  1. To save any more confusion , spoke toIan Kyte, Regional Manager of/at Calder Cannons whom emailed with info below regarding his age (28/2/1992)and draft situation. His reply is: Dear John Birth date is correct. He is going to draft camp as a possible Gold Coast 17 year old dart choice, They can pick 12 this year and have already signed 8. They are taking 6 other possibilities to Draft camp to make their final 4 selections Regards, Ian Kyte AFL Victoria Region Manager Calder Cannons Football Club
  2. YES- if the club decides to go down that track. They may not want to have a pick in PSD. However most likely they will. Note, we are guessing what our club will do.Nobody knows- I don't think the club has truthfully made up its mind yet. At least two months to go yet.
  3. Yes- simply they are saying that MFC will not be offering Flash as a trade, however if they cannot come to an amicable agreement, the most likely scenario will be he will go in PSD draft. However, I do not think this will happen and strongly feel we will get great news by the weekend
  4. I rang Calder Cannons regarding Luke Mitchell & Serhart Temel this morning and they alerted me to this sectionof their website.-A record 13 Calder Cannons U18 TAC Cup listed players have been invited to attend AFL National Draft Camp and Victoria State Screening Day. The Calder Cannons FC is delighted to announce that Jake Carlisle, Robbie Hicks, Taylor Hine, Anthony Long, Jake Melksham, Luke Mitchell and Daniel Talia have all been selected to attend the 2009 AFL National Draft to be held at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra beginning on September 29th. The club is also pleased to announce that Sam Ezard, Brendan Fewster, Tommy Hunter, James Lawton, Serhat Temel and Jacob Thompson have been invited to this years Victoria State Screening Day. WELL DONE BOYS!!! for reference-http://www.sportingpulse.com/club_info.cgi?client=1-3020-27642-0-0&sID=54943&&news_task=DETAIL&articleID=9910014&sectionID=54943 Therefore Luke is off to draft tomorrow, Temel will go to State screening
  5. Please find out if he played last Saturday in GF UNDER 16'S. If so, how did he go thank you
  6. For the record- Griffiths is injury prone, Butcher failed both Maffra & Under 18 finals ,ditto Carlisle whom spent quite a considerable amount of time on the bench in the GF.Temel kicked 22 goals in 4 finals.
  7. I respect your viewpoint- however, it is fact that Greg Denham stated what was in the original topic. If you do not accept that -well go to SEN podcast - Kevin Bartlett show for verification. Then apologise.
  8. No doubt he will be at the Victorian screening-as per http://www2.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?p=15715891.
  9. I respect others viewpoints. However, to say one believes he will be there for our pick , currently at 34. Gee I hope this would be true. Please explain to me why , with his performance he is not better than Butcher, Carlisle, Griffiths as far as current performances. Cannons were in 7th place at the start of the finals, He kicked 8, then 7, then, I think 2, then 5, in the GF. To me, in watching under age football for 40 years, this is an unbelievable performance - re consistency and accurracy. I watched him in all finals. This is where performance counts. Cannot think of another forward with a record like this. If he does not go before 40 - I will give up. But if I am right,I will remind you & Pringle. Bring on November 26th.
  10. I repeat -my statement was he would go before 40,not 11 -
  11. refer to article-http://messenger-news.whereilive.com.au/sport/story/roosters-sign-son-of-a-gun/ where he was only 14 at the time of story which was March 2009.
  12. wow- pringle what a call- gee I have a bit of spendoler to place a bet that he goes under 40. Wish you were a bookmaker.
  13. I am deeply sorry if I am wrong once again with my topic- however it is my believe that the draft camp is this week-Tue, Sept 29 – 2009 Draft Camp begins, AIS Canberra Fri, Oct 2 – 2009 Draft Camp ends As you rightly point out he may attend the SA screenings but exams will most probably around or at least he will be preparing for them. Also, one of the best footballers I have seen in the last decade Adam Goodes wasn't invited and after kicking, I think 5 goals in the Grand final Under 18 he was picked up by the Swans (pick 54 by memory.)Temel is going to be a sensational footballer. Any footballer who kicked 22 goals over the 4 finals is a very good prospect. Unfortunately in reflection we probably will not get him as he will go under 11. He is the most promising tall, I have seen for the last 10 years, since Goodes. I rate him better than Franklin at this stage in their careers.
  14. It is my understanding that Jack just turned 15 in April this year therefore another 3 years of under age football. I therefore understand that West Sydney will not get a look in,as in the 2012 draft, they can sellect players but he will only qualify as a father/son. This is my interpretation as in http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,2...8851,00.html.If I am wrong, please explain. Thanks
  15. I do not agree with your thoughts. I feel this year is D/Day for Bailley. He has had two years to prune the list , put his mantra on it and now he has to perform and show this young list a winning culture. If not out the door .I expect to win at least 8 games.Thank God. the rumour by Hutchie re Bailley gaining another year extension has not been invoked as yet.
  16. thank you for your sound criticsm. However, I feel German was not sooki- la -laing. He was being professional.Just telling it ,as it is.In any partnership re MFC & Casey, need to be fair dinkum with each other. Also, playing finals are great experience for any player.Actually, I am not a Newton fan, but by gee I congratulate him for stepping up and playing.
  17. All eyes will be on young players hoping draft camp will ensure their future. 3 players whom I hope MFC look favourably at will not be attending, SCULLY, TRENGOVE & TEMEL. Morabito will no doubt be the star attraction. What others do you see could highlight?
  18. Does anyone know whether he played .He did not feature in the best or goalkickers. If he played, your thoughts please?
  19. Why the GC? WHY COULDN'T WE OR OTHERS PICK HIM UP?

