  1. I'd prefer to offer it to Shiel. For mine, he's surpassed Dangerfield now. He's certainly more consistent.
  2. And we will get killed off half back. He's probably our laziest footballer. When he goes forward, he has a knack of being even lazier. He's finished. Trade him.
  3. Absolutely no chance we win less than five games. Bookmark it. Besides, why are we having this PP conversation again?
  4. Prestia is just 22, has 74 games under his belt and averages high 20s in disposals. He's A grade. No brainer for mine.
  5. Inconsistency in performance was endemic of Geelong prior to it all clicking for them in 2007 too. I'm not saying we're on the cusp of a dynasty, but some perspective is still needed, mate. Let's reassess in a month's time.
  6. The new franchises have too much top talent to pay overs for one player. Shiel is worth it and they may deem that, however, if he wants to come home, there's not much they can do, but try and deal with someone. That's the power players wield these days. Carlton and Melbourne will be best placed to deal with them (read, have the best picks to give GWS). And not that it matters much, but Shiel did support Carlton as a youngster.
  7. That's not what happened actually. I'm not going to post what happened on a public forum though.
  8. That rise can happen quickly though. Just look at GWS.
  9. I agree, but our players weren't working hard enough to present options to our guys. They went into their shells.
  10. Years spent in the doldrums, I believe. It's understandable, but pragmatism has to come in somewhere.
  11. We've played some disciplined, team football during portions of this season. We did that once or twice last year (Adelaide last year being the prime example). We won our first 4 or 5 first quarters for the season across Rounds 4 to 5. You couldn't say that about last year. There's not necessarily a problem with examining our season to date, but it's how you measure this that is important.
  12. I don't think so. His contract is up at the end of this year or the next. Either, they get a first rounder for him or they risk get nothing in return.
  13. I'd give up our first round pick for Prestia in a heartbeat.
  14. If we had players with better skill and they had the desire to win contested and uncontested possessions, the winning would take care of itself.
  15. I'd like Zac Smith, Charlie Dixon, Stephen Coniglio, Dylan Shiel and Adam Treloar. Thanks very much. Sincerely, Adam.
  16. Roos is teaching us to win the contested and uncontested possessions. These are two things that will never change.
  17. I've said it before, but I'll say it again. He's my favourite non-MFC player. I don't make a habit of liking opposition players, but given he plays for a soulless franchise club, that makes it easier. Oh and the fact that he supported Melbourne as a kid, still has links to the club and most importantly, is a gun with pace, strength, neat disposal and ball-winning ability. I'd say we would have certainly been in his ear at the end of last year. I couldn't give a stuff about Zak Jones. Prestia is a classy, quick midfield who is the Vice Captain of his club, in only his early 20s. Bring him home, Redlegs.
  18. Some people seem to be talking about us as if we were a finals side last year. We won 4 games for the ENTIRE year. We've already won two. So after 7 rounds, we've already won half as many as the entirety of last season. We're clearly better this year, but people can't see the forest for the trees, because we've had three incredibly difficult tasks in a row. Further, if we get thumped by the Dogs and Port, but then win five in a row, where does that leave us? I don't think you can examine the season like that. Perhaps, at the end of the year, but not now.
  19. I'm over six foot six and he weighs more than me. Quite scary.
  20. For the record, I love having Paul Roos as coach.
  21. Couldn't mark a beach ball if he was on the beach by himself, unfortunately. Is it his shoulders? I really like Dawes. He works hard, is physical and he's not a horrible kick. His marking makes him quite deficient though. Watts isn't a strong mark either. Not sure that's such a great idea. Watts should be playing on a wing, IMO.
  22. Agreed. I'm certainly not saying Spencer is brilliant. I'm just saying he's an upgrade on Jamar and gets involved more than Gawn too. But two days ago we were one off season from having good depth. I'm not sure how you can then turn around and say the next day that our midfield is the worst in the league. And for the record, I agree with you. Carlton's would be the only other competitor. Richmond's isn't that crash hot either. Incredibly overrated. There's still some embarrassing stuff on here. But that's not for you to deal with, Nash. There have been some downright ridiculous comments in this thread, but hey, that's the internet.
  23. I agree with the others, but not Vickery. Not to mention, a bloody ordinary player and a bloody ordinary bloke.
  24. I think our culture is still carrying a bit of scar tissue that may be irreparable. We can be so fragile mentally. You only have to watch how we go into our shells and fail to attack. That is all apart of culture, IMO.
