agree one million percent. Even a number 1 won't be fair, I think he will be a better than average number 1, better than most of the last 10 number ones. Massive call but I believe it.
sorry mate but as E25 has just pointed out, none of that stuff matters. He can be a rich footballer or a very rich footballer that's all there is to it.
and the club has done something about it, I am sure the manager's press release was at the behest of the club after everyone went into meltdown today
I think that is on the level. I think the club has asked his manager to put that out because of all the hysteria, which is epitomised in this thread. The GWS stuff is all rubbish, but that doesn't mean he is 100% going to stay at Melbourne at the end of the year. As far as I'm concerned we shouldn't even really discuss it anymore.
oh shut up
Hawthorn, St.Kilda, Carlton, Richmond, West Coast, Collingwood, Bulldogs even the Cats via F/S picks.. all these sides have cleaned up over the last 6-7 years in the draft, what did we get, one priority pick big friggin whoop.
That's the thought that worries me. If GWS has made this offer and TS has declined in favour of stayiong at the Dees, why doesn't he just sign up with MFC now? That would kill the conjecture and lift this massive pressure off him immeditaely. Not sure why his manager wouldn't be recommending this course of action if indeed his intetnion is to stay at the Dees. There is also the chance that any of 15 other clubs could be lining him up, maybe that's what the wait is for.
Why is he a dog? We live in a world where we have people in sweatshops making 30c an hour while their boss makes $1500 a day. That's because the pursuit of unneccessary personal wealth at all costs (aka greed) is a perfectly acceptable part of our sick society. The very fact that GWS exists and the AFL stacks the deck in their favour is all about their sense of personal greed. Why should Scully be any different?
yes because your current employer told you to
who does everyone feel like punching more - McGuire or Sheedy? i tell you what it would be a hard choice if they were both standing here now. I might have to go with some sort of roundhouse into the pair of them
man it is going to be torture watching him all year. I won't feel much like celebrating when he plays a good game. Whatever happens from here the pressure has just gone up on him tremendously. Fancy running around out there with everyone talking about you as one of the highest paid players in the game in your second year and your teammates not knowing if you are in or out. This sucks.
You're just praying it is something like that
Even if we get a number 1 pick in advance, won't it be for next year in which case we already Viney lined up? So other clubs will force us (by bidding) to use #1 on Viney instead of say #10 as we were going to. Therefore #10 will be our compensation for Scully who is the best prospect on our list. Plus it is set back 2 years
as I've said all along, the challenge, premiership success, playing for mates, historical club at the MCG, it's all b-[censored]. All that anyone cares about is money and it trumps the rest every time. This is perfectly accepted in the AFL, epitomised by the incredible betrayal by both Judd and Ablett. Scully won't be any different and nobody will hold it against him, and it may well cost us flags. It will be in the name of league expansion so the AFL can get a few dollars more.
now that i look at the calendar, the time between his injury and rd 1 is 9.5 weeks.. if it is an 8-10 week injury shouldn't that be more than a 'faint chance'?
dog act? most on here copped it on the chin and trotted out the 'if another employer offred you more' line when Carlton simply purchased Chris Judd in most illegal fashion, when it was obvious he should have been wearing the number 3 of his idol and captaining his boyhood club out of the grasp of extinction (at the time)
how would Scully taking the money and running be considered a dog act in comparison
