Get on "The Gys" for 2011 me thinks!
-
Scully 2nd, JT 4th. Great work boys!

HT - WYL was the one that made the call of the top 150, but I was one of a minimal few that was of a similar opinion (although I didn't agree with the top 150 call). I was very vocal about my opinion of where our players were at pre season 2010, and HG and I had a variety of discussions about this. I have no doubt HG will try and say that his post wasn't aimed at me, but when he claims "some people", he is pretty much including me as there weren't many of us on that side of the debate. Edit - spelling.

You're telling me!!! LOL

Haha, I swear when I first read that article that it said about Pavlich not wanting to discuss his contract with the Power. It has now been changed to the Dockers, but probably made me look like a complete tool! 110% certain it stated Power not Dockers.
-
My point was that it was a cr@p article, that had no substance behind it, only speculation. And to make it worse he had Pavlich playing for Port, not the Dockers!
-
You can't take that article seriously Demon Hill, he is guessing just as much as everyone else. It's a cr@p article - talks about Pav not wanting to discuss his contract with the Power???!!! However, I think it will be the Krakouer signing too.

Well, this is off their website (via their Twitter section); "1st uncontracted player announcement 2morrow morning! Visit GC SUNS website at 10:55am to watch the announcement LIVE..." May have some legs regarding Cam, will have to listen at 10:55 I guess. I'm going to have a shower now as I feel filthy dirty after looking at their website.

I'm a believer that he didn't have one year left in him. He's no Robert Harvey or Michael Tuck, he was slowing down toward the end of the season, and the amount of time it took him to get over his injuries was alarming. Let's face it, how many more weeks was Riewoldt out for with his hammy that he had surgery on, compared to Junior who "only" tore it? The best and most qualified people to know if he has/had one more year left in him are the Football Dept. They have made minimal errors of judgement in the past 3 years, so I put 100% trust in them. The other thing with Junior playing on in 2011 (especially at Melbourne) would be that he would put our development back 1 year. While that seems harsh considering he was only taking up one spot on list, what it does mean is that Jordie gets promoted off the rookie list, allowing us to replace him on the rookie list. No-one in here would have wanted to see Jnr play a bulk amount of his games at Casey, so the best decision was made. As someone said earlier, he is 34, no team will pick him up.

HG, you know that those comments were pre-2010 season, so don't start that cr@p with me. It's quite easy for you to sit back now and make that comment after we have seen the 3 nominated players improve significantly over the past season. Good work genius.

B&F, Most Improved, Best First Year Player
The Chazz replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
Keith 'Bluey' Truscott - Best & Fairest - Brad Green Sid Anderson - 2nd Best & Fairest - James Frawley Ron Barassi Snr - 3rd Best & Fairest - Mark Jamar Ivor Warne-Smith - 4th Best & Fairest - Aaron Davey Dick Taylor - 5th Best & Fairest - Cameron Bruce Norm Smith - Coaches Award - Nathan Jones Ron Barassi Jnr - Leadership Award - Brad Green Harold Ball - Best First Year Player - Tom Scully Ian Ridley - Club Ambassador - Brent Moloney Picked Jones for Coach's award as I felt he could potentially see the writing on the wall playing the role he has, then either through putting his hand up or being asked by the FD, became more of a tagger and was asked to play on some tough opponents, most times being able to walk off with his head held high. -
What Scully does is puts the ball in a position where his teammates should run in to and they will get hit on the [censored] with the ball. The only problem with this at the moment is that the blokes around him aren't as quick minded as Scull, therefore don't run to the right spots. When they do, it blows the game wide open. This is no criticism to our other players, but as Scully grows up, and they are a part of that, he will teach them how to play. Again, the comparison with Judd has got to be made. Trengove has shown more in his firt year than what a lot of the best midfielders did in their first yeras (eg Ablett). When these 2 have played 3+ years with each other, Trengove will be a superstar, and we will have a handful of top midfielders (Grimes, Tapscott, Blease, Gysberts) that will naturally develop from playing with some of the best. As Geddy stated, Scully will be a once in a generation player, but I'm happy with Trengove being that next level down!

