  1. agree totally. At this stage Trengrove is far in front. Martin a smokie though.Butcher out of the question for mine
  2. Great to see the club signing up the young ones. I think he, given that he has not had a proper pre season as yet, can add both as a small forward or a run in the centre as well. High potential
  3. High tower- that is correct 15 goals in the last 2 weeks, play a game for Coburg 2nds this year. He absolutely dominated and kicked 5 goals. Looked great,He then ,to me showed outstanding promise, quite mobile and very impressive in the air. .' Very strong type, whom is really good beneath his knees.Ithink will make it as a tall forward, either CHF or FF. Had Jason McCarthy last Sunday speak to him and James Lawson, telling them where to position there bodies. Therefore, he must also see something in these blokes.I saw Adam Goodes kick many goals in an under 18 Grand final. He ended getting picked up by the Swans- the No. 43 pick in the 1997 AFL Draft, Sydney's third round draft pick. I rate him as good as him at this time in his career. No 18 pick for MFC would do me very nicely.
  4. With all the hard work the footy department has gone through, the administration getting the club back on a solid footing, I question whether it would be the right move in taking this bloke on. Look at Robert Warnock who had an injury and OFFERED himself around and we were upset he didn't come to us. GOOD LUCK TO CARLTONWe would have lost a year's salary on this bloke for nothing. Burgoyne could be similar. We also got rid of Robbo whom at 30 seemed to be too old. This guy turns 27 soon and wants 500k a year. Surely we should develop our own and bring up the team as one rather than bring in a centre marquee player at this time. This also could cause problems within especially with the young ones whom may miss out getting a game .Lastly, every tine we have played Port over the last few years we have won. I do not rate this bloke as highly as many others do. I say good luck to Hawthorn if they pick him up two.He definately is no Judd,
  5. As Tim Harrington said on Hutch's show last Sunday week, they try to pick a 10 year player with there first picks. So do not expect upstart's straight away. I am not even sure that Scully is a walk up start. He may even get leather poisoning between now and the rest of the under 18' finals or even the dreaded OP due to the amount of ball he gets and his gut busting running. However, I do not think so, but the above is realistic.Look at Sylvia whom really only had fhis first full pre season last year. Also, do not forget that Blease, who I have got a real concern, re his lack of weight and fragile body. He & Watts need HUGE pre seasons, and as I have stated several times before they will be dramatically behind others due to exams mid to late November which will be a month or so behind the development of our others whom start again on the 12th October. Also I have concerns for our other draft picks in this years draft due to again the lack of pre training. We saw this with some of our other draftees from last year,in particular-Strauss.Even look at McNamara whom has not had a proper pre train since he joined the club. There are alot of if's at the moment, so I say do not expect two much or you may be very disappointed. Iactually think we can make or nearly make the 8 next year ,IF, the if's come off. What do others think? The above, is another reason, if Dangerfield is available we should look at him.A young proven champion to be. Go Dees
  6. I understand he kicked two goals and was one of the best in a losing side won by Central Districts: Central 1.4.10 4.4.28 6.8.44 11.9.75 Sturt 2.3.15 5.535 6.8.44 10.9.69 Scorers Central Havelberg 3.0 Sansbury C Gowans 2.0 Schell 1.2 Giles J Gowans Westhoff 1.0 Nason 0.3 Dutschke 0.2 O'Hara 0.1 rushed 0.1 Sturt Trengove Sharples 2.0 Vassal 1.2 Gum Thurstans Johncock 1.1 Evans Sheedy 1.0 Payne 0.1 rushed 0.3 Best Central Mackenzie Thomas J Gowans Spurr O'Sullivan Sansbury C Gowans Sturt Sheedy Crane Trengove Jaensch Vassal Coad Injuries Central Callinan (hamstring) withdrew from selected side Hayes withdrew from selected side Sturt Chambers (knee) withdrew from selected side. 7. Looking at the current draft crop and examining our developing list, I believe we need to gain a top class rover-Scully, a top class ruck rover type- Trengove type or Morabito. Furthermore, a fast wingman- Blease, a ruckman-this will depend on the performance of Meeson and Spencer in 2010-however, I feel we could easily buy a marque ruckman in late 2010 for 2011 if needed. I do however see another major requirement being a versatile tall, preferably a forward.Ben Griffiths or Temel would be ideal. Apart from these, I feel if we only have, say four picks for this draft ,this will not disappoint me. What are your thoughts, any other major weaknesses do you see?
