  1. 6 day turn around, heat. What have we learned from our poor selection table decisions this year?

We need someone truely fresh with endurance. Trenners fits that bill. Whilst VDB wasn't our worst he always looks spent and I wonder if he is the right choice for Darwin. On performance Bugg should be first out. Petracca was down as well but does enough to be a handful.

I understand the anti Dawes sentiment but he does run and try all day and do we have a  replacement for him? He is of no value at the trade table now so should we be trying him down back and move Frosty, who on the stats had a bad day (not to mention his kick out on the full under no pressure) as well, forward and see if he provides a contest down there.

We need to bring in two mids who can run all day and lose some of the lumbering dead weight (we always make the mistake of going too tal up there).

In: Tenners and Oliver (and possibly Grimes)

    Out:  Dawes, VDB, (possibly Bugg)

I spoke to a friend of his last week. He said that he will be fine, recovering really well, Dees being cautious.

I suspect he and the club are learning how to manage the issue and once both parties nail it he will be flying again. I think he will have a long and solid career.

The weather forecast is for 15-40mm of rain on Sunday. With that in mind, I would look at resting Dawes and bringing in another wet tracker like Michie.

A very wet weekend predicted for here in Sydney. I think that means Stretch will be rested. We will need some fresh legs and help for Gawn.

  4. Oh dear just finished pages of the usual craziness.

What is missing in the media stories is the insiders saying "he will go" to the contrary they dont think he will. That suggests to me he is not in the category of those who did go.

We had an 8 day break and let him have a break, sounds like good management to me and doesn't look like a nervous club. More imporatantly unless I have missed something recently we are winning games not solely based on him which is terrific. We have a future which is clear to see and it will be dificult to walk away from that.

In my opinion unless there are strong personal reasons to go he will stay.

On another topic whilst Prestia is on the ground he is someone we would want I am concerned at the number of injuries he gets. However our recruiters are not putting a foot wrong at the moment.

Please take down this thread. It's going to jinx us.

Like the rest of us I am a big fan of any jinx however I suspect that we have a team who just believe they can do it with effort and sticking to the plan. Twice this year we failed at both and lost. However more often we have come back and won (or in the case of North went down trying).

So the idea anything will jinx us is redundant. ( I will still wear my lucky red and blue socks)

The reality is that rather than hope we can cause an upset we are genuinely a real chance to win. Neither team can afford to be off 10% in this game.

With Jack signing it makes me reflect on recent non signings frawley and Howe and wonder how hard we really tried to sign them

We would have wanted to keep frawley. Howe we clearly gave up on as his expectations exceeded reality and at the moment he would not be in our starting 22.

Viney has set the tone, you are on the bandwagon or he will throw you off.

  7. My grand uncle entered the war at Gallipoli (a Scot) and died on the last day of the war outside Mons.

My thoughts to all of those who served and their families we remember them all.

    Lest we forget.
