  1. Lately I've been revisiting a few older films that have now been released on BluRay... The Night of the Hunter and Cape Fear (two of Robert Mitchum's best), Martin Scorcese's King of Comedy and After Hours (both brilliant), Lindsay Anderson's "If" which is one of my favourite films of all time and Wes Anderson's Bottle Rocket. Have also rewatched one of my favourite recent films Hunt for the Wilderpeople which I consider to be one of the films of the year.
  2. As for H, I have good memories of his storming goal in his first game with us (against Gold Coast) that seemed to get the team fired up and kicking on for a win (our first opening round win in how long?). He always wore his heart on his sleeve which I don't mind and he has left the club wishing us no malice and in fact praising our list and wishing us the best of luck. Good luck to him in the future.
  3. I think you might find that playing a game or two in China might help to endear them to the local Chinese Australian population. I would expect that rather than play in Beijing or Shanghai however, they would play in Guangzhou where an AFL academy was established at one of the universities and where there is a competition in existence.

  5. Not surprising, but 2016 seems to have seen an inordinate number of them taken. I honestly can't remember a year in which so many prominent/known people have passed away (and I'm 64).
  6. I managed to fall off the planet a few times in my twenties.
  7. She's so upset she's having an "out-of-body" experience?
  8. For me his high point was the first King Crimson album "In the Court of the Crimson King". It's hard to think of any prog rock song that comes close to "21st Century Schizoid Man"... even to this day that is a standout tune.
  9. I cannot recall a year in which so many talented people have been taken.... now Greg Lake from firstly King Crimson and latterly Emerson Lake & Palmer has passed on after a long battle with cancer, aged 69. I've started so many of these topics now that I'm starting to feel like I'm running an obituary forum.
  10. Gee, funny you should say that WJ (you must be psychic)...
  11. I seem to have sprung a leak from my eyes... lovely stuff and really hope that everything works out for Andrew and his family. Footballers have to be much more than just footballers these days, and I can only see that as being a good thing.
  12. Nothing to do with our training, but it was nice to see that Roughead is back training with the Dorks...hopefully that is an indication that he is winning his health battle.
  13. I didn't know about that one either. It's been an awful year...but at least we still have Keith Richards and Iggy Pop.
  14. Another sad loss to start off December. Wayne Duncan, bass player for Daddy Cool. What a [censored] of a year.
