  1. Well, most would know I'm a critic of the way the MFC presents its injury list from week to week but this has me stumped - from the HUN:- MELBOURNE INJURIES: Neville Jetta (hand) TBA Robbie Campbell (knee soreness) test Luke Tapscott (hamstring) test Mark Jamar (knee) 1 week Rohan Bail (knee) 2 weeks Michael Newton (foot) 2-4 weeks Colin Garland (ankle) 3 weeks Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) 4 weeks Aaron Davey (knee) 4-6 weeks Jack Grimes (foot) season Jake Spencer (knee) season ON THE BLOCK: Jamie Bennell, Max Gawn, Jordan Gysberts, Liam Jurrah ON THE CUSP: Lucas Cook, Colin Garland, Ricky Petterd, Matthew Warnock, Lynden Dunn JON ANDERSON'S FORECAST: Garland and Petterd are most likely with Cook an exciting 19-year-old key forward who may need more time. I wonder how Garland who played at Casey on Saturday and is "on the cusp" could be 3 weeks away.
  2. Nothing new except that Robbie Campbell has a sore knee following his hit out with the Casey firsts on Sunday. Kelvin Lawrence is apparently back this week. Rohan Bail (knee) - 3 weeks Clint Bartram (hip) - test Robbie Campbell (knee soreness) - test Aaron Davey (knee) - 5-7 weeks Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) - 5 weeks Colin Garland (ankle) - 4 weeks Jack Grimes (foot) - season Mark Jamar (knee) - 2 weeks Michael Newton (foot) - 3-5 weeks Jake Spencer (knee) - season Colin Sylvia (thigh) - test Luke Tapscott (hamstring) - 1 week I'm guessing that there will be few changes this week. If Barty gets up he might have to travel out to Casey.
  3. Sorry but I don't think God's up to it ATM. We'll have to rely on Jimmy .
  4. The AFL is not concerned with whether it's a perfect tackle or not. If someone's head hits the turf and that person is rendered senseless according to his own club's doctor, then it's illegal. The same tackle is legal if he avoids damage to the head. Simple as that.
  5. Starting off early with Luke Tapscott's Twitter:
  6. The weeks go by slowly for Tom Scully. Every week in which he is injured takes three or four* and I'm wondering whether his season isn't over already. The official injury list from melbournefc.com.au says three weeks. FWIW here it is:- Rohan Bail (knee) - 4-6 weeks Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) - 7-9 weeks Colin Garland (ankle) - 6-8 weeks Jack Grimes (foot) - season Mark Jamar (knee) - 3-5 weeks Jared Rivers (ankle) - test Tom Scully (knee) - 3 weeks Jake Spencer (knee) - season See the Round 4 Injury thread That was after Tom's injury was upgraded from 3 to 6 weeks.
  7. I've taken this from the afl.com.au site and it looks dodgy to me. No mention of Sam Blease, Jack Fitzpatrick or James Strauss while Campbell and McKenzie spent time with the Casey seconds last weekend. My usual gripes apply. By my reckoning, Tom Scully should be no more than three weeks away but I accept that his injury is a bit of a moveable feast. Melbourne Robert Campbell Achilles Test Jack Grimes Foot TBC Jordie McKenzie Groin Test Tom Scully Knee 4 weeks Jake Spencer Knee Season North Melbourne Ryan Bastinac Knee Indefinite Levi Greenwood Ankle Test Lachie Hansen Back Test Ayden Kennedy Knee Season Ed Lower Knee Indefinite Ben Mabon Back Test Hamish McIntosh Achilles Indefinite Marcus White Shoulder Ind
  8. METRO SOLAR New sponsor located in the City of Casey.
  9. Shortest list that I've seen for years:- Robert Campbell (achilles) - 4 weeks Jordie McKenzie (groin) - 3 weeks Tom Scully (knee) - 6 weeks Not sure what the go is with Cameron Johnston who hasn't played yet at Casey. I thought he was cleared to play.
  10. Colin Garland (knee) test Cameron Johnston (ankle) test Tom Scully (knee) 3 weeks Jordie McKenzie (groin) 4 weeks Robert Campbell (achilles) 6 weeks
  11. Injury List Melbourne Robert Campbell (Achilles) - 6-8 weeks Troy Davis (thyroid) - ongoing assessment Jack Fitzpatrick (foot) - 3 weeks James Frawley (shoulder) - 3-4 weeks Jordie McKenzie (groin) - 3-4 weeks Tom McNamara (foot) - 3 weeks Cale Morton (finger) - 4 weeks Michael Newton (hand) - 1 week Jack Trengove (ankle) - test Lynden Dunn (hamstring tightness) is this week's phantom injury.
