This is from the Herald Sun. The injury list should be ignored because it looks like last week's injury list. Austin Wonaeamirri for example, was injured at Casey last week and due for scans on his ankle - no mention! MELBOURNE INJURED: Addam Maric (illness) test Michael Newton (foot) test Jack Grimes (foot) season Jordan Gysberts (wrist) season Jake Spencer (knee) season James Strauss (leg) season Michael Evans (back) season SUSPENDED: Colin Sylvia (2 weeks), Aaron Davey (1 week) ON THE BLOCK: It would be a huge statement to drop captain Brad Green, but so was making him substitute last week. Aaron Davey struggled again - but will be out suspended anyway - and Jeremy Howe had his worst game for the year. ON THE CUSP: Matthew Warnock keeps playing well for Casey yet consistently gets overlooked. Tom McNamara has shown a bit. JON ANDERSON’S FORECAST: Coach Todd Viney has shown himself as capable of making the tough calls so don’t be surprised for some more. Neville Jetta is knocking on the senior door and would no doubt enjoy the Gold Coast at the MCG this Sunday.

This comes from the Herald Sun (Footy Barometer - Round 22)but I don't vouch for its reliability:- MELBOURNE INJURED: Rohan Bail (knee) test Michael Newton (foot) 1-2 weeks Michael Evans (back) season Jack Grimes (foot) season Jake Spencer (knee) season James Strauss (leg) season ON THE BLOCK: Aaron Davey, Colin Sylvia. ON THE CUSP: Matthew Bate is another of those players who floats between VFL and AFL. Wonder if Brendan Fevola would get a game if on the senior list given his form for Casey? JON ANDERSON’S FORECAST: Davey gave very little last Sunday. Sylvia has already been dropped once by the new coach Viney. Tom Scully is a player who looks like he’s carrying a lot of weight on his shoulders.

From the Herald Sun MELBOURNE INJURED: Luke Tapscott (concussion) test Rohan Bail (knee) 1 week Michael Newton (foot) 2 weeks James Strauss (broken leg) season Jack Grimes (foot) season Jake Spencer (knee) season ON THE BLOCK: If Brad Green wasn’t captain then surely his recent form would deserve a VFL spell. Maybe it’s time for a different role. Matthew Bate failed to make an impact. ON THE CUSP: Cale Morton, Colin Sylvia, Matthew Warnock, Sam Blease, Neville Jetta, Liam Jurrah JON ANDERSON’S FORECAST: Warnock deserves a chance against the Eagles. Sylvia is clearly in Melbourne’s best 22 so presumably his axing was for other reasons. Don’t think it would do any harm for Jurrah to have an extended spell in the VFL, but he played well for Casey. It’s time to give Blease a continued run in the seniors. What about the Russian?

From the Herald Sun MELBOURNE INJURED: Rohan Bail (knee) 3-4 weeks Aaron Davey (knee) 2-3 weeks Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) 2-3 weeks Jack Grimes (foot) season Neville Jetta (hand) 2 weeks Joel Macdonald (knee) test Michael Newton (foot) 4 weeks Jake Spencer (knee) season ON THE BLOCK: Sam Blease, Jamie Bennell, Liam Jurrah. ON THE CUSP: Luke Tapscott, Matthew Bate. AL PATON’S FORECAST: Tapscott has played two games in the VFL after a long layoff with a hamstring injury and is ready to go. Jurrah is unlikely to lose his spot for the game in his home state.

From Melbournefc.com.au Rohan Bail (knee) - 3-4 weeks Aaron Davey (knee) - 1-2 weeks Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) - 1-2 weeks Jack Grimes (foot) - season Neville Jetta (hand) - 1-2 weeks Joel Macdonald (knee) - test Michael Newton (foot) - 3 weeks Jake Spencer (knee) - season + Austin Wonaeamirri (compassionate leave) - ? Rohan Bail keeps going in reverse while Jack Grimes doesn't discount a return late in the season.
-
Could well be Jaded. They've also forgotten Austin Wonaeamirri out indefinitely on compassionate grounds.

The Herald Sun list: MELBOURNE INJURED: Colin Garland (ankle) test Mark Jamar (knee) test Rohan Bail (knee) 1 week Neville Jetta (hand) 1 week Aaron Davey (knee) 3 weeks Michael Newton (foot) 3 weeks Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) 3-5 weeks Jack Grimes (foot) season Jake Spencer (knee) season Joel Macdonald (sore knee) TBA ON THE BLOCK: Jamie Bennell was only fair against the Tigers. ON THE CUSP: Sam Blease, Matthew Bate. With Casey not playing these two didn’t get their chance to impress but Blease will come in soon. JON ANDERSON'S FORECAST: Suddenly they have genuine depth with Mark Jamar and Jordie McKenzie back from injury. With Jamar back it means they have an exciting ruck duo with he and Stefan Martin. How long since that was the case at Demonland? Twenty years ago with Jim Stynes and Steve O’Dwyer.