there are goals kicked from the boundary like what Milne does most games, like the guy from Port last week against us, etc etc, but the goal Franklin kicked from the boundary was different to them. It was one of the greatest goals I have ever seen. Dunn's was up there, LJ's soccer goal is up there too, but Buddy's goal deserves to be goal of the year, with his other goal that night a distant 2nd, then daylight between it and the rest (Dunn, LJ, Rioli, and I'd even throw Bate/Petterd team goal in there for equal third). Goal of the Year is given to just that, the goal of the year. Some years it will be a freakish one, some years it will be quality like nothing seen before. The year that the Wiz won it - his wasn't freakish, it was class, same when Woewodin won it

Who is Watts keeping out if he were to be playing in the seniors? Dunn is NOT a CHF, he is a defensive HFF. Was interesting to see yesterday's game for Watts. A couple of months ago I was calling for him to start to do more ruck work to get involved and to get some body on body in to his game, I got shot down severely, and what do you know, I saw Jack taking a few ruck contests in the forward line. That said, if he can introduce that in to his game, and if Fitzpatrick can have a good preseason in the gym, I think it could potentially make PJ redundant. I'm not suggesting Watts will be our number 2 ruckman, but it is nice to have those options, and will allow us to pick another running player. It worked OK for Hawkins at Geelong, and I think Watts is a hell of a lot better than him.
-
Jordie Mc will be in the starting 22 if not 18 (could have him in the guts). If he wasn't, do you think they would have tapped Junior on the shoulder this year? Junior retired so that they can promote McKenzie, pretty simple really. Agree that Dunn is a starting 18 on the HFF, Watts is a starting CHF. While it's impossible to pick 3 guys that haven't played a senior match in our best 22, I would think that Tapscott, Blease and Fitzpatrick will be close to the first 22 come 2011. Looking at the list, it is getting harder and harder to pick our best 22. Casey will have a strong 2011 as there will be some handy MFC listed players running around for them. One thing that we should be prepared for; while we had a much-improved 2010 (compared to the last 2 years), and that every year we should expect to make finals, I'm not too optomistic about September action next year. No doubt if we don't make the finals next year all the Bailey bashers will be calling for his blood again, but I will be one of a minimal few that will still be happy with our situation should finals not be reached next year.
-
Jack trengove will be a very, very good player for Melbourne for a number of years. He is a kid in his first AFL season. What he brings to the MFC is that cool composure with the ability to execute. he also brings in a level of hardness that will continue to grow over the coming years as he develops his body. He is not over the top in his agression (opposite to Dustin Martin), but has that bit of mongrel about him that opposition teams are mindful of. You just need to look at him at the stoppages or at the fist sign of any pushing and shoving, he loves it. I think JT will be our version of Luke Hodge, and strongly believe he will be every bit as good as Hodge.
-
Was very frustrated with Bruce's last quarter. When the game was there to be won, he made 3 or 4 mistakes that made it easier for the Roos. A player of his experience should not have made the errors that he did, and therefore, I believe he was a contributing factor in us losing that game. I also think that Junior played the game of a retiring great. He showed in patches that he still has class, but for a majority of the game he was always chasing, looked slow, and gave away silly free kicks that hurt us at times. The Club's timing with him is 100% on the money.

M Le Cras?
-
1. The fact that he would cost us an arm and a leg and hasn't proven enough to warrant a large price tag 2. Adelaide wont want to get rid of him, especially with all their retirements 3. He hasn't indicated that he wants to leave Adelaide You can like him as much as you want, but he will be wearing an Adelaide jumper next year while you are doing so.
-
I probably used an incorrect word when I said "honoured". Maybe a more suitable word would be "intrigued". That said, Ben looked pretty stoked to be hanging around such figures, so maybe he did feel honured to be involved in that group. Edit - the last sentence.
-
Rhino, tell me we're not going to promote Spencer. I can suffer 1 more year of him on the RL, but not a permanent spot.
-
I think we also picked Brent Grgic because of his surname. Ilija was a handy player in his days (albeit 87 of them!).
-
Why would he leave Adelaide? I hear Ablett is out of contract at the end of the year, Melbourne would be stoooooooooopid not to make him an offer.
-
No thanks - not in a million years.
