  1. You r missing the point Chook. You have to have one tall on the forward line. Today there were many moment when we had none and Trengove was FF for God's sake,
  2. Pre season we gave away a high first round pick for Cam Pederson. Two weeks ago he played in a forward line where Clark was playing. So also in the team were Jamar and Watts. Pederson kicked 2. Last week Clark was out but Watts played half a game forward. Pederson played, poorly I thought. But this week injuries took out all of Clark, jamar and Watts. Yet Pederson was dropped meaning we had no forward talls except the resting rucks, and half the time one was on the bench. Surely Pederson Had to play this week, or if he was considered TOO bad last game, Sellar. Or Fitzpatrick. SOMEONE!. It was plain that our mids would be under pressure. They were. When under pressure it's a reasonable option to kick long towards the square. Time and again today this option was not available. Pathetic coaching blunder--not just Neeld of course, the whole mob.
  3. I'm surprised there is no reference to our selected side. We did not need to be too short on the forward line. Either Pederson or Sellar should have played. Any time our mids looked forward there was no tall target whenever either Spencer or Gawne was on the bench, what is the point of a whole forward line with no-one of 6ft or more? The game was lost before we went out onto the field. Neither Pederson or Sellar would have taken many marks but they would have created chances. Awful errors in selection.
  4. That is exactly the point! Why were there no tall forwards? Because someone forgot to pick one! I accept Pedersen was poor last week but either he or Sellar was needed today so a player under pressure in midfield could kick it long. A tall probably would not have marked it, but there would have been.a contest. Much of the mucking around in midfield was due to players looking up and realizing there were no tall targets. When Gawne or Spencer was there it was better but much of the time there was no-one of 190cm on the forward line. Trengove at FF! For heavens sake. The game was lost before it started. We would not have won but there would have been a structure to play to
  5. There might be something in your suggestion. As it is this is the worst bunch of ins and outs I can imagine. Have any of you commenting on these given one minute of consideration to the Blues team. Please tell me who plays on Warnock when he goes forward. Who plays CHF? I think Dunn will have to, there is no one else. We are 2 talks short unless it drizzles rain all day. I think this is absolute surrender. I see some dill thinks we wil win. My suggested losing margin is 134 points (approx)

  7. With the exception of Howe I agree. And Evans has improved I think. What's frustrating is that other club supporters are looking at MFC in sorrow, and with pity, and commenting that "it's not a bad list" Come on, do it now- the club won't stand another 16 weeks of this
  8. It wasn't a huge margin but it was terrible. this Brisbane side was the weakest I've seen.Bugger it! Let the Neeld apologists answer the following; How did Pedersen go? how did Rodan go? Byrnes.? And how was Moloney today? How was this inadequate dill entitled to butcher this list?
  9. Well I agree. His kicking from the backline was exciting 2 years ago. To me he is the perfect Matty Whelan type. And I actually think we have more options forward than back. Blease would normaly fit into our best 22. A great kick out of the backline pinpointing a player 60m away is a terrific springboard into attack. I'd love to see him doing that again. I think he won votes for his first match R1 of 2011?
  10. Watched the game closely on tv. Didn't think Watts was too bad. Neither was Frawley, in fact he was damned good in nullifying Cameron, a v dangerous forward. Some liked Jetta-I thought he was poor and the report incident disgusted me and commentators. Some have called for Jamar to be sacked--ridiculous. It was the combination of Gawne and Jamar which produced results. Viney was obviously buggered. Still big problems around the packs though. We need to introduce more on ballers, not rely on too few. When fit I would like to see Joel Mac given a run on ball, because we need someone to play on the tall on ballers. He has faults down back but is quick, willing, and can get the ball. Nothing to be lost
  11. I agree with you but isn't he being played in the wrong position.? I remember his first 6 outstanding games deep on the back line. He was terrific at kicking in. I think we can use his driving drop punts better if he is coming straight ahead. With Jetta to miss these 2 weeks lets put Tappy back where he belongs
  12. It's just not right! Huge win v Swans at G in 2010, the same year we drew with Pies (premiers) and lost to them by a point. You don't play 15 matches v Interstate clubs at the G. And anyway a 96 point win against Adelaide and Freo--both finalists the next year while we went backwards--wasn't too bad. Amazing how people ignore the facts to bag DB
  13. This is sheer rubbish. At the end of 2010 we had won 8.5 games and the pundits were full of praise for our young list .Don't tell me that at the end of 2010 anyone thought Trengove was no good--or Watts, Petterd,Moloney, Garland,Jamar,Rivers etc.THERE WAS NO CRISIS AT MFC AT THE END OF 2010. Four years after we last made the finals---2006 (13th time in 20 years incidentally) the club was on track. A number of promising talented players have now become hacks under MN. and it's his disgraceful habit of blaming DB for his plight which disgusts me. I quite like the bloke, and wanted to hug him after the Ess disaster, but my God, he's flawed.
  14. Well then did Sheedy lose the players at Essendon when he lost a game by 160 plus in his second or third season. Did they panick and sack him? I think they finished bottom 4 that year.OP is dead right. there were failings in DB gameplan but nothing comparable with the utter disaster now. I promise you, no-one at the club can tell you what the bloody gameplan is!
