  1. Friday week,25th September, at the Etihad stadium. It is the match before the VFL grand final. Previously played for a lifetime now before AFL grand final where the Under 16's will play.At least we will have the opportunity to see possible draft picks play now and in the future..
  2. Maybe previous selections were not up to scratch- Maybe McLean has not lived up to his initial promise, maybe Sylvia hasn't either except for this year, where fitnesswise he improved dramatically. Maybe Bruce is on the way down. Maybe McDonald is virtually retiring. These are the reasons I pertain-why we need better players re the possible recruitment of midfielders for 1 & 2.If you remember we chased Prismall last year.So the club must have thought we had weakness there for a while. Also, if you like we picked up Strauss, Blease, Bennell, Jetta, Healey and McKenzie -all small players whom should be able to rotate in the centre somewhat. Therefore the club may not go for midfielders as 1&2. Food for thought anyhow.
  3. AFL Media Association's awards last night where Fox Sports' On The Couch, featuring Herald Sun chief football writer Mike Sheahan and Herald Sun columnists Gerard Healy and James Hird, was named best program on television. This notification came from the Herald Sun today.
  4. RATED BEST FOOTBALL SHOW ON TV RE LAST NIGHT'S MEDIA AWARDS. Do you agree?
  5. Just had notice this morning to say that Foxtel will be broadcasting this match. ABC will show highlights at half time as per notification to me regarding this matter from the ABC as per Dear John Thank you for your email. ABC Sport has advised that Fox Sports have the rights to provide the full telecast of the TAC Cup prior to the ABC's LIVE HD broadcast of the VFL Grand Final. However the result of the TAC Cup and highlights of the game will be provided at half time on our VFL telecast. I hope you enjoy the match. Thank you for your interest in the ABC. Kind regards Anna Lee Audience and Consumer Affairs
  6. Wayne Carey has one of the best football brains ever born. Pagan used him for his forward coaching at Carlton with Fevola, Collingwood used him before that. Even to have such an ex brilliant motivated player around young men such as Watts etc.. would be brilliant. With regards to his brain, the way he spoke on Footy Clsssified the other week was superb.Really together. If not, we should try to gain the Ox, David would also be brilliant. We need someone to assist us with our kicking-especially in front of goal. Williams- you thoughts intrigue me here. He is a ripper coach especially with young men. Highly respected and experienced. We may gain great young draftees but our need is coaching to bring out the best. And, by the way, how lucky are we to have Peter German at Casey. We may be gaining the stock but they have to produce- Don't they?
  7. I've been pushing Ben Griffiths or Serhat Temel's barrow but this guy is seriously a worthy consideration either a later pick or rookie. One has to say he played as the older player in the team, now 19 1/2 born 29/04/09. Also currently injured- done an ankle. Hope he can play this week as they will need him.
  8. Got your point Whispering Jack- but anyone with a heart has to wish the young lad especially what he has been through a HAPPY BIRTHDAY.See you Saturday Ben and kick the house down.(or at least 4)
  9. He would be ideal -never thought of him. This is where this forum is great when people put there thoughts forward. Could also help out these young forwards as he was also good up front. I here Jimmy Stynes met the football dept tonight and I hear the coaching panel were discussed as well as list management. And don't forget these forums are read by Scwabbie etc..
  10. Great suggestion-BALLS
  11. We have heard nothing regarding this topic in the press or on our website etc.. There has been talk that Fremantle are chasing West as a full time assistant- gee I hope he stays with us full time. Bret Ratten only stayed a year, but I think we have the makings of a great mid field but they really need a quality coach to help them reach it. Also, I think we need an outstanding forward coach or a partime one such as Wayne Carey. Also, a decent ruck coach, such as Paul Salmon whom is a personal friend of Bailley. Or someone like him should be requested to come in on a adhoc basis. I like the development coaches and feel Wellman is a great coach for our backline. It is a pity that Rawlings has gone to Brisbane or he would have made a good forward coach. Your opinions please .
  12. I agree refer to what Sean Wellman said in the list assessmemt(http://www.melbournefc.com.au/---James Strauss – James had an injury-interrupted year. It was disappointing we didn't get as much football as we would've liked into Watts, Blease and Strauss. Unfortunately, James had a back injury and he also had shoulder surgery but he has some great attributes – he is a good kick and is powerful. We rate him really highly and he's a great kid but he just needs to have a very big summer. Hope he has a sensational summer, maybe another Dangerfield type but out of a half back flank.
  13. Depending on subjects the VCE EXAMINATION TIMETABLE SHOWS SUBJECTS EXAMS GO TO 19TH NOVEMBER 2009 REFERhttp://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/exams/timetable.html,therefore I repeat in my opening topic mid to late November is a possibility that Watts & Blease may get back into serious training.