    Rookies

Why do they have to go through ND,it states 3 years is allowable
  21. Agree totally- that is why I raised the topic as well as German is a great coach & in particular development.
  22. your lazy- all you had to do Demonology to read in full.Sorry next time I will put all info in for members like you
  23. Fair point- however in rasing topic re German and hopefully retaining him, I just hope for him and us in developing the relationship with Casey, we should be developing a positive/ strong relationship with Casey.I went to the Grand Final-VFL last Friday night and in the North Ballarat side there were 8 quality North Mebourne players & for Bullants-10 listed players. To me this is not only assisting German whom wants and strives for success, he wants to develop players with a winning culture. Next year, hoping this will happen.
  24. Wheatley seemed fine running around assisting the coaching staff at Eastern Ranges whilst Casey was still playing

    Rookies

In 2007 I gained a copy of the AFL rules. Whilst their have been changes, and I realise to the rookie list I do not believe, this part has been changed.if so correct me. If it hasn't then the rookie players can stay as is:no need to make any upgraded to senior list, unless they want to. Player Rules – June 2007 (ii) the Player is eligible to be selected by any Club at the next National Draft Selection Meeting if he has previously or again nominates himself for the National Draft Selection Meeting. 21.3.8 Passing on a Draft selection A Club that passes on any Draft selection at a Rookie Draft Selection Meeting shall be excluded from exercising any further Draft selection(s) at that Rookie Draft Selection Meeting. 21.4 Retention of Rookie List Players (a) A Club may retain a Player on its Rookie List for a second season provided it nominates such Player or Players prior to advising the AFL of its Primary List under Rule 4.1.1 and such Player consents to being nominated on the Rookie List for a second season. (B) A Club may retain a Player on its Rookie List for a third season provided that the Player has nominated himself for and was not selected at the National Draft Selection Meeting prior to the Rookie Draft Selection Meeting and prior to the Pre-Season Draft Selection Meeting the Club provides the AFL with written evidence of the Club’s and Player’s agreement to be retained as a Rookie for a third season which agreement must specify that the Player can and only will be retained as a Rookie for a third season if he is not selected by any Club at the Pre-Season Draft Selection Meeting. © A Club may retain a Player included on a Club’s Rookie List under Rule 21.3.4(a)(i) and (ii) for a third season provided it nominates such Player prior to advising the AFL of its Primary List under Rule 4.1.1 and such Player consents to being nominated on the Rookie List for a third season. 21.5 Inclusion of Rookie List Player onto Primary List 21.5.1 Prohibition
