I was thinking the same thing. Additionally, Watts was a highly rated and greatly talked up #1 draft pick, debuting in one of the biggest non finals games of the year. Weideman is coming in pretty much unheralded and so will not have that weight of expectation on his shoulders.

Well, to be honest, everything GNF said in his post had already been made public in a news article a week or two back (including the could take up to 6 months part)... the only thing that differentiated GNFs comments and that article, was that GNF has stated it as a fait accomplis; personally, I very much doubt he knows any more than the rest of us.

Yeah, you're right about that Melbourne sound... in the late 70's there were all of the bands that played the venues like the Station Hotel, Kingston Hotel, Bananas Lounge, Tiger Room etc... bands like The Bleeding Hearts, Sports, Millionaires, Bel Air Bandits, and before them The Pelaco Brothers, Autodrifters, Relaxed Mechanics, etc... so many great bands and venues.

Like my assessment of McLaughlin, he has his moments... I saw him do a superb duet with the amazing ukulele player Jake Shimabukuro. Your mention of Spedding for some reason made me think of Phil Manzanera (weird, I know)... now there was a great and innovative player.

I hate Bartel... I had picked a winning margin of 19 points in my Demonland tipping and he goes and ruins it with that last minute goal!

I have to admit to not listening to much Metheny, but I do like Frisell a lot... the albums he did with Elvis Costello were fantastic. I suppose there are so many great players that it would be impossible to create an ordered list that would be in any way fair. There have been quite a few from Oz who would rate... Ross Hannaford, Andrew Pendlebury, Tommy Emmanuel, Lobby Lloyd, Russell Smith, Angus Young, George Golla, Slava Grigoryan and the list goes on... even a fellow Demon supporter who lurks around these boards (hope he doesn't mind me mentioning him ) Rob MacKenzie.
