Is your support of the MFC unconditional ?
Dr. Gonzo replied to Hannibal's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm the opposite. I said to m brother the other day that the worst thing about how disgraceful we have been over the last 6 years is that footy has never been better yet we are forced to watch mediocre rubbish week after week. I seriously considered going to see the Tigers/Pies game this week instead of ours as I was offered a free seat. I'll stick fat with the club and go on Sunday but it is so disappointing seeing the quality of footy going on and having to endure crap games where we get flogged and demonstrate no idea about the modern game in front of crap crowds every week for the last 6 years. Meanwhile Geelong, Hawthorn, Collingwood, Sydney and now even Essendon, Carlton, Richmond, North etc fans get to witness enthralling contests almost every week. -
I as well - I think he is a good man with good intentions who was never meant to lead the club and is now in over his head. After the decision to sack Schwab I thought He deserved some time but after viewing his performance in that press conference I thought it was only a matter of when not if. With this new scandal erupting and the litany of disasters under this administration he surely would have to go very very soon. Freeman was allegedly brought in as a replacement for later in the year it seems he'll be filling those shoes sooner rather than later.

The other teams from other codes failed to do heir due diligence also - but I don't support them I support the MFC so couldn't give a stuff about that.
-
I disagree, they are the leadership of the club and are responsible for the organisational culture. They are not the only ones who contribute to it but they are the key ones who can influence it especially through the appointments and decisions they make. Even if this were not the case, I have detailed other reasons on why they are culpable in the issues you referred to.

Wow, we really have to explain this all again? The Admin/Board of the club sets the culture & standards for the entire place. The rift between them and the FD and allowing Schwab to micro-manage the FD, failing to listen to the senior players when they were specifically asked TWICE to raise their issues contributed to 186. Failing to do their due diligence on EW wouldn't have led them to see Polis for the racist [censored] he is but would have led them to see it was unlikely he would ever be able to pay up and had trouble running a successful business that kept it's nose clean (and I don't give a stuff about Victory, Storm, MCG or whoever else he may have sponsored, I don't follow them I follow the MFC). (I'd still like to know how Polis' FB page became public though and why it was released when it was, no-one's explained that as yet and none of the "journo's" have revealed where their tip-off came from).

Hahahaha spin spin spin

You seriously can't see the difference between coming clean publicly and inviting an investigation into the club and denying any links and trying to sweep it under the carpet? The club denied it with half-truths yet the players knew what had gone on and knew sooner or later they could be under investigation similar to Essendon - the club could deny and hide it from the AFL, media and supporters but not the players.
-
Yep, spamming every topic critical of the admin just like prior to Schwab's sacking - how'd that one work out for you?
-
Again, you've got NFI. Not even worth trying to explain because people like you just don't get it. Keep up your spamming every thread though if you think its gonna make a difference (hint: it won't). You're like the preacher yelling and banging on the pulpit to compensate for the complete hollowness of his words.

NFI

Anyone with an understanding of modern pro sports understands that the Admin side of the club do much more than "balance the books" - they set the culture and leadership of the entire club.
-
Haha you must be a lawyer, yes?
-
Deer antler spray?
-
Hiding it from Gutnick and not reporting to the AFL to be specific.
-
History repeating? Hey WJ what did Gutnick sack Schwab for again?
-
Thats the reason we let Daff and the other guy walk? WTF is wrong with this club?
-
Bit of a long bow to draw but could this be affecting the players performance? Knowing this Sword of Damocles is hanging over their heads ready to drop after seeing whats happened at Essendon could have a bearing on their mindset. I dunno probably just hoping more than anything...
-
Why did Daff leave again???
-
Yep - and it also depends on how they're administered from what I can gather.
-
Isn't it meant to enhance performance?
-
Being better is one thing. Every team being 100 points better is another.
-
Even then our spread and gut running to create options was non existent. The only frustrating part is nothing has changed whatsoever.

I tend to agree and not just for the reasons you've outlined. Remember another reason we went and got Byrnes/Rodan is that we've been screaming out for a crumbing forward for a while now so it is reasonable to think one of them could find a spot in the team especially considering Byrnes form in the latter part of the last VFL season. I was happy to let Martin go but only because we made the monumental stuff up of retaining Jamar for 3 years. One of them had to go so it was Martin by default but although he has plenty of faults he would be a hundred times better than Jamar will be over the next 3 years.
