  1. I disagree, Max was in need of an attitude adjustment. Some tough love from Roosy was the making of him.
  2. Yep. If he’s the second choice to Sloane as the leadership, development role that’s fine. Midfield and forward line need experienced coaches.
  3. That’s what was reported. Turns out he just wanted out of Collingwood. That said, I expect deputy CEO at Carlton will actually be pretty cruisy for the year. Then it’s game on when he takes the full time job.
  4. They chose a Collingwood first over North. That’s a stinker. Port’s deal a bit of a shocker. Pies laughing
  5. But Port paid a F1 for Luko which is pretty expensive for my tastes. Maybe they get cap relief. But they’re taking on Ratkins so that counters that?
  6. I think there’s a few levels of speed between Windsor and Jagga. Agree he’s smart, quick to reposition etc. But not sure he’s got the leg speed we’d love to add to our midfield. His hands are very reliable but not on the level of a Murphy Reid. He has a little bit of everything. I get the same thing applies for Lalor but I would’ve loved to have seems bit more of him playing dominant midfield games.
  7. That’s a heist from Collingwood. The suns are something else
  8. Geelong got a good pick out of Essendon for a small trade back last year, I think that kind of move requires a very high level player at a premium position. Essendon did it for Caddy. I can see Richmond doing it for Harry Armstrong but you need to get to the draft and tease a team with credible offers, it’s a rare scenario.
  9. Lalor’s been linked stronger to Richmond than anyone else so far. It’s all very Cam Rayner but I reckon he goes top 3. His skill for a powerful beast type is rare. Smith is neither skilled nor fast. Draper’s skills didn’t stand up at SANFL level. And the more I watch of FOS - who I like more than Smith and Draper - the more I worry about his inside ball winning and his kicking. His overhead marking is just special stuff, but he might end up a hybrid half forward more than a pure midfielder.
  10. Langford/Lalor fit the mold for the mids we like a lot more than the other top rated guys
  11. You can upgrade rookies and the draft never ends. So if you want you can trade picks in rounds 1-4 and use 5,6,7 to pick players. But we’ll upgrade a rookie and use 2 early picks as it currently stands. It’s not a problem.
  12. If North get 13 and are a live chance of Houston… 2 and 13 for 5 and 9 please!
  13. Who’s Gus playing for next year?
  14. Hugh Boxshall and Jack Ough in the same draft. Let’s get them both.
  15. Mentha won’t go in the national draft, he’s a small skinny kid from Alice who didn’t get a kick half of the time. Derksen might be off, but we can slide future picks to accumulate value. GWS would surely like our future 2 and Ess f 3 more than their own. There’s hidden value there.
  16. They’re the 2 I’d like to trade back to 12 to get! Carlton like us are trying to fix their skill/outside run deficiencies.
  17. Don’t know and can’t spell his name but the tall guy of the 2 Irish kids that came out is apparently rated very highly. Mentha doesn’t have to go through the rookie draft if he’s undrafted in the main draft. And yes, otherwise pick 5 in the rookie draft is mostly equivalent to an end of the draft pick. Probably the same value as pick 65
  18. This was before the Essendon deal. We now need to rely on GWS sending us some junk picks or some other method. Our F2, Essendon’s F3 for GWS’ F2 and F3, Derksen and picks in the 50’s??? i think that rule got quietly scrapped during covid.
  19. Yeah we didn’t have to use many of them in 2021 but that was more of a fluke that realistically repeatable. Guys like Bedford and JJ were busting to get in to the 22, even Melk as a veteran wanted in. Depth might be overrated, fringe players are fringe players. But health of the list is important, especially with a lot of 30+ guys who will break down if you ride them in to the ground.
  20. 6 confirmed outs (Gus, ANB, Hunter, Schache, BBB, KFW) with 2 more surely a matter of time. 2 confirmed in (Kentfield, Campbell). Plus Sharp on the way. So 3/8 filled. 2 potential Cat B rookies (Mentha, Irish) that might push AMW on to a main list or just consume an extra rookie spot? Could be 4/8 if that goes our way. I’d like to get to 3 national draft picks and then have an open try out for the final list spot all through summer. Bring in some hungry state league players.
  21. It does impact our depth tho, which I personally think leads to bad culture and standards as you keep guys you don’t rate who just collect cheques at Casey and puts pressure on the coaches to play the same side rather than have real competition for spots. When we did the Pickett deal we folded it back from 8 to 12 and grabbed Rivers with the second rounder. Won’t be until the draft but Id be very open to doing the same here given how even the second tier of prospects looks in this draft. There’s a couple of specific guys I think we might target with pick 9 who are more of a needs/unique skill set selection who could be there at 12. There’s your second rounder back. Also - do what you got to do - knee cap someone, bribe someone, call in the Peaky freaking blinders to get this Irish kid. That’s your 3rd rounder.
  22. The pies future 4th is the ultimate slider! I suspect Collingwood just wait until we delist him
  23. I guess we had to do 28 and the future first for 9, that’s the minimum price for a quality pick. 46 gets cancelled out by the future 3rd. 65 is junk. Did we have to put both 40 and 54 in, I guess the deal says yes and Essendon needed points picks for Kako to do the deal to begin with. I hope we find a way to get a 3rd rounder, if not for Derk then at least for JT to have a crack at a slider.
  24. I’m still hoping we get GWS’ pair of picks in the 50’s via Stringer from Essendon for a future 4th but that seems less likely now. Plus we might still trade out a certain player…