  15. No. He is not an experienced coach. His relationship with his son wil be difficult. This needs an"old hand". Someone who,s been there before and worked a team out of a crisis, that's why I greatly prefer Craig
  16. . II absolutely agree. And 2 more disasters as bad as R1 have proven your point. A couple of other points.I have had the opportunity to speak informally with several players. The suggestion that they are not trying is absurd. They are perplexed, confused, surprised how far off the pace they are but they are trying as hard as they can. Incidentally in our discussions there was no hint of disloyalty to Neeld. Secondly there is an increasing realization that the team is much worse than under Bailey. Why have the attacking aspects of the Bailey gameplan been lost? The distinctive feature--and perhaps the only positive-- is that within the ranks there is an experienced, successful coach in Neil Craig. Until his last year at Adelaide he was extremely successful. I believe he has said he won't coach. I would move heaven and earth to get him to--personally I would offer him until the end of 2014. The decision to appoint Neeld was not bad or stupid. Recriminations are of no use. But occasionally an appointment doesn't work. Look at TIm Watson at St K. But I now believe that with our list we need someone who doesn't need to prove himself, who doesn't need to suggest that the list he inherited was bad (although I like Neeld personally I'm disgusted at his insinuation that the previous admin was/is responsible for the club's plight--it isn't) and who can exert a mature influence over a list which can play. When much less experienced it won significant games. We have 18 rounds to go after this week. Make the move now. It's sad but must happen
  17. Sorrry but I think the basic premise is flawed. It is simply dumb and poor coaching to introduce a gameplan totally unsuited to our playing stocks. I'm stunned at the latitude given to Neeld against the bile which continues to be directed at DB. Face the facts. With a much younger list DB won 8.5 in 2010 and 7.5 up to his sacking in 2011.Neeld has been given all he's wanted--the power to appoint fitness staff, other coaches and even to get rid of players in favor of duds from other clubs. And he's achieved sweet f all. We have had a constant stream from Neeld of comment suggesting the fault all lies with DB and his admin. it's rubbish We have an experienced, proven coach at MFC. Encourage MN to resign, appoint Craig until the end of 2012. If it happens next week there are 18 games remaining, the season may be in part saved. Otherwise the misery of it al and the financial disaster which follows, are inevitable.
  18. and McDonal will kick long and accurately to the forwards?
  19. Sorry, the last line above was transposed! It's Tapscott [not Joel Mac] who I think would not average a goal per game on the forward line and who I want to see in the back pocket
  20. I find the posts on this subject bloody frustrating! First, has no-one on this site ever watched Collingwood--or ever spoken to a magpies fan? If yes to either, you would know that Dawes CANNOT play CHF.That's why I opposed his recruitment. As the Pies discovered last year he's a FF or nothing. And I wonder how he fits in if Clark is available. Next issue--everyone is picking Frawley at FB. Why--because they like young Tom at CHB. False reasoning! Remember that Frawley was all-Australian at CHB. He offers speed down the spine, and his raking low kicks give forwards a real chance. Of course Mc Donald must play though he's a poor kick, but not at CHB. Try Gillies or Sellar at FB, but please don't deny us a real attacking option. Next, can't anyone remember Tapscott's first 6 games? At back pocket, or HBF, but either way he was excellent. Running straight ahead and kicking it a mile. He's a great kicker-in after behinds are scored. And now, a suggestion. I wonder if we've got the best out of Joel MacDonald? I despair of him on the backline--too many errors. But he does get the ball! That's never been his problem. He's strong, willing, quick. Others have commented how ordinary our midfield options are--why not give him a run there<? Apart from anything else he'd be a better match for the tall mids--Goddard, Embley etc On the forward line he offers little. I doubt he's going to average a goal per game
  21. Some room for optimism is that we have very few in rehab compared with the numbers in Bailey's years. On the other hand we do have Mark Neeld. I predict 16th. Just look at the stats last year compared with the previous 2 and tell me why I'm wrong
  22. The point is that this Achilles injury has existed for the last 2 seasons. I'm sure many will have tried to perform physical activity with a sore Achilles. You can't! And obviously his confidence became shot. I don't think we were too critical of him at the end of 2010. By that time, over perhaps 35 matches he'd played many good ones in my view. Great mark for his size, and at times a hoofing kick.kicked some excellent goals including a few at Docklands one awful day for the club, which also culminated in Petterd doing his shoulder--can't recall who we were playing.
  23. We learned of the Achilles injury in the Club assessment of Petterd. No-one can play with such an injury and I suspect he has not done justice to his situation by trying to return when not fit. If the Achilles is fully recovered (and it's a big "if") why shouldn't MFC re-list him as a rookie? If fit, who would you prefer,Byrnes or Petterd?
  24. Well I appreciate this response as opposed to the insulting rant by Jose! I also saw the 1964 premiership. So I withdraw from this topic, I want nothing more than a club going somewhere with capable management, and I sincerely hope I'm quite wrong. I find it a little hard to agree that Rodan is a product from a successful club--a castoff from a club worse than ours is my impression--but again I wish him well and if he can lift us, then terrific!
  25. But you guys both miss the point! If it was a case of senior players getting sulks as the season progressed I would agree with you. The coach deliberately insulted them before the start of the season. Is Brad Green the sulking type? Rivers, who incidentally did NOT want to leave MFC last month, had finished 3rd in the Bluey from memory--no place in leadership for him. Or Moloney who played a hell of a year in 2011 after initially letting himself down. He'd displayed leadership in 2011 had he not? And won the best and fairest. No leadership group for him. How well did the appointment of Trengove and Grimes work out? Did Trengove prosper or go backwards? It was a committeeman who first alerted me to what the new coach was doing. He feared for a bad season, I listened to him and tipped MFC to finish 16th amongst our large mob of supporters/tipsters. The rest ridiculed me, then paid up half way through the season. The preseason antics by the coach were simply incompetent examples of man management
