  1. Ok so im going who else is going and how will we all know who each other is so we can catch up for a beer or three and high five all night!!
  2. Different to Tatts in that of course the higher the pick the better the player. This analysis shows that....of course thats obvious but I'm one of those who likes to verify in black and white.... However of interest most the ruckman or KPP picked 18 up with the picks we hold havent been world beaters.... Thats a concern when so many are calling for KPP at 11 and 18.... Having said that pick 18 has contained one red hot mid in Daniel Kerr.... So do we go Ball or not based on the data?
  3. As stars collide and Thursday night comes towards us I'm kinda of sick of listening to all the Luke Ball debate without the data to give us something factual to make judgement. So here is precedent....yes I have too much time on my hands...I posed this question on Barry Dawsons Poll but figured this could change the course of the thread so here it is as a separate thread. Pick 11 last 10 years: Lenny Hayes Darren Glass Trent Spron Carl Richard Cole Jason Winderlich Beau Waters Adam Thomson PA Shaun Higgins Andrejs Everitt Patrick Veszpremi Steele Sidebottom Pick 16 - I have included for the sake of assuming if GC have taken some of the talent out of the mix our pick could be reflected more like pick 16... Brett Burton David Haynes Geel Scott Thompson Mel Rick Ladson Stephen Gilham Josh Willoughby Syd Adam Pattison Ric Richard Douglas Adel Mitchell Brown WC Matthew Lobbe PA Ryan Schoenmakers Pick 18 Daniel Schell Freo Rhyce Shaw Daniel Kerr Shane Harvey Ess Kris Shone NM Llane Spanderman Br Cameron Wood Bris Max Bailey Haw Leroy Jetta Ess Alex Rance Rich Luke Shuey WC Pick 23 taking into account GC have taken some talent so roughly our pick would reflect this level of talent available? Chris Ladhams Ess Daniel Foster Geelong Drew Petrie Charlie Gardner Tom Lonergan Matthew Moody Bris Sean Rusling Coll Ryan Cook Coll Paul Stewart PA Tayte Pears David Zaharakis I was on a roll so out of interest Pick 34 Brian Bienke Adel Leon Davis Ryan Lonie Simon Okeefe Ess Sean Dempster Syd Luke Peel Pt Adel James Ezard PA Matthew Spanger Chris Schmidt Bris Dawson Simpson Liam Shiels And yes I did do pick 50 just because I know BP, CC and DB really need the info for Thursday... Damien Adkins Coll Matthew Whelan Dominic Casissi Paul Salmon Hawt Josh Thewlis Syd Iszac Thompson WB Jatden Attard Bris Sam Lonergan Ess Will Schofield WC Dan McKenna Geel Jordan Lisle So there you go..... Now you can make a judgement on the Luke Ball debate based on benchmarks of the past. In addition this info may also assist those debating the tall v small v ruckman/ best available v needs arguements! So analyse the data and put your case based on it people. All I can say is pick 11 stands out as almost defintely getting a quality player from there it just becomes more and more hit and miss. I hope this helps everyone in some way to heal as a club and realise its a game of inches... (forgive the butchered (NPI) movie quotes!)
  4. very nice poll bd! Secondly on the above statement has anyone got the research to share the last 10 years pick 11 and 18 as a point of interest it may show us a trend on the value of players picked at these points in the draft from a historical point of view. Or should we be looking at picks 16 and 23 given players that would normally have been available if not for gcoast? Either way that might give us some more data to help bp db and cc with their decision. I know they have been reading and are counting on us to be thorough!
  5. Agree - I am starting to think we may pick him despite everything... I think the AFLs letter this week regards to draft tampering supports Melbourne in calling his bluff. I think now we may go tall at 11 (agree or disagree) and then Ball at 18....then best available ruck ruck option at 34..... Then again who knows.... M Thorpe apparently has stress fractures could be a red herring though....so we could in fact still land all three which if they worked out would give us 3 players with more maturity 2 of which were high first round draftees..... Interesting it all is.... (Ok now pull me apart!)
  6. [censored] dont be smart.... Any discussion on any article is exciting this like our GF lol.....or even Xmas... [censored] = Scrooge lol FWIWWINM = (For what its worth which is not much) - I dont think BP is under the pump... I think he has it all sorted.... GO BP GO Dees!!
  7. Agree on Talia - clearly the best tall at that point if we are going to go for a tall. Plus that would really upset Carlton so even better!! Talia also gives us cover if Garlard or any of the other defenders get injured. I can also see us giving Garland a good go up forward where i think he has a lot to offer!
  8. We can trust the FD on this one. We can be sure if the rumour is true it will be bye bye.... But if it is a red herring the draft could be pick 50 M. Thorpe..... Our FD are 'so hot right now....'