  12. The interestng comparison is the one to be made from the last injury report - Robbie Campbell (achilles) - 2-3 weeks (two weeks ago) should be 1 week but is 4 - 6 weeks (gone backwards) Jack Fitzpartick (foot) - on crutches (but not on injury list two weeks ago) (gone backwards) James Frawley (pectoral) - 10-12 weeks (two weeks ago) should be 8 - 10 weeks but is 6 - 8 weeks (better than expected?) Jordie McKenzie (groin soreness) - (not on injury list two weeks ago) now 1 week (I'm skeptical) Cale Morton (broken finger) - (not on injury list two weeks ago) is 4 - 6 weeks (we'll see) Michael Newton (broken wrist) - 6-8 weeks (two weeks ago) is 4 - 6 weeks (on track) Ricky Petterd (hamstring/back)— 1-2 weeks (two weeks ago) should clear to play but is 1 - 2 weeks (no improvement)
  13. No Scully, Jones or Morton on Friday night. Anyone doubt that the credibilty of the injury list is in tatters?
  14. And so it begins again ... everyone who has followed these pages in the past would know that I have an issue or two with injury lists that aren't ... um ... well ... entirely accurate. According to this, we have 42 players fit and available for Friday night. If that's the case, then Jack Fitzpatrick who was on crutches and had one foot in a moonboot last Friday has recovered from whater he had wrong with him. FWIW, here are the official injury lists of the teams to play this week in Adelaide. Melbourne Robbie Campbell (achilles) - 2-3 weeks James Frawley (pectoral) - 10-12 weeks Michael Newton (broken wrist) - 6-8 weeks Ricky Petterd (hamstring/back)— 1-2 weeks Adelaide James Craig (hamstring) - TBC Chris Knights (corked quad) - available David Mackay (groin) - 3-4 weeks Andy Otten (ankle) - test Sam Shaw (back) - 2 weeks Bernie Vince (knee) - 3 weeks Will Young (shoulder) - 4 weeks Port Adelaide Travis Boak (appendix) - 2-3 weeks Jason Davenport (shoulder) - 2-3 weeks Hamish Hartlett (hamstring) - 1-2 weeks Ben Jacobs (glandular fever) - TBA Matthew Lobbe (dislocated shoulder) - 10 weeks Andrew Moore (groin) - ongoing assessment Ben Newton (ankle) - ongoing assessment Simon Phillips (shoulder) - 2 weeks David Rodan (knee) - indefinite Jay Schulz (hamstring) - 2-3 weeks
  15. Article from the Sunday HUN looks at all of the AFL teams as they go through the pre season - SUMMER SIZZLERS On most of us an extra 6kg's would really fatten us up. On Cale, he might not look very different!
  16. Report in the Sunday HUN says the club is planning an end of season trip to Ireland this year. According to Scotty Palmer's Punchlines there will be an exhibition game (presumably International Rules) between the Demons and Jimmy Stynes' old team Dublin.
  17. Rookie Dan Nicholson was called "Nicho" at training the other day. How's that for inventiveness?
  18. COMEBACK ruckman Robert Campbell has suffered an injury setback with achilles tendinitis restricting his pre-season. Injury hinders Demon Robert Campbell's return
  19. Robert Campbell grabs second chance
  20. The final training session of the year takes place this morning at Casey Fields. It's a busy time the week before Christmas but it would be a great present if we could get some reports from the training track, Thanks in advance to those who live down that way.
  21. During the VFL finals he was thrown forward a couple of times and kicked goals. In fact I think he mightnhave been playing up forward in one of the finals when he injured his ankle.
  22. We certainly can drag it out to 20 pages and don't be surprised if it really starts rocking about round 2 next year when we play the Dorks. While you're at it why not take a squizz at the Dorks training threads and let us know how Cam, Fetta and PJ are traveling? Whether or not he campaigned against the trip, his absence from the team at a time when it was struggling to make up numbers surely would have been noticed around the club. It sounds very much as if he had already made up his mind and was waiting for another club to make him an offer.
  23. Waiting with bated breath on reports from this afternoon's training/Xmas Party at Casey Fields.

  25. There seems to be a lot of posturing going on between clubs in the lead up to the draft. Some of it is there to put others off the scent. Don't think Heppell is going to be available for us at 12.
