  1. Sorry, but that is hogwash. Satyr deserves no respect for the way he acts towards fellow supporters. All he does is lurk on here waiting to take his potshots at other posters, or Demonland as a whole, or draw attention to "conversations" he's had with anyone from Jesse Hogan to Doris the lunch lady. It seems he also likes to pass on what he's read here, maybe conveying it as a majority view when it is anything but. Posters who consistently go out of their way to create friction should be given the boot. The site would be infinitely better off as a result.
  2. I'm with you Rog. I'm excited about Michie's potential and will be until I see a reason not to be. There is a decent chance he can make an immediate contribution towards alleviating our midfield woes. He and Thomas will be the first two inclusions in my fantasy side, which I suspect will be the case for many others.
  3. I actually laughed out loud at this forward line. Are we ever going to see Clark and Dawes? Ever? Ah, what fun it is supporting this club.
  4. Sewell debateable, but Selwood and Hayes definitely are. I'd back all three against him for acceleration and lateral movement. He is slow. Painfully so. Fingers crossed there is improvement.
  5. Scully wasn't "stolen", he walked just like the others. It's difficult to say exactly what this game means anymore. I think many of us got sucked in, including Bruce with those infamous words: "the Dees are gonna be something!" We all remember this game for the sheer attacking dominance on display, so in that sense it remains significant. As false dawns go, it wasn't a bad one. It also stayed with Roos, by his own admission. In its own vey small way, it played a part in him signing on. He saw first hand that the DNA of the club isn't as corrupted as some might believe, and there is some residual talent with which to work.
  6. Those training tops are awesome. I want one.

    Tennis Anyone?

Kyrgios looks an absolute ripper at the ripe old age of 18. Star in the making.
  8. SCHOOL REPORT CARD: Satyriconhome Dear Parent, This year Saty has shown little progress. He is still struggling with social interaction and tends to mindlessly follow some of the other staff around the school grounds. It is suggested that you buy him a dog. Career suggestions: Failed comedian / Perez Hilton understudy
  9. Party at Robbie's.
  10. Left, right, left, right...yo left, yo left, yo left, right, left.. I think anyone who is deemed "left" should be ordered to wear an "L" around their neck, preferably one made out of a heavy metal. They can be pelted with tomatoes in the street for basically being the root cause of all that is wrong with society, including corrupting our children and producing a generation of lefty, brainless scum.
  11. I don't disagree. I've already stated twice, this will make it three times, that I am in favour of his signing. I see him as depth, perhaps not immediately, although out of interest I had a look at the "Round 1 vs St Kilda" thread, and 47 of 127 teams posted had him as best 22. So a bit over a third. Not an exact science, but I don't think what I'm saying is really that controversial based on those numbers. Given where he sat in the pecking order last year, it's hard not to see him making the field in the short term, I will agree with that.
  12. I think it's great that you're in his corner, but it's almost like you have a vested interest in him. Do you? Scandal on Demonland: Webber's lovechild. It's great that he was able to come in and have an impact. It doesn't change the fact that he's an ordinary kick and a poor decision maker. Anyone who watched the games this year can tell you that. At 26, how much better is he going to get? Maybe he can work on aspects of his game and I hope he can, but let's not lose sight of him sticking out in a DEPLORABLE midfield. One of the worst ever assembled. Nothing at all to do with Neeld selecting him, or associating him with failure, or any other theory that doesn't come back to him being just okay. He does have pace and he can find the footy, so here's hoping you're right and he can take his game to another level. But as it stands, a midfield that can challenge the best sides has better players than Matt Jones in it.
  13. There's no doubting it has been a lacklustre start, but it remains a long term project. The AFL seem determined to help themselves to a portion of what is a sizeable market and I doubt any panic buttons are being pushed just yet. It is however going to be a long haul to win people over as it would seem they've barely made a ripple yet. The Wanderers were always going to hit the ground running with the history of the region in the NSL etc, so it's not the fairest of comparisons. They have certainly breathed new life into the A League and good luck to them. Their fans are amazIng and the Giants would be well fortunate to attract fans with half of their passion and enthusiasm.
  14. To be fair, you're comparing a 26 year old with a 19 year old. As I said I'm pleased with the signing and it makes sense to keep him on, but if the best is ahead of Matt Jones as many are claiming/hoping, it wouldn't want to be very far ahead.
  15. Genuinely chuffed about Kent. Pretty underwhelmed with Matt Jones but granted at the moment we're not exactly spoiled for choice. At the end of the day he was top 5 BnF and regardless of the quality around him it strengthens his case. Well done to him and hopefully he can repay the faith.
  16. Don't we all.
  17. When you consider they just weren't in the contest at all, and that Cook himself said that if it were a boxing match it would have been stopped well before Day 3 in Sydney, it's hard to disagree. That is Melbourne all over. Agreed with RR, perhaps better to compare with Australia. A remarkable turn around within 12 months. It can happen.
  18. Further to the above, I can appreciate this isn't a great Australian side like that of the dominant Waugh/Ponting era, but these players deserve recognition as announcing themselves on the biggest stage, and on paper or otherwise have shown that they are the better side out of these two.
  19. Haha..have a listen to Boycott in that podcast. I like Geoffrey but it is staggering that when questioned about Australia's bowling performance he still downplayed the ability of the Australian players and attributed it to England playing poorly. Apparently Mitch is the only ace, and "they might have Clarke but we have Pietersen and Bell". What exactly is it going to take for him to accept that England are simply not as good as they thought, playing on soggy England wickets and arsing out wins, and the likes of Harris, Rogers, Haddin, Siddle and Smith are a lot better than they gave them credit for. For gods sake Geoffrey, if you still think England are the better side after THAT, I have no words.
  20. Not sure why we're even having this discussion. For us interstaters, Fox Footy is pretty much a necessity.
  21. A shocking revelation! The off season is bringing out your grumpy side McQueen.
  22. And now it falls upon a Kiwi and a Zimbabwean to salvage some English pride.
  23. I'm developing some man love for this fella without him having played yet. He just looks so clean and quick, and has confidence to boot. Clearly off season is getting to me already.
  24. Catching a bit of these other tests, I can't get past the "crowds". Test cricket might be faring okay here but it is very disconcerting having all these international fixtures being played in near empty stadiums. It's sad as much as it is worrying. I hope the Saffies show up in numbers. A bit of atmosphere would be nice.
  25. Wrong crowd mate. You'll find many in here would agree with him, and see no issue with someone in his position holding such views. Nothing surprises me anymore. The circus is definitely in town.
