  1. I've liked just about everything that Tarantino has been involved in... while The Hateful 8 might not be his best, it's still a very good film. Inglorious Basterds was excellent and Django was very very good... I also absolutely love Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs. However, a couple of my favourite films that he was connected to but that weren't directed by him are, True Romance and Desperado. As far as directors go, I think Tarantino is one of the more consistently good, possibly only surpassed by (in my opinion) the Cohen Brothers (although I also place Jarmusch and Herzog pretty much up there as well).
  2. I thought LS&2SB's was a brilliant piece of circular story telling. It virtually started a whole new genre of British gangland films that were comically violent like its follow up Snatch, Sexy Beast, In Bruges and so on. As for your list of films, most are films I enjoy watching but there are a few I don't get too excited about. I'm a big Wes Anderson fan though... even though they are not of the same ilk, but as you liked Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (I love that film also... sequel not so much), then you might enjoy The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Darjeeling Limited.
  3. Green was the Lions leading goal kicker twice in what was essentially 4 seasons. His last season (in which he kicked 25 goals by the way) and half of this season were cruelled by injury: http://www.lions.com.au/news/2016-01-13/injury-update-green He was delisted because he was asking for too many $'s and an agreement couldn't be reached... this probably reflected more on his injuries and the fact it might take time for him to fully recover from his foot injury than his abilities, so he would have been deemed as not being worth the $500k he was asking: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/pay-dispute-leads-to-josh-greens-departure-from-brisbane-lions-20161025-gs9uw7.html I don't think he would be a waste of a rookie place at all... he really impressed me in a number of games I saw him play early in his career at a time when the Lions weren't at such a low ebb.
  4. Hopefully he does better than Ang Lee did with The Hulk.
  5. RIP Pete Burns, frontman for the 80's 'glam rock/disco' band, Dead or Alive (massive cardiac arrest)...was never a fan, but You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) was interesting if nothing else. 2016 seems to be the year of taking as opposed to giving where pop culture is concerned.
  6. You HAVE to be taking the [censored]! I'd be interested to hear what you consider to be a great film.
  7. Has anyone bothered to check in Arkham Asylum?
  8. I'm a big fan of stop motion/claymation work... have a lot of Aardman Studios early work on DVD as well as Svankmajer's shorts and his takes on Faust and Alice in Wonderland, David Borthwick's extremely disturbing Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb and finally the Quay Brothers animations. I have a number of the German Expressionist cinema works on DVD including Nosferatu, Cabinet of Dr Calligari (including the hand tinted colour version), The Golem, Waxworks etc.
  9. Funnily enough I didn't mind that too much... I think it was slightly redeemed by the new Spiderman character who brought a little humour to the film. The first two Capt America films were far worse. The Independence Day films are a whole other level of bad.
  10. I thought I would never see a film worse than Independence Day...well, on my flight back from the U.K. it finally happened; Independence Day: Resurgence. Absolute garbage.
  11. Maybe it's GNF...didn't he lead a merry chase last year over Dangerfield (I think it was)?
  12. To quote the Joker: "Why so serious?".
  13. Nothing to do with gullibility...it's a bit of harmless fun and exercises for the grey matter.
  14. A 'pat' of butter Mac the knife Anyone care to work out the ocean bound part.
  15. My favourite comment re this trade period (from Facebook): "Richmond lost Vickery. They're the biggest winners so far this trade period."
  16. I would have thought that was Wheatley
  17. Well, typically anglo saxon names were derived from the family occupation (baker, smith, cooper, tailor etc), so you may well be correct.
  18. "ocean bound" would mean "bound for the ocean", in which case leaving Port is the obvious answer. As I said above, I think the closest to the mark so far is gundogmillionaire with their guess of John Butcher. spread butter = But(ch)er - albeit minus one 't' spread wings = Butcher bird ocean bound = leaving Port. At 197cm, Butcher meets the requirement of a tall forward who can back up in the ruck. I'm not saying that he is the player that could do that, in fact I'm positive he is NOT good enough, but as an answer to the riddle, I think it ticks all of the boxes.
  19. Did he sign a contract at the Lions? This article says he was keen to sign on, but there is no indication as to whether it was completed: http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/afl/teams/brisbane/josh-green-commits-to-brisbane-lions-and-wants-new-deal-before-round-1/news-story/78ee2319990ce047d669bd8e36a33a24 The seasons where he played most or all games he was averaging around 27 goals which is not too shabby... he only played 11 games this year because of injury, so that plus the fact that the contract was never signed/withdrawn (if that is the case), would explain his form slump statistically.
  20. I've always liked Green as a player and certainly would not be averse to having him at the club (although not sure how we'd slot him in). He, Rich and Zorko are lions players I've always enjoyed watching go round and wished we'd had on our list.
  21. gundogmillionaire's theory is actually not too bad at al... "spreads butter" could also mean makes the word "butter" longer, so "butcher" (never mind the fact a 't' went awol along the way) spreading wings could also refer to a butcher bird. The leaving port equating to being ocean bound is also very good. Just not sure we would want Butcher at the club :-)
  22. I posted this in the FA & Trade Whispers thread, but it's probably more relevant in here: According to this "commentator", it will most likely be 66 or 84 that gets Lewis across the line. http://www.triplem.com.au/melbourne/sport/afl/news/2016/10/hawthorn-hawks-champion-jordan-lewis-will-be-joining-melbourne-demons-according-to-jay-clark

  24. Hey, we're all entitled to our own opinions... even though you are patently wrong on that one I will never hold a grudge for such trivial matters.
  25. Jaegermeister will give you wings and eventually leave you shitfaced and all at sea Someone who spreads butter is known as a "smearer" Join the dots.
