Jake Lever injury - Confirmed ACL
Adam The God replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good luck with your recovery, Jake. I wonder if this changes our list strategy going forward with regards to who steps in to replace Lever. -
That's game style though.

They sharked off Max all day. That's how they won the clearances. We're very aggressive at the stoppages and if Max doesn't win it, we tend to struggle on the inside. The pleasing thing was we murdered them on the outside yesterday, which has been a weakness of our for a few seasons. I thought we were very disorganised at the clearances anyway. Particularly, early on.
-
How was that check-sided kick of his off the Clarry back half clearance that opened up the ground under extreme frontal pressure. Pretty sure it resulted in a goal too. Thought he was really, really good again. Has been great since the Hawthorn/Richmond debacles, where he kept losing his feet and was out-positioned too often. Vince is mostly horrible. He's done.

At least, the Scum winning will ensure 85,000+ next week. Two teams flying. We should account for them easily, but how will we respond to Lever's injury? That's the big question. Watching Collingwood, it's likely watching 15 or so ANB's run around. They get a fair bit of it but turn it over under very little pressure. It'll be interesting to see how they go against our pressure if we bring it.

Agreed, except our current team have excelled recently by lowering their eyes and hitting short targets, but also being able to judge when to pull the trigger on the deeper kick too. Along with work rate and confidence, Hunt's kicking is the key thing keeping him out of the 22. Has he improved this area of his game in the 2's?
-
Agree with most of this, except for the point about Watts being traded for cap space. Jack was traded for game style and application.

Caro digs up old wounds of Camp Fiasco on eve of season.

He is a woeful kick 90% of the time. All his set shot practicing doesn't seem to have helped either. -
He was so easily our best player that it wasn't funny today. Nev's game today was 3 votes. He was simply magnificent.
-
I reckon he's a much, much better longer kick. I remember in his first year, his kicking from half back to the advantage of a forward was his standout move.
-
Got a lot of it today, but was going at well below 50% DE at a point. Tidied it up slightly, but would be a lot more damaging if he hit more targets. He's working up some great form though. For a guy who struggled to accumulate, he's found himself with leather poisoning the last fortnight.

Jake Lever injury - Confirmed ACL
Adam The God replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hope Harry Petty gets a go. Looks like a gem to me and both a natural footballer and a great interceptor. Frost, however, is neither. Jake is going to he a terrible loss though. We'll struggle now, but I'm glad we didn't change our structure and shape too much after Jake went down. -
Laughable excuse. If it was about price then I'd understand. Doesn't sound it. Have you ever been to a stadium before?

Another stat worth celebrating
Adam The God replied to Rodney (Balls) Grinter's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is still gold, from the last time they "won" it. -
Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 11

That'll do. We haven't lost in that either. -
Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 11

Hope it's the retro kit as we haven't lost in it. -
It's not actually. Unlike the contractions "they're" or "we're", "who're" should be written "who are".
-
I have no inside info, simply a feeling that he's already verbally committed to us, ala Lever. I expect a Demonland "insider" will take a similar guess sooner or later too.
-
I noticed it and thought it too, but I'm glad we didn't. Particularly, as Salem's was arguably worse moments later.

Give us some credit! (Media reaction merged thread)
Adam The God replied to Billy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Maybe I'm slow to the party here, but is that you, deeluded? -
It was Robbo on AFL360, apparently relaying what Lewis had said on 360 last week. But as strange as it may sound, I reckon our supporters in the media (Lyon et al) will help keep this group pretty levelheaded. There's so much MFCSS about that you won't hear too much Carlton-like rubbish (ala "they know we're coming") and I think when the rest of the media is hyping us big time, this will balance us. I don't think we handled the pressure of media hype earlier in the year, but now we're in our groove, it'll be interesting to see if we can handle the pressure of media hype as the season progresses.

Clarry "one of the best to emerge in last 20 years"
Adam The God replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
There's something about the way he and now the rest of his team mates are handballing that reminds me of the great Geelong team and the flag-winning Bulldogs of 2016. Exciting stuff. -
Jake Melksham - the AFL's one on one king!
Adam The God replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great post mate. Melksham's linkage between the midfield and forward is absolutely pivotal to the way we play. And as you say, his delivery and decision making is clearly elite. Well done, Melky! -
Actually, we played without Max and still smashed them in the stoppages.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
Adam The God replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I love this kid. Rarely wastes it. Great peripheral vision and game sense. Tough as nails and a great side step. Incredible to think he's only played a handful of games.
