  1. I've never lost faith in Flash and he remains one of my favourites, but let's not get too carried away (e.g. "He's back!!") over him beating up on a team that clearly wasn't all that fussed about the outcome, and one that also contained 9 debutants. Likewise it would be somewhat expected he would stand out in a young team with 8 debutants. But good news, no doubt.
  2. Agreed. Eery resemblance.
  3. Might be my imagination but there seem to be a few recent training photos of Viney with ball in hand and other players looking on with a huge grin, almost like they're thinking, "this guy plays for our team.."
  4. Stopped reading there. I have absolutely zero interest in her view of anything. On the subject of Vlad, he's done a pretty damn good job regarding equalisation, tv rights, and generally raising the profile of the code. We will await to see the extent of drugs linkages and how particular this is to the AFL, but overall he's done nothing thus far that warrants getting a tap on the shoulder.
  5. Four legs good, two legs bad? Wait, wrong context.
  6. I'm not worried. Not overly worried.
  7. Or Turner and Hooch perhaps. Question is, which one is Hooch?
  8. He'd definitely be one I'd be looking at considering his previous ties to the Weapon. If only AFL 360 was on during the off-season. Robbo questioning Bomber on this = good times.
  9. Can we get back to him on that?
  10. Hird looked shell shocked at the presser, understandably. To me he looked like a man who was just finding out about this. Agree that ignorance is no excuse, but that was my reading of it.
  11. None have come under the same scrutiny other than Scully, but that is largely due to him being the million dollar man. He and Patton are now out of the Melbourne bubble, and Kruezer has coasted along under the assumption he would come good (injuries, big men take longer, blah blah). Watts has been hammered by all n sundry from day dot. Go to an away match and he's the number one target. You can debate how tough he is physically but mentally he has endured a career that few if any others have so early in their career. I think this will be to his ultimate benefit.
  12. The unparalleled hammering that Watts has gotten from all corners since his debut against Collingwood, will, in a strange twist, work to his favour this season and beyond. He says he hasn't paid any attention to what those outside the inner sanctum of the club have said about him, which I don't believe for a moment. I'm sure he would've glanced at the occasional article questioning his worth as a number 1 pick, and I'm sure as an 18/19 year old it would've hurt. The effect this has all had is that it has turned him into an underdog of sorts, and as cliche as it might sound, Australian sport fans love an underdog story. I've heard many a non-Dees fan talk about how they want to see Watts take his game to another level, just to stick up all the naysayers. When/if he does take that step, don't be surprised when it's not just Melbourne fans cheering him on. He's bound to feel that support. Very excited to see what he produces this year.
  13. Nah, Essendon is better/funnier.
  14. racist [censored]...
  15. 2012/13 off-season: Tanking vs Danking Suddenly things don't seem quite as bad.
  16. What will be the implications for the Brownlow? Potential hand over to T Cotchin and S Mitchell?
  17. I do wonder if Caro regrets not taking a few deep breaths before hitting send. Surely even she can see this was well over the top.
  18. With Rebcca Wilson covering sport on Today Tonight. Match made in heaven.
  19. I'm keen. I can't remember my score last year. Have been doing SC for just a couple of years so at a guess I'd say Barassi League?
  20. I'm in. Dom Barrygnon FC 4 life.
  21. Agree with this. I think the correct figure is just about anyone's guess. Why else would there be competitions along the lines of "Dob in a Demon"? There are many who are silently waiting in the wings I suspect. 170,000 seems a very conservative estimate.
  22. I could handle Martin, Rivers, Petterd, Bennell and even Moloney and Morton excelling at their respective clubs. But Gysberts turning into a gun at North would be a hard pill to swallow. It would [censored] me off immensely, actually.
  23. I'm really trying to keep a lid on the amount of faith I have in the kid pictured in the OP, but it's tricky. Big, big player for this club.
  24. Yeah, that was the essence of my post...? I guess I thought he was a bit taller. I realise Watts is no midget but was surprised at the photo of them standing side by side.