  9. IMO we have our top talent Forward in Watts....and complimented with options such as Jarrah, Bate, Green (please play him there as an option!!) even Bruce and Davey and times will cause other teams immense headaches. Not to mention Pettard, Maric who if we see more improvement out of those guys we have plenty of options! Hawthorn and Bris are the only 2 teams in the comp that have 2 top talent tall forwards.... Kosi at the saints is not a top talent tall forward IMO. He is a Stefan Martin type switcher... I think that it will take more courage to stay the course from our FD and pick best available than to resist a big risk on a tall at 11. Picking a tall at is a safe option but and rightly pointed out generally they are never world beaters at this pick. Id be more inclined to go with best available. Getting some feeling in my bones we are going to take Black at 11 and Ball at 18..... Then the best available ruck option at 34...... Thursday cant come quick enough can it!! Then we can all get over ourselves doing our own heads in....
  10. Meesen does have upside but we never really saw him on the park. Hawks or anyone else is taking a big risk but the FD has done the right thing. If its meant to be he will still be there as a rookie. If not we havent really lost anything as we never really had anything....if that makes any sense at all! Spencer sure does divide opinion on here! IMO he has huge upside but at this point thats all it is - potential. Give him time we will see. Jury is out on you big Jake time to step up!!
  11. IMO reality is that he is nothing like Rivers and gives us more body strength at the right age for our list. We all get so excited as 'how will he fit in' and 'how will he get a game' and 'will he be in the best 22?' The answer is simple 'yes' We so easily forget that every year we are hammered with injuries and or players in and out of form. Reality - Junior will miss many games this year as his body slows down. Grimes will be freed up to take part in learning how to be part of our mid field. Bruce may even be able to take some time up forward. Remember the days Bruce was able to do that! Strauss doesnt have to be under pressure if he is struggling to come on at anytime through the year. Its a long long year - reality is we may only have our 'best' team on the ground for anything from 0-22 rounds......Our young players cant and wont play every week. We need hardened bodies to be able to maintain consistancy in performance and compete. There we go now you can all jump in and rip what Ive said to shreds.......
  12. Im not sure about Tappy at 11. He is very similar to Maric who we already have coming through. Stevens, Lucas or Melksham if available and go for a mid. Im sure we will go tall though...
  13. I say this without any evidence or being bothered to research so I'm sure I'll be shot down. But has there been a better no1 psd pick than jarruh in terms if upside? I know their must have been some guns along the way but i would have thought jarruh would have been one of the best in terms of psd draft picks?
  14. Agreed tapscott will slide. Alot of people are saying we will select him but we already have a better version in maric. I think one of Lucas, Stevens, butcher and Rohan will slide outside top 10 and there we will be waiting!!!! How brilliant!!
  15. agreed hangon if spurs is right I say we nominate him for life membership on the mfc recruitment team! I think it is a long long long shot as anyone can be well educated in the draft but no one ever really knows what each club is going to do in the moment so only time will tell. Fingers crossed for the next few couple of weeks!
  16. what's that??? thought I heard a fly buzzing around... Better go get the ole fly swatter..... Instead of coming on here and bleating rubbish looking to start a riot why don't you put yr money where yr mouth is on who will be first to win a flag next mfc or the filth.... End of story hey....
  17. is that why hawthorn don't want him to play any games so he is not in show to any other clubs? You didn't answer butch and tapscott... Not having a go at you as if your drafts came to reality that would be beyond our wildest dreams. Only problem being that I think they may be exactly that...
  18. Do you really think butch will be there at 11? Tapscott 18? Patrick at 50??? Sorry is this meant to be closest to the pin or my dream draft as they are very different...
  19. For my 2 cents I hve 2 scenarios V1 scully trengove Talia (assuming butch is gone) vardy Patrick grimes or dare or temmel or whowouldknow v2 scully trengove tapscott or Lucas griffths or Carlisle gawn whoeverisleft
  20. smart no, greedy and lazy yes.... He has max 2 yrs which is why he wants 500k first up for first 2 seasons and then happy with 75 for the third. Thing is he won't be playing the third so he gets his money upfront while his body lasts. I must say well done to Ross Lyon who knew what he was dealing with and got rid of him.
  21. agreed on all fronts... Interesting voss has said they will draft him if he is their and doesn't care if he wants to come or not would love to see DB say the same so we force Ess to go early with their pick.
  22. I also noted Caroline Wilson in the age has said Voss doesn't care where he wants to go he is going to draft him if he thinks he's best available. I suggest DB says exactly the same so it forces other clubs to go early.
  23. since you mentioned I'll say it again - I just hate Luke Ball.
  24. don't worry powelly give it a cpl of yrs at most and players at 'that' stage of their career will want to come to us as they will love the look of our list and see a great chance to get their premiership...our fd and football training facilities will be closer to being top class and sorted out. As I said in another thread my hope is that it is all still allowed by the afl to play out like this when our time does come and players can opening say they will only play for melb and get away with it.
  25. I hate LB and his manager. I don't want him any pick. He wants 500k for each of the next 2 seasons with the 3rd at 75k. That's because he knows he has at best 2 seasons left before his body packs it in. He is not quality person he is a sly dog. Don't need him he is a liability and total waste of our time. After We beat bombers an pies this year I hope our players go and ask him if he thinks he made the right decision. He is not smart and lacks the ability to determine what's real and what bs he is being fed by others. Bye LB we have had a gutful of you.....
