My faith in Trengove continues to diminish. I fear that we're not gong to get anything close to value for a #2 pick.

6. Frawley 5. N Jones 4. Garland 3. Dawes 2. Howe 1. Kent Conveniently, all of these guys are a big part of the future.

Magner would've helped us alot today. Such a frustrating omission. The stats make for strange reading for a game we lost by 95 points. Won the tackle count pretty comfortably, won the hitouts, 329 possessions which isn't bad by 2012-13 standards at 73% DE, same as Hawthorn, and only minus 6 in clearances. Won enough of the ball, just succumbed to their defensive pressure too often. Too much hesitation to play on quickly, too many wrong decisions or simply lack of options, and the top teams will just squeeze until you cough it back up, which we did. Clearly it's still nowhere near good enough at this level, but I saw a bit of the "combative" style Neeld has kept talking about today. If it's his last game, as it should be, it's not the worst one to sign out on. For decent periods, they were able to contain the best side in the competition.

Are you serious? Why are you commenting every week if you're not even watching?
-
I shudder to think where we'd be without Garland and Frawley. They alone stop beltings becoming absolute annihilations.
-
lol My god.
-
Yeah, this is gonna be ugly. Just can't handle their pressure.
-
Massive contrast between how both teams move the ball out of their defensive 50. They do it in a canter, we make it look difficult.
-
Leak or not, I'd be wrapped with Choco and Junior. Junior returning would be huge.

If we are a better off skills wise, I must be watching the wrong team. Fitness wise, to what extent Neeld deserves credit for Misson's work I can't say, but on the face of it, match day fitness has not improved. Sure, we may be better off in these areas after another year, but with another years' experience under the belt, you'd damn well hope to see improvement. I'd be more willing to place a club in our position in the hands of Neeld, for another 18 months, if I could see some improvement on match day when it counts. Words are fine. Actions matter, and I'm not seeing it. I'm seeing steep decline with little sign of it turning around. The pass mark of keeping margins under 10 goals are nothing short of humiliating for everyone associated. Some of the moves Neeld has made deserve acknowledgement. Matt Jones and Dean Terlich are success stories, and the majority of the names he has culled from the list, I agreed with. But his take no prisoners approach has taken us so much further backwards than was necessary and it has to be stopped. He, seemingly, is unable to stop it. I'll feel alot more confident and hopeful having an accomplished senior coach guiding this group from here.

The new tv rights deal isn't exactly far away.. My confidence in the Board isn't exactly sky high either, but I will accept PJ's judgement and decision, whatever that may be. I can somewhat accept the argument that we don't know whether Neeld is a good coach yet, even if I may not agree with it. PJ himself said the Neeld needs a bit more fresh air, and he's certainly had no fairytale beginning as far as external pressures. Neeld stated after the Richmond match, "I can coach now". It was then followed up by the performance against Fremantle. But still, I can accept that argument. But how you can actually say, " I think he is a good coach and I like his strategy", is beyond me. On what possible basis? A statement like that to me screams blind faith, which is a dangerous position.
-
I'd also add that the idea of Jim's Debt Demolition work being completely undone makes me sick to my stomach.
-
Fair enough, but this is where the two sides of the debate (if we can group them as simply as that for argument's sake) seem to differ. I absolutely reject the idea that what we're currently seeing is the best we can expect this season. I'm not expecting a new coach to perform miracles but the list, whilst underwhelming, is not nearly as bad as this. I've never seen a team this easy to play against, which makes a mockery of Neeld's mantra of being the hardest to play against. In 18 months he has converted us into the polar opposite. It's not just a disgrace to this club, it's become a disgrace to the game itself. It's not about grabbing pitchforks, it's assessing a situation as being unsustainable and moving on it now before the damage becomes almost irreversible. I think you'll find that there is indeed something to do rather than just "let it play out", and hopefully the Board feels the same way.

On here. On radio. On other forums. It's a very constant theme. Not being a parent myself, I have no such story, but it's not something I take any pleasure in hearing about as regularly as i do. Sounds like you have a tough little nugget there, but not everyone is so fortunate with stories of bullying, not wanting to attend the footy, or simply jumping off altogether. This is really news to you? I don't think so.

Right now, with the debt figures both current and forecast, I would say short-term success. Look at the crowds. Listen to the flood of stories from parents whose kids no longer want to support the Dees. Every week this goes on we lose more of a generation of fans so crucial to the livelihood of the club. This has simply gone on too long and the situation is only worsening. Those who dismiss the notion of there no longer being a Melbourne Demons because "we have to have a team called Melbourne" better take a reality check. If we become a serious enough drain on the AFL, the cord will be cut.
-
Which is a fair enough view to take, but it would seem, judging by this and other forums, many supporters have passed a breaking point. I fully admit, I'm one of them. By all means, attempt to reason with those who are at this stage if you feel that Neeld's staying on will better serve the club. But just flat out talking down to them achieves precisely nothing other than adding to what is an already tempestuous vibe around the place. /I've seen enough of this team going backwards under the present regime to make a judgement that it isn't' working and needs to be changed. I'm fully entitled to that opinion and expressing it freely without copping crap from some uppity nuff nuff who thinks he knows better than everyone else cause he attends the odd training session.

I have, his "contributions" still appear when quoted by others.

Yet another thread derailed by Satyr's self-serving bullsh!t. Hoo [censored] ray.. Be aware that if Satyr does not agree with you, or if you post anything negative, he WILL respond to you in a belittling and demeaning manner. The idea that people use Demonland to vent their frustrations about the club's current plight, clearly does not compute. I'd request that posters stop reacting to his obviously inflammatory retorts, but clearly that's never going to happen. He will always get bites, and Mods appear unwilling to put a stop to it. I will however ask, AGAIN, that if you're going to turn a thread into a highschool playground, take it private. I come here to talk football, not observe every second thread become an exercise in assisting a narcissist feed his needs online. .

A long way ahead? I see a hell of alot more potential in Jetta than I do in Nicholson. Nicholson has a greater nous for finding It, but Jetta is a FAR better user of the ball (not saying much admittedly). In terms of competing, using a simple measure, Nicho is averaging 2.3 tackles a game. Jetta averages 4. I still see Jetta being in long term plans. I can't say the same about Nicholson. I'll admit it comes as a surprise that Jetta has been in the system for 5 years. I doesn't feel that long. He needs to be demanding his spot.
-
"This week they remembered to pack their deodorant and tube of deep heat. We thought that was a pretty good effort."
-
At the very least, I'd take him over Nicholson every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
-
lol..if you do say so yourself?
-
Wasn't he plonked in the forward line last week? It's little wonder he couldn't get his hands on it. When he's been played behind the ball, he's been good, sometimes very good. This approach of throwing magnets on a whiteboard in the name of player development is just confusing. Jetta is debatable maybe, but Magner?
-
Let's hope we don't allow them to take 167 marks as we did against Freo (7th worst in history), including 24 inside 50, as opposed to our 3. Bring on the Bye.
-
lol..Jetta and Magner out. Beyond ridiculous.