  8. Dappa Dan- I WAS ONLY TRYING TO SUPPORT YOUR VIEW
  9. Nick Smith is longtime gone-we are talking current players
  10. Pardon the pun but I think Dangerfield could turn out a freak. He shows the maturity of a 5 year player. WOW- when he gets fit with the stamina to run out 120 minutes of football as a true midfielder. He will become a freak in my opinion. I would have him as our Selection 2. An already proven performer with great upside against an unproven.
  11. What about Brent Maloney,I think he was originally picked as No.4 -2002 draft and then swapped for Jolly as our 15th pick,re the Brad Ottens affair in 2004.
  12. Great article with a nostalgia in the veins. Whispering Jack & George on the Outer. Many thanks for your reports. They have kept me riveted for many years now.
  13. And WOW is he a very good footballer- I rate him as good as Scully was 12 months ago- but very likely to go to Gold Coast
  14. After watching this guy play over the last two weeks- Yes I agree-we definately should look at picking him up .Not only he has a body that can really be developed. He is tall, great penetrating straight kick ,great under th knees and does one thing that John Butcher doesn't seem to do- try his guts out. Hope he can keep his great for going for another two weeks as he has been the matchwinner in the last two.
  15. After watching Gippsland Power go down to Calder Cannons today,I've come to the the conclusion that Butcher will not get drafted in the top 20 let alone No2. The age group seems to have caught up with him now. This is the thoughts of several Gippsland Power followers. He has played pathetically in last two weeks of the finals add to this is his poor performance in the championships and I've reached a conclusion stick to Newton well ahead of Butcher. I would take at least 4 other talls in front of him- Talia, Griffiths, Temel who played well today top of his 8 goals last week and Panos.I think Vardy would also be a better pick up than Butcher. Anyone else whom watched Butcher over the last 6 months surely would agree with me.
  16. Thanks Hannibal for putting me right- Gee it must be a very, very weak draft.Dermie must have Hawthorn's view and that is why they are chasing any legs out of contract. Thank God for McMahon and our experiementing and we have two of those picks. Of to the TAC finals to llok at the current players left-however, on the info above none will be picked up by us. Want to have a look at Carlisle. He didn't do so well last week.
  17. I heard him on SEN late this morning talking about the draft- the radio had bad reception was dropping in and out, but I thought he said that the draft was strong till the 8th pick then drops away. Did anyone else here the interview and can confirm or deny please
  18. I also watched the games and taped the TAC show hosted by Hutchie. I thought your report, like normal, was accurate and interesting. I agree totally re The Protege tag as well as your point of a true rover. A bit like Cable,I thought. I also, however, feel his long kicking needs work. But overall, he'll do me as No1. Thanks Whispering Jack
  19. Far comment regarding Bartram- I think Bartram has good upside- do not forget the year before he came off a knee injury. However, accept your point re Maloney, but as my interchange shows- many could take Bartram's place.
  20. Blease was seen doing laps at Junction Oval last week with some of the injured lads. It is a real pity that we could not get the club- Ryan Phelan to give us an update on all the major injuries from this year- Blease, Garland, Wona ETC. GeeI do hope Blease does not have complications. Hope he has grown from it.
  21. I agree with the majority of you- there is no need to chase him hard. Actually, when you look at our current list, one asks-Do we really need him.? With development, there are several young ones coming on along with McLean, Sylvia, Maloney,McDonald,Bruce,Davey etc.. We have Buckley, Blease, Strauss, Maric, Bennell,Jetta and if we remember Bailey was going to give Wonaeamirri a go in the guts as well.Along with the above, gee ,if we get Scully & possibly Trengrove/Morabito, how many can we play. Are we best to develop what we got in 2010,and trade next year or beyond. I feel we need an experienced tall forward to bring it on. In seeing the skills of Blease and Strauss last year along with at least Scully, this year, we are going to have a bumper mix in the guts.

  23. I know I say on behalf of most posters a sincere thanks for all your work in relaying reports & information to us all during he season. We look forward to your prompt reports next year as I think we will a very strong team and we will be eager to find out how things go.
  24. Surly it depends on alot of factors. Some may say Chook (Brock McLean) is HOT, proven behind the wheel, proven with his gloves. Seaks like Muhamid Ali. Somtimes it is not phsical- it can be adventurous. At least another slant on your topic to discuss.
