  1. Purely hypothetical, but what would people be willing to give up for Gold Coast's Tom Lynch? I'd offer him a five year $750,000 contract and offer the Hulk a $1mill 10 year contract. Imagine those two blokes next to each other for the next decade.
  2. Agreed, mate. We need an A grade midfielder in the 22-25 age bracket. In order to go to 'contender' level, we'd need another A grade midfielder in that age bracket. Imagine how dominant Hogan would be in a team like Hawthorn. Once we improve our midfield, he is going to have some big days out.
  3. His first three possessions were shockers, including the shot at goal. I'm more concerned about his defensive game, which is just about non existent.
  4. I think we can go to the next step with one more draft. We'll have natural improvement from younger players to increase our output and hopefully we'll bring in a couple more best 22 mids. To be a serious challenger, I think we'll need probably three more off seasons to accumulate some top FAs and younger draftees that will compliment the blokes we already have.
  5. Goodwin was taking the lead last week at the breaks too, so I'd say this is the case. I thought we surprised North with our use of the corridor today. We still don't have the skill to utilise this game style properly, but in another off season we should be able to. We need blokes who can kick the ball receiving on the edge of the centre square at half back, rather than guys like Garland who tend to butcher short passes or kick long in hope. Salem will help here. I'd love to get someone like Lewis Jetta or Trent McKenzie from the Suns. Our slingshot will be really dangerous then. I'd even look at Gus Brayshaw back there too.
  6. This was most evident today I think, at least in comparison to the opposition, who hit the contest hard from outside the centre square. Cunnington did it about 10 times. Our blokes were so often flat footed and he'd come crashing through like a bullet and rocket past our inside mids. It helps if your team mates block for you and help you out on occasion. We still don't do those team things for each other.
  7. It was a step back for me, because his intensity to tackle was ordinary and he was out muscled by a small midfielder. His physicality has been improving and today he really let himself down and the team.
  8. He sprinted off half back twice and set up inside 50 entries. I recall them being effective.
  9. Disagree. He played the worst game possibly for the year. There was a contest on the MCC wing and he failed to tackle (was it?) Cunnginton and then they whisked the ball away and ended up scoring. A real step back for Watts today. Let's hope he's a lot better next week.Thought Lumumba had a really good first half and his second quarter in particular was very good, but he faded. Meanwhile, Bernie was terrible.
  10. I agree. Garlett's dropped chest mark was a massive momentum swinger. Hogan's miss at the start of the last and then North taking it straight down the end and kicking one, well, I knew it was over at that point. We dropped so many simple chest marks today. I counted 5 or 6.
  11. Disagree. Thought Max beat him actually. Gawn's big problem (and it kills the team), is his inability to run out games. He was resting on the bench at vital stages of the match. He needs to improve his fitness or he'll get passed by others.
  12. They have the quaddie of arrogant peanuts in Nahas, Harvey, Higgins and Thomas. They spend half their time strutting around the football field. And these guys are all down hill skiers.
  13. I had to resort to telling this North supporter that he was balding. Yep, I hate North and their arrogant supporters.
  14. Well, the highlight of my day was telling Petracca he was the Tracattack. He seemed to enjoy it. Oh and Jesse Hogan is a star.
  15. The most impressive part of that half was Lumumba's run off half back. I hope our guys take heart from the fact that North defenders are [censored] themselves when we get it in quickly/one-on-one to Dawes and Hogan. We need Bernie to lift big time. He's a little lazy today, playing off his man. Perhaps, he's just rolled the dice at the wrong times?
  16. With Matt Jones still getting games, we're still at least one, probably two off seasons away from having a truly competitive midfield. By that time N Jones and Vince will be close to 30 and we'll need to start thinking about their successors too.
  17. I'd say Mach5 is Maschy, which means he has very good sources at Geelong...
