No, it doesn't depend who you pick because we're losing two mature bodies around the ball. We've been here before. You can't expect first year mids to compete with most midfields. They need protection to grow and that means mature bodies. Humphrey is a maturing body that is ready for the midfield and won't get it at the Suns. Particularly with Trac in the team.

Although it's not ideal, I'd give our future 1st if it meant landing Humphrey. Kid will be a star and more than likely, better than whatever we land with a F1. Besides, we need to be backing ourselves to get close to the 8 or in it next year. Humphrey helps us do that. Draft picks don't.

He was a happy clapper too, wasn't he?

Farewell Christian Petracca
Well, you're the one hyperventilating about it, all on the basis of Jay The Newsbreaker Clark. How about you let the draft period unfold more than a couple of days before you Eeyore yourself in the corner. And I'll just sit over here and happy clap, shall I?

Compare the Pair
The first two are much better players.

Assistant Coaches in 2026
Hamill is coming as well. Perhaps Hamill will be forward coach and Chaplin simply ball movement and strategy/senior assistant. Maybe, baby.

I didn't know Riv was at St Kilda. Maybe he can get on the blower to Cam Bruce too and we really get the band back together. (not going to happen, I know)

No. It's Humphrey time and it's nowhere near deadline day. Cool ya jets, Rusty. Lamb is here for the slaughter/fair deal. Trac for Humphrey.

The Deebrief bros are just trying to stay relevant. Demonland is where the action is.

I'm talking about last year. When GWS blocked his trade.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
No, I'm sure it came from Clarry's management, but we should have had a press release ready to go. Meeting is over, publish, please. It took us 2.5 hours to publish anything, so a vacuum that allowed rumours to undermine our potential to get anything back.

Rory Atkins potential development coach.
That looks like me and you.

Jake Lever has also liked the original Moe post. Sexy.

Kingy and Dazzler.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
We didn't let it be known, Sam Edmund did, although I suppose we did let it happen by horrible coms and not beating Edmund with our own press release.

Rory Atkins potential development coach.
He also played with blonde hair for a bit like I did in Year 6.

Well, that's not true, because Derksen wasn't good enough to be snagged either and was. But this will get done. I hear he's excited to join.

Rory Atkins potential development coach.
Very interesting. That's all I've got to contribute at this stage.

Assistant Coaches in 2026
As someone who was a coach for 20 years, if you've ever coached, you'll know that the best coaches are often not the best players. Bizarre, I know.

That's some nice shade Tim's throwing at himself. Perfect cover. 👏 I concur. Dazzler is Timmy.

Right, so trading Humphrey to one of their main competitors next year. Not gonna happen. We hold all the cards. It's okay. You can dare to dream.

Meanwhile, they risk Humphrey going to a competitor next year or when his contract is up, and the deal they get then will not be Christian Petracca.

Can I be Jane Turner? Happy with Glenn too.

And then they can't match their academy players this year without going into a points deficit, and risk academy prospects next year.

Along with Viney, who now surely has to play a midfield role to usher these kids (Langford, Windsor, Lindsay and Kolt) through their 2nd and 3rd seasons. Sometimes you get an Oliver who has an immediate impact on contested situations, but most of the time, you'll need to develop their tanks and two way running, as well as core strength. With Clarry out the door, even if Trac goes and we get Humphrey, it's a midfield that will struggle on the inside and potentially in transition until they get their tanks up IMO.
