words are cheap... who do you suggest we get as an interim coach? Who is available? Who can we afford? Craig has said he will NOT coach (he is very very definite about that), Sheedy, who I would not contemplate as a coach at all, is still tied to GWS, etc etc... so who do you suggest? And on the topic of experienced versus rookie coaches... how on earth do you think these experienced coaches began their careers? Do you think that just maybe they weren't always experienced? Do you think they may just have been rookies themselves at some point in their careers? In real terms, Neeld is in just his first real season of coaching as last year was about deconstructing/reconstructing the playing list and that is an exercise that will continue at the end of this season... we all knew about that from day one. And on Green's "sacking"... I believe he walked so that he could retire with his dignity in tact, so please do not attempt to rewrite history in an effort to pillory Neeld... From the Age: "Green, 31 and out of contract at the end of the season, confirmed today he would retire once the Demons' season ended in round 23. He also said he would not seek to extend his career elsewhere." http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/demons-veteran-green-to-retire-20120808-23tjm.html#ixzz2Q20RTtDp
  20. Festivus or the rest of us!
  21. Please mods, can you lock this thread poste haste - any comments (both negative and positive) simply serve to feed his insatiable ego. Cut off his oxygen now.
  22. No problem with that at all myself. No offence meant, but I wish we didn't have threads like this starting up because it just gives the usual suspects more opportunities to put their virtual boots into the players. These threads inevitably become a playground for the keyboard heroes.
  23. Didn't Robbo say on AFL360 last night, something about a big headline coming that included a mention of a $1m figure? Prophetic or is the club leaking like a seive? Anyway, if it is a resignation, surely there would be no payout involved.
  24. Maybe RR can step up to the helm?
