  1. We made Priddis look like Ablett in that game. It could easily have been a calculated error, in that he only hits his targets by foot 22 out 100 times. We gave him more room to get the footy & make errors (as some speculate the opposition did with us & Bruce) but unfortunately Priddis used up his full quota of precise kicks against us...
  2. It is a cultural thing that changes with personnel and as we've had a lot of list turnover in recent yeads, I'm content that we have eradicated it, whether the perception remains or not. If it does, then some teams are in for a rude shock...
  3. That was a widely held perception of the club & it was probably due to all the soft players we had in the side.
  4. I think you mean yuile only where them two a knight game.
  5. Until I read the above post I was about to suggest that Grimes would pick up a defensive forward. On the money. An advanced concept for some...
  6. Even if Nicholson performs well, I can't see him getting upgraded before Campbell. We're in more need of ruck depth than we are of another speedy flanker.
  7. Losing a pick 2 in Ball for nothing didn't help them. Neither did using such a high pick on X Clarke.
  8. A lot of artistic license being used in this thread...
  9. St Kilda also lack the real depth that we have. They are forced at times to make do with imho only-just-good-enough role players like Eddy, McQualter & Dempster.
  10. Probably when the magpie hordes talk about their resident dynasty.
  11. The only question is whether that will be for the demons or in the VAFA...
  12. Just some interesting tweets. Not something to take too seriously, but I like to know how the opposition (or football public in general) regard us. And this one particularly took my fancy:
  13. What's really shocking is his 2011 top 4: Pies, Dockers, Dees, Crows.
  14. Depends on your perception of guilt & innocence and what crime we are discussing. Yes, he is guilty of being locked up on new years. That's a fact, whether he deserved it or not. No, I personally don't think he is guilty of a crime that should bring about the termination of his contract & end his AFL career.
  15. The point is that just because he is named in that position, it does not dictate the style in which he plays the game. It will not restrict him in any way. Maybe it should be structured thus, to make you happy: BP, FB, BP HBF, CHB, HBF W, C, W HFF, CHF, HFF, HFF FP, FP R, RR, R
  16. I think you could be right. I'd also like to add that I met Fev briefly on the international rules tour of ireland in 2006. He was a great bloke, fun & caring, seemed to love a good time. The issue with him was when to stop. Late in the day he & Barry Hall had a HUGE win on the horses (we were all at the Galway races) and that kicked it up a gear. They all started to drink more & he gradually become more of a smart arse. Some people are bad drunks & he seems to be one of them. I saw him about an hour before he put that bartender in a headlock and he wasn't far from being ready for bed. It's a real Jekyll & Hyde thing with Fev.
  17. This is only backyard DIY psychology, but I think he doesn't want to be aware of the consequences of his actions, or rather he is subconsciously aware of them and acts accordingly. I think he's stuck in a cycle of self-destruction, brought on by self-loathing from all his indiscretions, and addictive personality and depression. The guy is in a serious rut & I honestly hope he manages to get out of it.
  18. I think the incident in itself is only minor, but it is an indication of the bloke's state of mind. I feel sorry for him, as much as you can feel sorry for a bloke paid millions of dollars to play a game...
  19. Certain people have been predicting this outcome for some time. When a player is forced to live and play in a different state to his wife & kids, it always manages to have a seriously adverse affect. I think BF is doing the best to see out his contract (he needs the money) but will be back in melbourne the second his contract runs out (whether prematurely or not).
  20. Never understood why people who make these highlight packages seem to want to couple them with (usually a poor choice of) music. Personally I'm watching it for the footy & the footy alone. The video montages by "mfcnow" are distinctly different though.
  21. Why? It doesnt mean he has to sit in the goalsquare and play like most people's idea of a "traditional FF". Very few do in today's game.
  22. I'm not so certain of your second comment. I think our list is full of good leaders now and leadership potential. What we need more are experienced cool heads & good communicators to guide the kids. This is not exclusive to the captain or even the leadership group. The kids have the talent but will need a bit of guidance at times.
