  1. Has anyone worked out when picks start to become a lottery.

Pick 4/5 or end of first round?

Anyway as i said above i dont think GWS were serious about dealing with us or they might take the view to get what they want this year they need to have picks 1 to 10 covered and dont care after that. Who knows.

  2. Adel got into bed with GWS on the "super deal".

Having shared their pillow talk not to mention other like nasties, they were ahead in terms of any negotiation.

GWS clearly do not care for us and happy to try and do us over. again we slip behind.

Then there was the very strange comment by the Adel recruiting guy today about it all becoming clear later.

Point is we are still armed with picks to use at some time. If the deal is not right then we can wait. Number 1 pick was the real prize here.

    we move on.

  3. From the Hun: are we in the mix for someone like this?

"11.48am: COLLINGWOOD midfielder John McCarthy is considering offers from a number of rival clubs.

McCarthy, 21, could manage just eight matches this season - for a career total of 18 - as he struggled to break into the strong Magpies' line-up.

His manager Ned Guy says several clubs have asked about McCarthy during trade talks and the Magpie is now weighing up his options."

  4. Hang on ... breaking News.

GWS resorts manager Gubby Allen has filed a complaint with the AFL:

"We had hoped the AFL would grant us appropriate concessions to draft coaches under the age of 50. At a minimum we expected a mini draft in which we could get more younger minds into our panel including youngster Micky M. Our plan was to build a resort at Palm Beach for our coaches so they can really get the vibe of Western Sydney much in the same way as our players are gettting its vibe at our beach resort in Cronulla.

Sadly if we are not granted further coaching funds and concessions we will have to stick with our aged coach policy and our coaching panel will have to continue staying at its Rooty Hill facility."

Gubby also responded to his critics who told him GWS's preferred high performance coach, Cliffy Young, was actually dead:

"Well lets wait and see about that, I have spoken to Andrew who has assured me its within the rules and we can have him. If not, we will look at Tom Hafey."

  5. That's how I read it redleg.

I think GWS would have to engineer a bloody convincing trade for it to appear as if gaining the O'Meara pick wasn't the original intention.

I really hope they try to pull it off, but end up having one of the teams reneg and ruin their plans.

    That would be bliss.

Oh, and the trades they are setting up make it look a lot like a trade for these picks, and less of a blind auction or a tender.

They will try but the message is clear and any club going into a deal with be on notice it will fall over.

Pleased to see the AFL doing the right think in the situation.

  6. Interesting statement, given what has taken place today involving Freo, GWS, Adelaide and the Hawks. Lyon wants to keep J.Griffen, yet want M.Clark.

Not much talk about Crouch in this thread last 12-13 days. Hopefully TH is all over him.

We may fall short as he may get tied up in a 4 way deal to help GWS around the mini draft rules.

  7. 7. Incentive to other clubs trading with GWS Giants in the 2011 and 2012 post-season:

GWS Giants to be given access to four 17-year-olds born in the January to April 1994 window, with all players to be traded to other clubs. Selections will be allocated to GWS Giants so the club can trade for established players, but the club will not have access to these 17-year-olds. If the four trades are not completed in the 2011 post-season, the balance of up to four trades may be used in the 2012 trading period.

Seems like no loophole to me just plain English, they are not to have access. Cant see a Judge thinking this is a loophole.

  8. just wondering if I got that right, is Gunston at Adelaide?

If thats the case our trades look like pick 12 + warnock for Gunston and we can get a 17 yo with the 2 priority picks.

BTW if we get a 17 yo from GWS its a pick next year not the player so how does that affect the father son rule, surely we couldn't be forced to use that pick for Viney.

  9. I'm pleased to read this. It will be very interesting to see if we can beat the likes of the Bulldogs, Crows, etc to the punch. I think it will involve both compo picks. I know GWS have stated they're only interested in picks, but I wonder if they'll look at any established player(s) offered up as part of the bids... .

I wouldn't be surprised if we get pick 2 and then go on to the draft to do something unexpected.

  10. I had dream last night we got Pendlebury, he said he felt like he had come home. Great dream.

Imagine if we got him, that might be the we are going to get yours Garry was referring to .

Its clear pendles will be causing the wobbles the grief we had last year by not signing (in the last year of his contract).

    Ah let me dream on.

  11. work with an x team mate of his...hes staying

Excellent news, he is a quality player .

Last year was an aberration (although better than many others who we have re-signed) and I am not convinced the captaincy was the issue.

He was handed a lot to handle both personally and from a team perspective with the loss of junior and Bruce.

I expect that this year with more structure he will prosper again.
