  1. Yes but they didn't go for Dylan Grimes, even though it would have only cost our last pick, but they didn't
  2. Well done WJ. You are the most thorough poster on this site. Cheers. PS Yes Redleg, I thought that question had a fair degree of douchebaggery to it, ordinary thing to ask in a public forum in front of the players. Type of thing that could make them reconsider having question time in the future
  3. They said at the time they obviously watched a lot of Naitanui for that draft, they ended up going with Watts but had noticed Benny and the Jett having watched all those swan districts matches with NN
  4. not sure what the point of this is to declare we want Scully to stay at Melbourne is like declaring you want to continue breathing oxygen through your lungs
  5. a) There is nothing outlandish about his statements. It is well recognised that we have possibly the best list in the competition, and similar comments have been made about us from other members of 'the fotball world' (hate that term!) B) As others have noted, it is about time we showed some confidence. If Bailey does not show confidence how can he expect his boys to play with the confidence they should. 100% behind Bails, he hasn't set a foot wrong since he walked in and sent Johnstone packing for Jack Grimes
  6. I reckon we will deliver on the promise we have right now - of course we could fizzle out, or do a St.Kilda and just nearly get there without really getting there, but gee everything is pointing towards the ultimate success. I also reckon we have a share of supporters that is higher than most clubs who are waiting in the wings to show their support. This is because they are a long-suffering, jaded bunch who are refusing to get excited until we walk the walk. When we become a top4 side again I really honestly think our membership and attendances will skyrocket into one of the top clubs, maybe top 5 or 6. Obviously it is wishful thinking but I am quite confident it will pan out for us - Schwab, Stynes and Bailey certainly seem to think so
  7. yep, there is a really strong rapport between all facets of the club right now. United we stand!
  8. i am a bit crook so it was the only thing i had planned to do tonight now i'm stuffed
  9. Just thought of something: Schwab said something like: "We can now look our boys in the eye and tell them that they have the same opportunities as the blokes they're playing against" this is in the context of proper facilities, staff, being debt-free etc It's a hugely important thing for the club, the difference between contenders and also-rans
  10. plenty for Morton to do has all the weapons but fails to use them far too often will be an interesting one to watch, right now is in the Brock McLean/Travis Johnstone basket for mine
  11. yeah that's why I asked, hoping someone would offer something, alas the mystery of the post's deletion remains unsolved pick 18 for this bloke.. wouldn't mind seeing something, even Blease has got on the park a bit and he broke his leg
  12. I just said that article establishes absolutely nothing either way It should just say 'Bails obviously rates Scully. The End.'
  13. wtf that says absolutely nothing it's talking in the past tense as if TS has signed a contract but he hasn't, and has no comment from the Scully camp whatsoever garbage
  14. Since day dot, Dean Bailey has talked about his aim to build a team of mates. That is, a group of young blokes who are genuine friends not just teamates. His theory (as reiterated tonight) is that you go a little bit harder for your mates when it comes to crunch time. Barry Prendergast also made a comment that they have tended to recruit blokes from the same junior sides, which you could say is a way of building that mateship before the players even get to the club. We have noticed this drafting in the past: * Jamie Bennell and Neville Jetta from Swan Districts * Jack Watts, Sam Blease and James Strauss from Vic Metro * Jack Trengove and Luke Tapscott (and Jack Viney!) from Prince Alfred College and Tonight we were told Cale Morton and the new kid Michael Evans were in the same class and that rookie Cameron Johnston and Brent Moloney have a junior connection too. Not sure if I have missed any others (please inform). In light of other discussions on the board, you wonder if this specific recruiting slant will build a stronger unit, and help keep blokes at the club?
  15. someone asked for a dollar value on what the difference between 33k and 40k members is, they were told about half a million bucks oh and every MCC member through the gate is worth $13 if anyone is interested in that!
  16. you know what, at the AGM tonight I noticed when Bails was on stage his shirt was true fire engine red, but in the TV monitors and projectors it looked a lot pinker! Did anyone else reckon that? I think there is genuinely something in what someone said earlier that the reflectivity(?) of the material may affect the way it appears in photos/TV
  17. I love it how he takes those little pauses when he speaks, everyone holds their breath.. as mentioned above it was a little arrogant, not just confident tonight, which I think is fantastic. I think he is a little bit proud of himself as he has achieved exactly what he set out to do up to this point and he knows where it is headed I liked how he told 'cell that even though he is retiring, he will be out there with us when we bring home the cup, and that the new jumper design isnt big enough to accomodate all the extra stars we will be adding to it go Bails
  18. can I ask why on Earth the posts between glengarry and myself were deleted? I was asking about Luke Tapscott - what is/has been his injury status, what has anyone seen of him at Casey, are we expecting to see him in red and blue anytime soon etc pretty reasonable line of discussion not breaking any rules?
  19. this time last year I came home from the AGM more than a little concerned. Schwab and co had laid it on the line exactly how much of a mess we were in. So much has changed in 12 months, and our fightback is a credit to the administration, to Bails, to the players and the supporters.
  20. thing that struck me most was Bailey, I have never heard such confidence from him. We all know his old message was essentially 'we need to be more competitive' now it's 'we WILL win a flag, don't worry about that' also the new draftees are a huge bunch, I didn't realise Cook was almost the same height as Campbell, big boys
  21. they do look pink check out pic 21.. beamer looks like something out of '300'
  22. has anyone ever seen Tapscott do anything with a football or is he just famous for his gigantic neck? What's the story with him?
  23. I didn't realise you were in first year of uni, or did you puill a sickie?
  24. ah right, my apologies my faith in the injury prone has been reinstated with seeing Sylvia, Rivers and Moloney on the park consistently the other side of the spectrum is McLean. Yikes.
  25. Hi! are you going to the info night tonight? There is question time at the end, I would love someone to ask (without being specific to Tom Scully) what the club's philosophy/strategy is regarding keeping together the fantastic list they have done so well and suffered so badly to assemble
