  2. I knew it!!! He's in league with the Daleks!!
  3. Sorry NB, I just ran your statement through the Demonland Logical Conclusion app and that was what it came up with. I agree entirely that Clark could make a comeback and have a long and uninterrupted career once he is over his foot issue; none of us have a clue as to how Roos has chosen to manage his fitness/training program, particularly if there are hamstring issues to deal with on top of the recovering foot (can one impact the other in terms of load?). Of course the major tell-tale factor that everyone will agree is a sign of Mitch resigning himself to the fact that his AFL career is already over? His interest in photography! In fact, I have noticed that a number of our players (including Nathan Jones) now have Instagram accounts, so I think it is safe to say that we can expect to see a severely depleted list by the end of the year.
  4. Oh no! Are you saying that Clark is going to have a troubled post AFL life?
  5. The fact that the name "Fitz" appears between those of Dawes and Riley in the listed players for the rehab group, would tend to indicate he is not OD... I know, I know, it's early in the day And what happens as soon as I make this smartass reply, Lamashtu above posts a rehab group list that does not include Fitzy.
  6. People learnt how to spell his name correctly?
  7. I'm not too concerned... with Dawes and Hogan to take on the oppositions' biggest backs, Clark's physical presence is less of a requirement and his height can be more than compensated for by Howe with his leap and, possibly, JKH to pick up the crumbs.
  8. Is there still an Indigenous team v AFL team game prior to the NAB cup starting?
  9. I find it a little funny that such a fuss was made over his mo, yet here we have posters who are apparently oblivious to the fact that it disappeared a year ago
  10. Why? Even if it was supposed to be in the genes, she is a marathon runner... hardly noted for their flat out speed.
  11. Yeah, reading his meanderings is like being on drugs without the expense or risk of arrest.
  12. All we need to complete this thread is a contribution from ENYAW after which it can be closed.
  13. You were responding to my comment which was this: "Of course more asylum seekers arrive by boat... the majority do not have the luxury of being able to either book, nor afford a flight to safety."... and that comment was my response to Hannibal's claim that more were arriving in Australia by boat than by air. Do you have a link that will direct me to stats re the flying into Indonesia? I have read now that many Iraqis do as they can get a tourist visa, and that they are often funded by their extended families and communities; not sure how that applies to asylum seekers from other countries though. Your closing statement was correct however.
  14. RF, you jump in mid way through a discussion that I was having with Hannibal and claim to know what was being discussing... we were talking about the numbers "illegals" entering this country by plane as compared to the numbers arriving by boat. No twists, no turns, not even a limbo. I admitted to the mistake I made in using the word "majority", but there is nothing else that I need to admit to in this case... and I find it rather funny that you call me out on that, when you are no better yourself when it comes to admitting mistakes... or is it just that you are perfect?
  15. If it's legit, then I'm sure you will have no problem in providing links to the source.
  16. I would love to see an alternative to the leaky boats and I would love to see us still accepting genuine asylum seekers. I do not want to see us turn them back and simply wash our hands of any responsibility. By the way, you can say what you like about me dodging... but at least I am not indulging in less than creative editing: "I am not dodging the point about safe countries... perhaps you can enlighten us as to what those safe countries are and how likely they are o be able to create a good life for themselves in those countries?"
  17. RF, Hannibal said, and that was where that discussion came from: "In 2011/12 more people arrived by boat than air. From 2009-2012 the percentages are approx. 53% air and 47% boat. Thankfully, with the boats now stopping less people will die at sea and your cherished percentage with greatly increase once more." Again, do you know categorically that all of these people fly into Indonesia? Or do they arrive by other means? I certainly do not know the answer to that. And yes, I admit I am probably off the mark with the comment about the majority.
  18. RF, I suggest you read back to earlier posts by Hannibal and myself... the point that was being discussed there and that I was responding to with that sentence, was that Hannibal was saying that the numbers of illegals arriving by air had fallen below the numbers arriving by boat - in Australia.
  19. RF, that particular discussion point was concerning those who fly into Australia.
  20. Maybe the AFL has come to the realisation that the GWS experiment is not working, so they are going to merge them with us, relocate the team to Canberra and call us the Melbourne Avenue Demons.
  21. Of course more asylum seekers arrive by boat... the majority do not have the luxury of being able to either book, nor afford a flight to safety. As I said, and this seems to be a point you keep dodging, the most illegals arriving are flying in... in case you missed the point, asylum seekers are not illegals, overstayers ARE illegals. I am not dodging the point about safe countries... perhaps you can enlighten us as to what those safe countries are and how likely they are o be able to create a good life for themselves in those countries? "Most illegals (love that word) that try to come here throw away their papers and are not fleeing persecution." That to me looks like a statement of fact... perhaps you should have prefaced it with, "In my opinion..."? No one has the solution to the problems these people are facing or fleeing from... but we do have the power to help them. You simply don't seem to care as long as they are not in your back yard... out of sight = out of mind.

  23. 81% had no papers...very different meaning. These people are fleeing and it's very possible many would never have had paperwork In the first place. As for the comment re arriving by air, the majority of known ILLEGALS (overstayers) arrive by air...you are confusing boat people (legal asylum seekers) with illegal immigrants...how many boat people are you aware of that hold tourist or working holiday visas? Funny how you use a labour view as if it is meant to convince us of a point in your argument. You stated your what you now call "view" as a "fact" ... nice back peddling. None of us want to see these people risking their lives at sea and only an idiot would think we do. You claim to be concerned about their lives but that is really typical right wing speak for "we don't want these people here at all". You claim to care about their well being but really don't care at all...the fact that you call them illegals, speaks volumes for your regard for see people and their welfare...as does your belief that these people are not fleeing danger.
  24. Boat arrivals are classified as asylum seekers... Seeking asylum is not illegal and as they are nabbed before landing on our shores, they are not immigrants. They fully expect to be taken into custody so that they can then seek asylum...they are not attempting to land and avoid detection. Your ILLEGAL overstayers however, deliberately try to avoid detection and are in far greater numbers in our society than boat arrivals... The boat arrivals who are free to live in our society are there legally. As for precious percentages, you seem to be the one concerned with citing them...not I. And your last sentence is a cop out. You made an absolute statement that most were not escaping persecution or peril. You made an absolute statement that most were throwing away their papers.
  25. He may not have even read your post as he doesn't appear to have acknowledged it in any way at all.. it was simply a podium on which Hannibal could rest his soap box. Funny that the name Hannibal was associated with one of the greatest known refugee rescues (Operation Hannibal), yet this keyboard warrior would rather send the refugees back to what they are running from based on some misguided belief that the bulk are coming from a safe environment.