  14. What do you think Bailley has done to develop his list. Play them in many positions- to learn and be accountable. Garland has got great attributes to be a class winger. Look at Clay & Woods in one of the best teams ever at Richmond during there prime years. They were brilliant- MORTON & GARLAND on both wings- BRILLIANT.Watts will never play as an ongoing winger- he will play as a forward,Dunn, if he can get a game as a utility. However Jurrah could play on a wing reasonably reguarly, but I would be very disappointed if they just did not let him do his own thing mainly on the forward line.
  15. Whilst the young ladies would think he is hot, refer http://rangesfc.matchvision.com.au/player/ben_griffiths,I think he will make a great Full forward. Dean Bailley has watched two young footballers individually up to finals- Scully and Ben Griffiths. With Paul Wheatley coaching Griffiths and others this year, we have a great insight on him. The pressure surely will be on him this week in the prelims. I know in his last game where he kicked 4 goals, they were impressed. He kicked 5 goals in one of the Vic.Metro team games.Key forward Ben Griffiths starred with five goals – the most for the match –was a statement hat came out of the match versus NSW,was the report .He was injured for basically the rest of the championship. But at least we could wish him a happy birthday
  16. I think it depends on how he goes over pre season. If he can develop a motor I think he will make a great winger. Great defencing skills. I know that Neita felt he would/will make a great forward. He told me so.He felt he could replace himat full forward.
  17. Just been going through the talls whom are playing this weekends prelims in the TAC(UNDER 18'S)Cup and noticed Ben's birthday is tomorrow(17/09/1991.WOW-when this list was prepared back at the start of the season he was 197,100kls .And he seems like he has grown looking at him upclose but slimed down slightly.. Got a build like David Neitz. How good would that be,if he turned out like him? We need a big bodied player who is a great kick, prepared to throw his weight around and bring in our small forwards such as, Jetta, Maric, Wona etc.. Has overcome major injuries whilst growing, knee and ankles but has now overcome theseand will only improve. Our next Roughead only bigger and better? Been playing as a low FF so far in the finals whilst playing mainly at CHF behind Luke McDonald during the year, the top goalkicker in the comp who is currently injured.
  18. did what you asked me to do-under the topic expectations. enjoyVery much your comments-jayceebee

  19. What do others think?????,In particular Dappa Dan
  20. agree totally. At this stage Trengrove is far in front. Martin a smokie though.Butcher out of the question for mine
  21. Great to see the club signing up the young ones. I think he, given that he has not had a proper pre season as yet, can add both as a small forward or a run in the centre as well. High potential
  22. That does not mean we have to take him either.
  23. High tower- that is correct 15 goals in the last 2 weeks, play a game for Coburg 2nds this year. He absolutely dominated and kicked 5 goals. Looked great,He then ,to me showed outstanding promise, quite mobile and very impressive in the air. .' Very strong type, whom is really good beneath his knees.Ithink will make it as a tall forward, either CHF or FF. Had Jason McCarthy last Sunday speak to him and James Lawson, telling them where to position there bodies. Therefore, he must also see something in these blokes.I saw Adam Goodes kick many goals in an under 18 Grand final. He ended getting picked up by the Swans- the No. 43 pick in the 1997 AFL Draft, Sydney's third round draft pick. I rate him as good as him at this time in his career. No 18 pick for MFC would do me very nicely.
  24. With all the hard work the footy department has gone through, the administration getting the club back on a solid footing, I question whether it would be the right move in taking this bloke on. Look at Robert Warnock who had an injury and OFFERED himself around and we were upset he didn't come to us. GOOD LUCK TO CARLTONWe would have lost a year's salary on this bloke for nothing. Burgoyne could be similar. We also got rid of Robbo whom at 30 seemed to be too old. This guy turns 27 soon and wants 500k a year. Surely we should develop our own and bring up the team as one rather than bring in a centre marquee player at this time. This also could cause problems within especially with the young ones whom may miss out getting a game .Lastly, every tine we have played Port over the last few years we have won. I do not rate this bloke as highly as many others do. I say good luck to Hawthorn if they pick him up two.He definately is no Judd,
  25. As Tim Harrington said on Hutch's show last Sunday week, they try to pick a 10 year player with there first picks. So do not expect upstart's straight away. I am not even sure that Scully is a walk up start. He may even get leather poisoning between now and the rest of the under 18' finals or even the dreaded OP due to the amount of ball he gets and his gut busting running. However, I do not think so, but the above is realistic.Look at Sylvia whom really only had fhis first full pre season last year. Also, do not forget that Blease, who I have got a real concern, re his lack of weight and fragile body. He & Watts need HUGE pre seasons, and as I have stated several times before they will be dramatically behind others due to exams mid to late November which will be a month or so behind the development of our others whom start again on the 12th October. Also I have concerns for our other draft picks in this years draft due to again the lack of pre training. We saw this with some of our other draftees from last year,in particular-Strauss.Even look at McNamara whom has not had a proper pre train since he joined the club. There are alot of if's at the moment, so I say do not expect two much or you may be very disappointed. Iactually think we can make or nearly make the 8 next year ,IF, the if's come off. What do others think? The above, is another reason, if Dangerfield is available we should look at him.A young proven champion to be. Go Dees
