We knew this situation was unique when we drafted him. Obviously our support is not unconditional - but no concerns from me if we support him through the occasional period where he needs to head back.

Jeez hes still young. Im more concerned about the progress of Blease, Strauss, Gysberts and Tapscott at this point. Watts should start being judged as a 23-25 year old imo.

Another 'black cloud' - no doubt about it.

I hope so..

Not to mention you can get to centrelink within 3 minutes every second Wednesday plus your dealer lives next door!

I've never been a fan of the preseason 'competition' when we can't have each team play each other twice in the real thing. A joke really.

Harsh on Beamer. Just putting positive pressure on junior players imo. Moloney is the first to go in to bat for his team mates in the real deal. True team man imo.

1 x compo pick plus say Bennell would be pretty hard for other teams to top - especially if Gaff has a preference for Melbourne FC. I dont think many sides will want to part with their first round picks in the 2012 draft.

Think of it like dancing with your sister - you want to look good, but don't get too physical.

Josh Caddy is another rumoured to be keen on a move home. I hope we have a good crack at both of them.

There would not be a player or rookie in the AFL that doesn't have a 3km time trial under their belt before they enter the comp. -
I'm expecting a lot of stoppages and short passing on the wings.

He got beaten - no doubt, but I thought he put in a pretty good game that day. -

They ran 3km. Most clubs use 3km as one of their running benchmarks - I'm not sure why. 3.2km is the length of the tan at the botanical gardens - where many people (and footballers) run and is therefore often talked about when comparing middle distance running abilities. -
Stay at home forward Mitch Clarke.

I dont think anyone is suggesting supercoach scoring is an accurate reflection of a players worth in the real thing. -

I think this article is specifically referring to the fact that power forwards dont score that well in Supercoach these days - not that they are decreasing in value in the real thing. Clark will be worth so much for us even if he doesnt kick alot of goals or take alot of marks.. -
MFC players you're most looking forward to watch in 2012

The perception of a lowering in intensity over the xmas & early Jan period could well be planned. You wouldn't want to drill them for a full 6 months. I presume it will pick up again. Another thing is that clubs will put more intensity into fitness work early in a preseason, and then move the intensity to skill and tactical sessions later in the preseason. These guys will get a lot of their fitness work done in skill sessions anyway. -
I agree actually - great if you have someone good enough, but the running, ball carrier types are fading. The current game is heading towards creating advantageous stoppages. There wont be much space to run with the ball against good sides for the next few years at least. Fast players will make good small forwards though..
