Retro gear
I think it was a bit busy, but could've easily been neatened up. Still think it's the best though, but it's a personal taste thing.

Probably in the minority, but I still love the Schwab-designed "shield" logo the most of all the above.

In the compensation formula, how much does a player's contract have to be worth to be deemed a 1st round compo pick? Let's not forget we got a 1st round pick for Frawley - his contract was around the $450k mark. The avg AFL salary is $371k - not exactly "poo-change" either. With the cap at some $12m+, $500k a season isn't a lot for a middle tier player. We have no idea how much each player is on, and by "we", I mean the media too. But sure, use their "reports" to help your argument if you wish, I just won't give your side any credit if you do.

I would be horribly surprised if they paid overs for any of the three they brought in. Geelong (Motlop) and Brisbane (Rockliffe) wanted both players gone, and we were the same, so much so that we are still paying part of his contract. You've allowed yourself to believe what you read in the many articles about the Power's recruiting/trade "bonanza" at the end of last season. They picked up 3 players that weren't wanted by their original club because of a range of issues, and if you want to add Trengove (who I sincerely hope gets to play senior footy), it was a cheap risk that hasn't made them any better.

You complain about Joel's skills, then whinge because we didn't pick up Dylan Grimes instead? Wow.

As long as Joel's not being caught out spending company dollars on the 3Ps (porn, punt and prostitutes).

No White for MFC Clash Jumpers for Season 2018
Pretty sure someone was posting here a few weeks ago claiming that our clash jumper won't be white. Didn't give it away, but I got the feeling it would be a red jumper with a blue v (opposite to our traditional strip). Can't remember who is was, but I think they post here a bit.

Jack Trengove signed by Port Adelaide as a Delisted Free Agent
And that's why I was content with what we paid for Lever. We are three years away from needing to worry about youth coming through.

List Analysis Potential v Reality
As a forward, Tom Mc hasn't reached his potential yet. He has shown glimpses of "something", is it potential or just cameos? I think potential. Harmes has reached his ceiling in my opinion. ANB, I think he may be the same. I also think Hannan, even though he has been in the system for jus 12 months, I'm not sure how much there is left. (Nb. This isn't necessarily a criticism of any of these players, because as it stands, they are more than serviceable "best 22", so it will take improvement from those lower than them to replace them, which is a good situation to be in). I'm 12 months out from knowing about Stretch and JKH. I think they have potential, but could end up being depth. Stretch's attitude will at least give him the best possible chance to succeed. I have concerns about Kent, Wagner and Weed.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Let's hope we don't need contingencies then!!!

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Contingency planning more than anything, AF. TMc as moved forward in 2017 because of circumstances, taking our best key defender out of his preferred position. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We've tried Frost forward with minimal success at best. OMc is suited down back. Thoughts were that depending on match-ups, injuries, form and other circumstances, I could easily see Lever playing that swing role, adding further value to his worth. By no means am I proposing he starts full forward, Rd 1 2018.

While it was said mostly TIC, I do think that style of defensive structure will further highlight Lever's strengths. Neita also used to dominate at CHB. Went on to become our greatest goal kicker. I actually don't see T McDonald failing as a forward. He's a very disciplined player, and I would expect a summer with the forward group will see him grow in to that line very well. Our spine is looking very, very strong.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
The diamond defence will make Lever a Brownlow favourite. Not sure if it's been raised in this thread (I haven't read this thread at all), but is there a potential of Lever floating forward? While I'm not big on taking a player out of a position that they are dominating in, just wondered what peoples thoughts are on this (similar to what Geelong have tried with Harry Taylor).

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Their dignity, as well as any success in the period of time starting from 2018 onwards. I shouldn't say that, he fell in to their laps, but the rest of their trading strategy in recent years will cripple them for a long time. Excellent.

Who will be the next Dees Brownlow Winner
Didn't hurt Geelong when Ablett and Bartel won theirs. When I read the question in the thread title, I immediately thought the Oliver is by far and away our best chance, but he'd need to start washing the umpires cars as I don't think he's their favourite player. Then I realised Dustin Martin wasn't really well liked, but he nearly pinched one last year and will likely win it this year. So with that in mind, Oliver could win one in 3-5 years.

Obviously knowing what we know now, I would've been shattered if we didn't take Oliver, as I think he could be something that we haven't had for many, many decades. But with that said, I wouldn't be upset if Mills had've landed with us. Mills, Oliver and Parish are all very, very good players. Clearly Oliver is the best of the 3, but the other 2 have definitely justified their first round selection.

If Clarry has to do 2 or 3 "give and go's" in one passage to make more space for himself and/or his teammate, then that's fine by me. It's better than bombing it long under pressure, just to get his "kicks" stat up to impress some supporters. Rarely do any of his offloads, either by hand or foot, put his mate under pressure. It's a skill that stands out, mainly because not many players in our team, or in the league for that matter, possess it.

Why anyone in this thread thinks they have a better idea than Clarry on how Clarry should dispose of it is beyond me. The kid is a one in a million. He knows what the best disposal method is for each situation, and we have no bloody idea. That's the best part of having a player like this guy. We just get to sit back and think "wow, that's how the good players play". It's what makes them good.

Still $67 for the Brownlow, equal with Viney. The smart punters would have big dollars on it, knowing that it's highly likely those odds will drop significantly before the end of the year. I don't think he will win the Brownlow, but that old "cash out" feature will make people a lot of money. Similar to that of Gawn last year.