You've got to love them at Bigfooty. It's only June but someone's already posted a Phantom Draft based on current ladder positions. One assumes that Jordan Gysberts is over the soreness that kept him out last week?
-
The injury list according to melbournefc.com.au:- Rohan Bail (knee) - 2 weeks Aaron Davey (knee) - 4 weeks Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) - 4-6 weeks Colin Garland (jarred ankle) - test Jack Grimes (foot) - season Mark Jamar (knee) - test Neville Jetta (hand) - 2 weeks Michael Newton (foot) - 4 weeks Jake Spencer (knee) - season Luke Tapscott (hamstring) - 1 week
-
My mistake. Now corrected.

And the opposition ... FREMANTLE INJURED: David Mundy (ankle) 6-8 weeks Hayden Ballantyne (hamstring) 2 weeks Kepler Bradley (concussion) test Roger Hayden (foot) test Casey Sibosado (calf) test Alex Silvagni (groin) test Peter Faulks (calf) test Joel Houghton (arm) 2 weeks Aaron Sandilands (toe) 2 weeks Gavin Roberts (quad) 2-3 weeks Tim Ruffles (knee) 2-3 weeks Adam McPhee (knee) 4 weeks Nick Suban (leg) 4 weeks Viv Michie (foot) season Anthony Morabito (knee) season After last week, does it matter how many players from the opponents are injured?
-
Well, most would know I'm a critic of the way the MFC presents its injury list from week to week but this has me stumped - from the HUN:- MELBOURNE INJURIES: Neville Jetta (hand) TBA Robbie Campbell (knee soreness) test Luke Tapscott (hamstring) test Mark Jamar (knee) 1 week Rohan Bail (knee) 2 weeks Michael Newton (foot) 2-4 weeks Colin Garland (ankle) 3 weeks Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) 4 weeks Aaron Davey (knee) 4-6 weeks Jack Grimes (foot) season Jake Spencer (knee) season ON THE BLOCK: Jamie Bennell, Max Gawn, Jordan Gysberts, Liam Jurrah ON THE CUSP: Lucas Cook, Colin Garland, Ricky Petterd, Matthew Warnock, Lynden Dunn JON ANDERSON'S FORECAST: Garland and Petterd are most likely with Cook an exciting 19-year-old key forward who may need more time. I wonder how Garland who played at Casey on Saturday and is "on the cusp" could be 3 weeks away.
-
Nothing new except that Robbie Campbell has a sore knee following his hit out with the Casey firsts on Sunday. Kelvin Lawrence is apparently back this week. Rohan Bail (knee) - 3 weeks Clint Bartram (hip) - test Robbie Campbell (knee soreness) - test Aaron Davey (knee) - 5-7 weeks Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) - 5 weeks Colin Garland (ankle) - 4 weeks Jack Grimes (foot) - season Mark Jamar (knee) - 2 weeks Michael Newton (foot) - 3-5 weeks Jake Spencer (knee) - season Colin Sylvia (thigh) - test Luke Tapscott (hamstring) - 1 week I'm guessing that there will be few changes this week. If Barty gets up he might have to travel out to Casey.
-
Sorry but I don't think God's up to it ATM. We'll have to rely on Jimmy .
-
The AFL is not concerned with whether it's a perfect tackle or not. If someone's head hits the turf and that person is rendered senseless according to his own club's doctor, then it's illegal. The same tackle is legal if he avoids damage to the head. Simple as that.

Starting off early with Luke Tapscott's Twitter:

The weeks go by slowly for Tom Scully. Every week in which he is injured takes three or four* and I'm wondering whether his season isn't over already. The official injury list from melbournefc.com.au says three weeks. FWIW here it is:- Rohan Bail (knee) - 4-6 weeks Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) - 7-9 weeks Colin Garland (ankle) - 6-8 weeks Jack Grimes (foot) - season Mark Jamar (knee) - 3-5 weeks Jared Rivers (ankle) - test Tom Scully (knee) - 3 weeks Jake Spencer (knee) - season See the Round 4 Injury thread That was after Tom's injury was upgraded from 3 to 6 weeks.

I've taken this from the afl.com.au site and it looks dodgy to me. No mention of Sam Blease, Jack Fitzpatrick or James Strauss while Campbell and McKenzie spent time with the Casey seconds last weekend. My usual gripes apply. By my reckoning, Tom Scully should be no more than three weeks away but I accept that his injury is a bit of a moveable feast. Melbourne Robert Campbell Achilles Test Jack Grimes Foot TBC Jordie McKenzie Groin Test Tom Scully Knee 4 weeks Jake Spencer Knee Season North Melbourne Ryan Bastinac Knee Indefinite Levi Greenwood Ankle Test Lachie Hansen Back Test Ayden Kennedy Knee Season Ed Lower Knee Indefinite Ben Mabon Back Test Hamish McIntosh Achilles Indefinite Marcus White Shoulder Ind

Shortest list that I've seen for years:- Robert Campbell (achilles) - 4 weeks Jordie McKenzie (groin) - 3 weeks Tom Scully (knee) - 6 weeks Not sure what the go is with Cameron Johnston who hasn't played yet at Casey. I thought he was cleared to play.
