  1. 3 goals in a minute to start the avalanche too 100-7 after trailing by 19 halfway through the 3rd. I can't imagine an onslaught like that being repeated, it was like the 84 Bombers on steroids
  2. Rhett Bartlett (son of Kevin) unearthed the full broadcast of the Toby Charlton/Norm Smith interview. He said he understands the full FTA (channel 7/9?) broadcast of quarters 3 and 4 of this GF exist and he has been trying for years to get his hands on it. Would be amazing if that came to light, this footage is great but nowhere near the same as the footage available for the 1961, 1962 and 1965 GFs. Some of the FTA footage has been shown and is in YouTube (extended highlights are on the MFC history DVD) but it is still just snippets.
  3. And the Goschs park triangle
  4. It was part of the 2020-23 strategic plan to commence construction on new facilities within the MCG precinct by 2023.
  5. Well they just bought themselves another 9 months with this press release, right?
  6. I don't necessarily disagree with you, the issue is replacing that revenue. Get rid of pokies, fine, but what will happen down the track when we have our hands out for AFL dollars again? In the meantime will we fall further behind the other clubs who still have pokies cash rolling in? Will we also excuse ourselves from other income received via sponsorship from gambling companies? Will the AFL cancel their sponsorships and "joint partnerships" with gambling companies or companies that rely on that income (ie broadcasters)? We shot ourselves in the foot and now face a giant hole in our income.
  7. It was a stupid business decision, cost us millions and pokies are still rampant. The pokies didn't disappear, the dollars just went elsewhere. Meanwhile AFL and clubs happy to cosy up to gambling companies. I hate the pokies but while they exist I'd rather the money go to the MFC than to Woolworths and Coles.
  8. I seriously doubt that's the case. If he were in line for the B&F and hadn't had the recent controversies you think he wouldn't attend?
  9. How is it an advantage? A proper elite training facility at Caulfield should negate the need for a second one.

Have you seen Jayden Daniels attempts at sliding? Next Tua waiting to happen.

  12. We should never have gotten rid of the pokies.
  13. What concrete plans?
  14. Is it good news or is it chicken feed to appease the masses? They said we should have an outcome on the business case by mid-2025, let's see what they have to tell us come next June.
  15. AFLW, VFL and VFLW can be based at Casey, AFL should get out of their as quick as possible
  16. If we end up with elite training facilities at Caulfield and can [censored] Casey off for good would be even better
  17. Maybe we should change the constitution then. I have an issue with the board "replenishing itself" which I take to mean the old boys club running things without any sense of accountability. That's what got us into the [censored] pre-2013 and it's what has got us back into the [censored] now.
  18. I follow a member based club, with that entails a member elected board. Otherwise we may as well just become privately owned or a franchise operated by the AFL.
  19. Yes but Papley didn't seek a trade again 12 months later. My feeling is Petracca is likely to at this stage but a lot can change in 12 months. If he does I don't think we'll hold him to his contract.
  20. All 3 preferably
  21. It wouldn't, if a player wants out they make sure their manager can tee up a trade with another club and then go to their current club and for ally request the trade, nominating their preferred club. Clubs have sometimes held players to their contract (Papley, Gibbs, Kelly) but more often than not the player gets their way (Gibbs and Kelly did eventually anyway).
  22. A candidate statement doesn't allow issues to be discussed/challenged etc If you want member elected boards it has to be open, I rarely vote in these things because I wouldn't know one candidate from another. The more information the better.
  23. How do the members know what they're voting for if candidates can't publicly discuss their platform?
  24. Nice in theory but that's not how it works. If he wants out and nominates his preferred destination he will get there and we will just suck it up. His manager will help facilitate the trade by making sure the club he nominates has the capital to send us, which is why it's been put on ice for 12 months ,- Collingwood/Carlton don't have the capital now but they may in 12 months.
