WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MITCHELL HANNAN
hardtack replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Watching that highlights reel, he seems to have great skills: ability to kick goals from almost any angle, great sense of where to position himself in marking contests, great hands overhead, quick on the lead, and probably the most impressive, his second efforts and forward defensive pressure that are something that we've been a bit lacking in. -
Is this proof that the players read Demonland?
-
Probably the biggest worry Trump will have now is that those who are likely to be disappointed and upset if he moderates his stance on Clinton, the wall etc, are probably the more dangerous/extreme elements of his supporter base.
-
Yes, I thought that re the thick skins after I posted. However, the group think thing is well and truly the domain of both sides... "Lock her up, lock her up!", "Build the wall, build the wall!" ring any bells? ?
-
That's essentially what I was saying NB...the right reference was a counterpoint to the Dante's reference to the left.
-
The issue of inflammatory language exists on both sides of politics... the right commonly use derogatory terms when referencing the left (perhaps the left have thicker skins?).
-
I'm not sure how you come to that conclusion... I stated that he needs to understand what is required to make it at the top level and then I have stated that I hope he will learn from the experience, because if he has he will be all the better for it.
-
You're correct on that point as I cannot constantly watch the speedo, but if I do check and see that I've drifted over the limit I will immediately slow down to the correct speed... however, as drinking involves the making of a conscious decision, if I'm going somewhere that I'm likely to drink any alchohol at all, I leave my car at home; if I take my car and someone offers me a drink I will politely decline...simple really. Anyway, I am far from outraged and I do understand it's all part of the learning process; he will no doubt be the better for it.
-
But that's exactly what I said Saty...that it's NOT a hanging offence and that I hope he will learn from it.
-
Where's the outrage?

Didn't the inventor ride his Segway off a cliff?

Next!!....Vale Mick Fettes of Madder Lake
hardtack replied to hardtack's topic in General Discussion
Can't remember clearly, but I seem to recall Madder Lake opening for Led Zeppelin at Kooyong in 1972. I was studying graphic design at Swinburne that year and it was a breeding ground for musicians...members of Madder Lake, Captain Matchbox and Skyhooks were all studying in the Film & Television faculty, Stephen Cummings was another studying there, and Sports guitarist Andrew Pendlebury's father was head of the Graphic Design faculty. -
The evidence was in the police BAC reading...what other evidence could there possibly be? And I'm hardly suggesting it's a hanging offense... if I recall correctly I believe I said that hopefully he will learn from it.
-
But it is an offense none-the-less. There's a good reason they don't want people drink driving.

When is this all going to end

2016 will go down as the year that just kept on taking... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugh_McDonald_(Australian_musician)

There's only one fact that matters, and that is that he chose to drive with alcohol in his system. If you are suggesting that maybe it was residual from an earlier drinking bout, then he must have been extremely pizzed which if anything makes matters worse. I would disagree that I was making an issue out of it...rather, I was pointing to the fact that now he is playing at the top level, he needs to exercise more self control. You are right about those players, but that doesn't make it any less unacceptable.
-
Regardless of what he blew (even if it was .01), it displays a lack of self discipline, something that I would have thought was a prerequisite to becoming an elite AFL player. Sure it could normally be put down to the exuberance of youth, but in Oliver's case, he should know exactly what is required if he wants to make it at the top level of his chosen sport. We can only hope he has learnt a very important lesson - do not under any circumstances, drink and drive.
-
I think they ended up with an open misère.

There are no angels, but I'm sure we will be hearing a lot of that song in days to come.

Just when you thought 2016 couldn't get any worse...title says it all.
