  1. But when the modern game's ball movement relies entirely on moving the ball quickly, you need explosive defenders to either cover the zone or an opponent on a lead.
  2. They may well go with Turner at CHB and Smith to sub.
  3. Which is why having spent half a season without him, our midfield will cope. And we have to be able to generate an advantage elsewhere due to that tag. Clarry plays the defensive mid for example. He is already our best tackler.
  4. Given the ins, I'd like Turner to get a go for Tomlinson, but I can't see a way that happens. So TMac in, Laurie to sub, if no TMac, then Turner to CHB and Fritta and Smith to rotate between Laurie's high half forward position and playing deeper. I think this is what I'll go with. McVee May Bowey Salem Smith Lever Langdon Oliver Hunter Petracca TMac Fritta Kozzy JVR ANB Gawn Viney Gus Rivers Sparrow Chandler Melksham Laurie
  5. I think they're also using the forward half to rest/take Trac out of the bang and crash of midfield for a few weeks, and I'd expect him to play heavy midfield minutes in finals.
  6. I'd rather Goody have played a straight bat, because it potentially brings external focus onto Clarry now. If Goody straight bats it, they have nothing to run with. It's done now though.
  7. Goody was pretty clear we won't be resting players and yet it's being touted constantly here. We'll see, I guess.
  8. Haha, he does it again. You're like clockwork mate. It's always fun.
  9. There's always one. Well done, Cranks. 12 months is a long time in footy. So is 36 months, and over the last 36 months, we've finished top 4 three times. There are always those that need something to complain about.
  10. I'd rather us go Rozee or Butters, but I understand we're interested. Depends what we give up.
  11. I want North winning and us getting pick 5. Won't happen though.
  12. Clearly being pushed by him. On the plus side, it frees up some cap space to go after someone like Naughton who we were allegedly after last year. We'll have the picks to satisfy as well...
  13. Oh well, Melksham has someone to play on now. 😄
  14. Yep, incredible. From a two game ban to nothing. The tribunal system is broken, as is McAdam's cheekbone. The AFL is a court jester.
  15. Any chance we could get Rozee now? Certainly taken his game to a new level this year. Then there was that peanut Cornes saying if Hinkley hadn't signed his last contract, Butters was on his way to us. Would love either/both of them. As for Georgiades, I'm not the biggest fan, but acknowledge our club seems to have rated him since his draft year.
  16. Maybe the Suns game, but the Adelaide game was a complete slog, where we banged on late goals to get it out to 7. Fritta went berserk. And haha love the multi tasking.
  17. Agreed, I don't particularly rate Saad, let's go with Nick Daicos instead. Imagine not tracking him from every kick out and allowing him to handball receive. He'd cut you apart and does. Again, Rivers plays a different role, but strange. Having said all that, I do think the Oliver tag makes sense.
  18. But surely you'd make sure someone tracks Rivers. It'd be like allowing Saad to run free, except Rivers is far more damaging because he intercept marks.
  19. Sure, but he didn't even seem to have a 1v1 let alone a tag in the first 3 quarters. Odd.
  20. So it took them three quarters to make the move? Pretty poor coaching if that's the case.
  21. And yet he let Rivers run around by himself...? Strange comments from Mitchell given what he allowed Riv to do.
  22. Andy, I just heard you say that we haven't put four quarters together in 2023, where in 2021 we did. I'd love to know which game we played four quarters in. We didn't even manage 3 great quarters in the GF. Maybe the prelim against Geelong and the Brisbane QF. Prior to finals though, I don't recall us putting together 4 quarters.
