I started watching at half time where the commentators drew attention to the fact that whilst he had 8 clearances, he also turned the ball over continually by just bombing away once he got his hands on it. Same old Beamer. He might rack up the stats and no doubt will be reborn this year now that he can play on his own terms, but his lack of effectiveness will still be an issue. In answer to whether I'm still rapt he's gone..absolutely I am.

Hehe...a thing of beauty.

I found his comments about Sylvia to be most interesting. I've often wondered how a guy like Col kept his spot in Neeld's side, as he possesses traits both on and off the field that seem at odds with Neeld's philosphy and hard line approach. Either Col has done a real sell job on Neeld, or the lightbulb may finally switch on this year.

The forward duo is Clark and Dawes. It can't fail.

'Raising The Bar' ... 9 MFC players who must lift in 2013.

Dangerfield is 22, Stu. Just saying. -
The more I think about it, the more I realise that we need Trenners to start playing like a true number 2 draft pick this year. He needs to take some games by the scruff of the neck and lead this club out of the mire it finds itself in. He is vital to the success of the midfield group this year and he knows it.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

Nah, Robbo's great. Mind you, we don't need another Robbo. One is enough. -
The more we Jazz up our list, the greater the Shockwave we will send through the competition. This ain't no Mirage. We're about to go on the Prowl to begin the Red and Bluestreak.

As long as he hands it in. -
Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

Bomber Thompson's meltdown on 360 last night was pretty special. It was put to him that if circumstances at the Sharks replicate themselves at the Bombers, he'd lose his job. In the meantime he lost his [censored] I don't mind Bomber, but If they are guilty then heads should definitely roll, Cronulla style. -

So seriously not one of them managed to hit him from 30 metres? That's almost sad. He'd be well within his rights to use that as material. Maybe it can take the place of his bit about "Snakes Alive". -
Good post RR. Personally I don't give us any chance against the Cats at Skilled, in fact I think they could give it another tilt this year at going all the way. Anyone who thinks Geelong are going to meekly fade away might end up disappointed. The youth they have coming through is seriously impressive. To be honest I'm only looking at Rounds 1 & 2 right now, as both are very winnable matches and extremely important in setting the tone for the remainder of the season.

Loving the positivity in this thread. A solid win over the Suns is paramount. -
Hm, I have a feeling I'm on the Ben-Hur ignore list so many aspire towards. Long live the unwashed masses of the footy stupid.

I would be all over this like a fat kid on a hot dog but I'm a Supercoach man.

lol If only it didn't all ring so horribly true. I'll say one thing, if we can't develop a player of Jimmy Toumpas' calibre, we should just chuck it in.

A news article posted 11 hours ago lists him as being OOC.

Have to disagree strongly with this. Lewis is exactly the type of player we need. Premiership player, vice captain at the best side in the league, with seniority and experience to mentor the younger leaders at the club. From a strategic perspective, he's a goal kicking midfielder..pretty much what we're crying out for. Differs from Byrnes and Rodan in that he's not viewed by the footballing fraternity as "washed up". At 26, he's far from it. On top of all that, he's tough as nails. Honestly I can't see a downside. He's a big fish and if we landed him, as unlikely as it would be, we should thank our lucky stars.
-
Okay so he's not a free agent, restricted or otherwise. Jordan Lewis on the other hand, now he would be a good pick up. Only 26.

First Clark, now Rioli. I see where your head's at RR. Recruit players who have their names tattooed on their backs so we can remember who they are. Cunning, very cunning.

That story makes me want to cry.

Wow, now there's some optimism. Missing some reality. Viney will be considered a top 50 player after his first year? Garland and Byrnes? lol..c'mon now. Jamar is not a Top 50 player. He's not even close. He might win a truckload of taps but he skips the part of putting them to the advantage of his teammates, and he doesn't/can't do anything else. Jones, Clark and Frawley are possibilities for this time next year. Somewhat remote ones. The following year could look different, but who can look that far ahead in terms of development, especially when it comes to our club?
-
I take your point in terms of current need, but I wouldn't trade Hulk for all the tea in China. We have a potential great on our hands. Clark and Dawes were never going to be enough to compete with the big boys a few years down the track and Hogan was the missing ingredient. Wines is a hard nosed ball winner who would be invaluable to us right now, but there'll be other mids of his ilk that come through the draft next year. When you have an opportunity to grab a forward like Hogan, you take it.
-
Wines is gonna be a star though. We need to pinch him in a couple of years to complete the Viney & Wines fairytale..
