I too would have loved Wines, but also think Toumpas will be a star of the future. We could have got Wines and Toumpas and not got Hogan and Barry if we wanted too. I think long term we made the right decision. At the next dratt we will again pick up the best , young midfielder on offer, and hopefully a couple more established mids. I know we all hate to wait as we are in so much pain, but with Hogan and a few more quality mids next year will see some results our way. Toumpas and Barry will also be a year older and have spent more time in the Gym, so we will start to see the midfield we crave.

Yes we can and we will. We have just played 3 pretty red hot teams, and have learned alot in those three games. Time to turn it on for four quarters. Big Maxy will lead the revival.

Wines will win the rising star,we missed out on a chance to build an amazing engine room, with Wines and Viney. Love Jimmy, but he could turn out to be another Watts.....great skills but.

Its goingto be another tough year, but i think we will improve as the year goes on. Next year we will have a forward line of Clark Hogan and Dawes. Hopefully we will get another couple of mids. Trengove ,Tapscott,Viney,M Jones,Kent, Evans,Toumpas,Blease,Watts,a year older and wiser. We will get there.

If you go back to the Wines thread youll see i was a strong advocate for Wines, simply because we lack so much in the area of centre clearances. I do think Toumpas will be a great player though, but the situation seems fairly critical, and extra grunt in the middle is still exactly what we need. We went down the path of skinny skilled players before , with the likes of Watts ,gysberts,Morton etc.. And it never works for us...why? Because we cant get the bloody ball to them yet , thats why. Fix the engine first , and the machine will start to purr.

Out : Sellar, Jamar, Jetta,Garland,Byrnes In: Gawn,Watts,Kent,Strauss,Blease If Mckenzie s fit then rest Toumpas as well.

Priddis is exactly the type of player we need. We need that quick , smart, second and third effort type.

We just didn't have enough Beards. Dropping Watts and Gillies meant we were two beards short. They had Josh Kennedy whose beard helped him to a masterful display, and a few other blokes who I cant name, because i couldn't recognise them with all that facial hair.

Unfortunately a big part ofthe problem is that the new established recruits are giving us nothing. Dawes,Rodan,Byrnes,Pederson ,Gillies. Would have loved to have kept Ricky, but thats just spilt milk now. More poor recruiting decisions, but what it shows is its better to draft a top performer in a feeder league, like M jones, Kent ,Terlich etc., than to recruit old players whos careers are finished, or were never good enough in the first place.

I actually saw a future out there today.

Just have to keep turning them over until we get the right combination. Thought Jetta was disappointing today. Other ins Bail ,Tapscott and Evans were good. Terlich and M. Jones are keepers. Best game ive seen Trenners play in a while. Sellar and Jamar have had enough chances. Gotta bring in Gawn, Kent and Strauss next week. We are just not good enough at the moment, but it will turn around, unfortunately i think we need another pre season. We will win next week. Even in local leagues,teams get beaten by 100 points plus every week, why? Its because they simply ain't got the cattle. Josh Mahoney said to me on friday, we are still 2 or three top midfielders short, of most other sides in the comp. This will be our main priority in the off season, and hope to God we land a big fish like Thomas.

You have to give it time , because we are simply not good enough. Nothing to do with the coach, we just need time to develop some stars, especially in the midfield.

Josh Mahoney said to me that Gawn and Kent were in the mix but felt they needed one more week to overcome illness and injury, as its a big step. He indicated that both were seriously in the teams long term plans, and will be in sooner rather than later.

The thing about Mclardy is that he was endorsed by Jimmy. Thats good enough for me.
